Guess I might just buy a respec after all that. Feel like I wasted so much time! I played every day and with 7mil SP, kills and wins did not come easy.
I see people talking about a Mercenary Pack that comes with 40k AUR... I don't see any merc pack in the store. I see:

I think you should stop playing the game, or at least take a break. If playing the game was a chore, I think you are not really enjoying the experience and need some time off. You can always come back. Don't biomass or give away your stuff. Some time off can help. I have taken several and come back feeling better.
Other advice: don't bother with a respec. Unless you are looking to flat out go from A to B because "B is so much more better than A!" you are probably better off getting boosters. Look at how much SP you have spent in various places. What would you seek to get rid of? I am guessing, especially with just 7 million SP, that you probably don't have much spent in totally worthless areas.
If you 6 boosters and cap out, that will be an extra 1,125,000 SP in two caps if you stack 'em. I forget how many boosters you can get for the same price as a respec. The odds are that you are better off getting Boosters given your relatively low SP. It is people with multiple millions either spent where they will never use them again, misspent, or wanting to completely move away from one type of play that can make efficient use of respecs.
I mean, hell, you are probably going to want 2-4 million in basic necessary skills right? Engineering (5), Electronics (5), Shields (2), Armor (2), Core Upgrades (2) is close to 5 million and they are pretty essential to get to all 5.
Stick with boosters if you want more SP.

--- Hello,
I have to strongly suggest instead of a respec invest in SP Boosters.
Because of the ability to stack boosters, you can get a lot more mileage out of planning a day or a block of days to grind SP.
x3 3 day booster = $7500 AUR
If you are loyalty rank 2 even better because you can sometimes find players that are willing to trade ISK for the 7 day Booster (usually for around $8 - $10 mil ISK ea)
If you are a decent SP grinder you can get up to 250K + SP a day ( I'm a logi and I was averaging 400K a day)
The respec is $30,000 something Aurum and gives you nothing but the ability to fix some mistakes or completely change roles.
It's not worth it if you are happy with your character and roles. |

Thanks for the advice, just curious why you think I should take a break? Is that a lot of SP for a character created Aug 22nd?
I definitely dumped points into useless things early on. Didn't know the racial / faction bonuses or what I wanted to use. So i skilled into almost all equipment up to 3 or 4 and lots of guns I don't use at this point.
The Merc Pack for 19.99 also comes with 2 BPO and a 30 day booster. I think it's a good deal and I've only spent $5 on Dust so far, so I don't mind $20 vs the time I've spent on Dust.
Thanks for the post!

Here's a question: Do you receive a bonus for whatever faction you chose for your character? As in do Gallente characters get a bonus for wearing Gallente gear? Or if I'm Gallente and I respec into Minmatar suits and weapons, am I losing out on bonuses not being Minmatar on my character? |

Yea the wording for events is a bit odd because they are all based on UTC / Tranquility time.
The event was slated to end on 10/29 at 1100 which was the start of down time this morning. |

Thanks for the post!
The advice for "taking a break" was meant as a "If you are ONLY playing the game to get that reward and are not enjoying it, the game is no longer fun. Playing a game for an electronic reward and not enjoying yourself is the perfect time to take a break." Reading your first line now, I see that it can be taken as either "WTF! WHY DID I EVEN BOTHER PLAYING?!" or "Damn, I was so close. That sucks." If the latter, sorry to hear that. If the former, I suggest a break.
7 million is actually quite a bit for only being made 2 months ago. "Back in my day, we only got 190,400 cap a WEEK!"
If you want to get a respec, BE SURE TO DO THE WORK BEFOREHAND! Write down your current character's Skill Plan and figure out what category each skill level falls into. Totally useless (Dropsuit Command 4+), not useful now (you will probably want to get equipment maxed eventually because you *will* want to be capable of being a Logistics), stuff you will want, and what is kept. That will make it easier to not screw up when you respec ("Oh crap; I forgot to get a weapon!") or leave you with a million left over wondering what you missed.
Doing the work beforehand will also give you an idea of "how much SP was wasted" (again, 'not useful now' is not a waste.) If the number is less than what you can just get with boosters, just get boosters and don't worry about it. The thing with boosters is that they scale really, really well with more SP while boosters don't. Example:
* Jim has 2,000,00 SP. 1 Active Booster is worth nearly 20% of his current SP total. Respecing probably changes little because he most of his SP spent 'should' be in places that are useful everywhere. * You have 7 million SP. Respecing out of Caldari Assault 4 and Sniper Rifles 5 would give you less than 800k SP. Each Active Booster, assuming you cap, is worth 375k. * Bill has over 100 million SP. 3 Active Boosters is nearly nothing compared to all the crap that he never use anymore. He also has a HUGE base of SP so that he can try out multiple different things at once.
If Bill wants, he can respec and become a great tanker, a great Logistics, a great Scout, a great ADS pilot, and probably 2-4 other roles. You, on the other hand, can barely even get to 'great' in a single role as it is usually thrown out as ~8 million SP to become full on Prototype in a single role. For you, getting a larger SP base is better than freeing up your 7 million.
Plus. if you ever get another respec, the previous one was worthless. More SP, because of respecs, can never be wasted.
Don't bother with Passive Boosters. They are kind of a joke now that the cap is so high. 1 Passive Booster is equal to 12,000 SP per day of the booster. That's like 3% of a capped Active Booster. Put another way: 12 thirty day Passive Boosters are worth less SP than a single 3 day Active Booster if you cap in 3 days. Just load up with as many Active Boosters as you can of as low of a day amount as you can; 3 dayers and 7 dayers are best as you can generally either cap in 3 days of play or get 2 weeks worth of capping out of 7 dayers.
For advice on where to spend it? Passive skills. Get Engineering, Electronics, Shields, Armor to 4. Don't go full hog on anything. Engineering 5 costs the same as Engineering and Electronics 4 (1-4 is the same as 4-5) Getting something to level 1 to try it is totally fine. You burn next to nothing to try it out. Plus, with a larger SP base you can always respec later.

Damn, thanks for all the info! I took it and planned out what I wanted pretty carefully. I got those basics up except for shields, got armor and armor repair to 4.
I did what was probably not wisest but I really wanted a proto suit. So I got the GalAssault to 5. Got my grenades up higher than before but stayed on Assault Rifles 4 because I have a stockpile of proto ARs I can use now. I also got some equipment and light damage mods to 3.
To be honest, proto is everything I dreamed it would be. I can fit everything I want on the suit and I feel a lot stronger in fire fights. I can really destroy some people now, like we'll go toe to toe and they are dead in seconds and I have barely lost any armor, then its repped up in seconds anyways.
I'm loving it. Now I understand what it means to proto stomp. Some players just don't stand a chance against you. It's safe to say I'm not rich so I only run a few Gk.0 suits per match.

Passive boosters are fine for those of us who maybe play 1-2 matches per night and maybe 5 over the weekend...I should have been stacking 3x30 day passives ages ago...
I'd also say a good piece of advice is to do daily assignments, and I don't just mean for the gold key -- Some of them have surprisingly fat SP rewards for not much effort, and depending on what assignments you get, it could equal an extra 50-60k SP nightly... |
