I'm sure PC gaming is pretty cool for those inclined. I am going to pick on it a bit but I do know there are plenty of up sides to PC gaming too, however those upsides have no impact at all on my willingness to switch to PC gaming. For me it is a matter of preference, expense and convenience. I find PC gaming thoroughly unenjoyable, so apart from playing old-school classics that are nearly impossible to obtain again (like Legacy of the Wizard on NES) on an emulator I have no inclination to deal with PC gaming whatsoever and that isn't going to change for any game. I don't want to buy a gaming PC (don't have the money to do so anyway), I don't want to build it (again, $$$), I don't want to make room for it, and I don't want to fiddle with it when something goes wrong with it all for a free-to-play game. When my ps3 or ps4 messes up it kicks me from the game, then I reload the game. If it hard freezes I hold the power button and restart it, worst case scenario I unplug it from the wall and then turn it back on. Boom, all better. I don't have to search for the issue, I don't have to fiddle with settings, I don't have to check the game reqs, I don't have to do anything apart from turn on my system and TV and play my games.
That said, I do kinda hope they port to PC. I explained this yesterday: 'I half hope they do port to PC just so I never have to worry about whether or not this game thrives anymore. A PC port unchains me from this game indefinitely and with the amount of rage, frustration and effort I've put into both the game itself and the ideas going into it here on the forums I would actually be quite pleased if they would just let me be free of it.
On the other hand, if it goes to ps4... I may be stuck with this game forever.... and the sad thing is that I can't decide if that's a good thing or a bad thing. I'm tethered to a game that is masochistic to play and care about and yet I still want it to succeed. I'm torn between desperately wanting it to just die or go to PC so I can get out of my life entirely and wanting it to be as fun as it used to be in Chromosome again so I could enjoy it like the old days...'
If they port to PC, then I have one more reason NOT to buy a gaming PC. After 3 years, I am exhausted from caring about it. I used to enjoy this game so much, but after Uprising hit it's been a long painful wait hoping beyond hope to see that level of fun, balance and playability return to this game. I just don't want to care anymore about this game that once filled me with excitement and expectation.
So I guess my last word on this is that I hope they port it to PC just to get it away from me. I don't want any more of this brand of 'hope'.

I hear you Baal. Personally i want to hear CCP say that there will be no connection to EVE for the foreseeable future so i can let go and retire my characters.
I want to see Dust2 on the PS4, but do think that if we are to go through an iterative community-feedback type of alpha/beta period it would be better done on the PC because Sony QA(on the other hand, thank god for Sony QA, can you imagine Dust without Sony forcing CCP to brush their teeth and change their underwear? The horror....)

Well...I hope it gets ported to both...
There are advantages and disadvantages to both platforms...the PCs being the KB/M (which we already have, albeit in a "watered down" form) while consoles have potential smoothness of control (how I've always described why some FPSs I just prefer playing with a Controller) and dedicated hardware (which is how consoles are able to compete vs gaming PCs anyway). As much as I like to joke myself about the PC Master Race, it's hard to argue with the financial argument for consoles...while it is not difficult to build a low-mid level gaming PC for the price of the XBone or PS4, you will be hard pressed to get the same overall in-game performance without going for unreliable/subpar components that aren't very future proofed...
Both console and PC games have issues with "client" mods and Aimbot programs (don't kid yourselves there), they're just harder to implement and harder to detect/deal with on consoles...like viruses on Macs...or snow and Ice in Texas .
But yes, PC and PS4, there are very few reasons not to, and of those none seem compelling
Khanid Logi and Tanker, sometimes AV Heavy or Sniper.

PS4 has merits. PC has merits. Having both platforms allows for more players. More players means more potential income for CCP. More income means CCP gives more of a damn about the game; hiring more/better staff, keeping hardware current, developing a closer relationship with it's playerbase, etc.

Speculation ahead, you have been warned: The level of Eve-DUST connect we have now will probably follow us to a new platform, but I wouldn't expect it to be anymore than that. Like Eve and it's expansions, DUST will get regular updates on the new platform, which will in turn allow CCP to strengthen that connection. Just don't expect that to be on launch, or even within the first 12 - 18 months of release.

Yeah, he did agree with you. All except for all the ways he flatly told you that you were completely misrepresenting the ps4 and overhyping your preferred gaming method. It's embarrassing when a PC enthusiast constantly makes basic spelling, capitalization and spacing errors in every post and it's painful trying to read. while i do agree 100% a lot of the reasons games suck these days is because they are lazily made exclusivly for consoles, destiny was always destined to be a hunk of ****, theres literally millions of other better examples, but destiny was forever to suck

destiny is my example because it was downright insulting ,...
a perfect example of how expansions have ruined things really yes i know there are a lot of examples but atm destiny is the only one that comes to mind cause its just so damn bad on so many levels
but yeah making games lazily for the weakest gaming machines is ruining the industry is why i love indies so much

Agreed Thaddeus. You've collected all sensible points into one paragraph, i would only add that re: mods/aimbots etc on PS4 the repercussions/annoyance of getting caught are higher and therefore more of a deterrent.
Taken together with personal preferences for lifestyle/financial issues as Baal points out i think we've collectively said everything that needs to be said about the subject - now cue 10 pages of master race/peasant trolling.

i agree i feel like they will be more open to interaction if its on the pc...plus wouldnt it be easier to do that way? i dont know anything about programming really..but it seems it would be easier to make two games on the same system interact with each other vs two different systems

CCP Iceland has reservations about doing anything that might **** with their baby so maybe they are just being incredibly over cautious for no reason.

of course it wont be solid ..cant risk their baby
but i still think its as bad as it is partly due to dust being on pc...i mean just an opinion with nothing behind it but i imagine its harder to operate the way it is...
the eve connection is something i see that may grow if the game prospers...
i dont care what state its in on fresh release of the port

Agree with both of you - although this shouldn't be a good argument, it prolly is...the EVE playerbase will feel less threatened if they can load up the game on PC and hop in whenever they like.
The cross cultural aspect of console mercs interacting with PC pilots is orders of magnitude more interesting and prolly more fruitful in the long run(i.e broadening the demographic of the virtual population of New Eden and the global exposure of New Eden) but hell, who thinks long term these days?

If it moves to PS4 then it competes with PS2 but also loses time in updating the game but could gain more players.
It moves to PC it will be competing again with alot more games which will be far more developed but has the advantage of being on PC along with EVE so EVE players can dip into it .
But this is just porting the game to another platform, all the core mechanics have to be upgraded aswell as the basics and there is still alot of problems to be fixed which can still exist on another platform.
CCP have left it too late in general, whatever they decide to do they will be playing catch up and if they do nothing at all it dies on PS3.

I agree
If DUST is profitable then fine but if it stays profitable and nothing changes then essentially they are just milking it to get back the upstart costs.
A few hotfixes here and there won't change much since it has already been paid for but if it keeps the cow milking for longer then it will be done.
