Is stupid. It creates an unbalanced environment and later breaks Scotty. No I don't think there should be a penalty. Why? Pc battles. Losing a squad member. Having to leave because of life? Instead maybe there should be an incentive to stay. Incentive could be anything to help keep people in battles. Whether its a bounty system, rewards for being top 3,top 5,top 10. Anything... Maybe then I wouldn't leave so much.

There should be a penalty. Real life sudden event, it happens but it doesn't mean you should never go untouched. See other games.
Though it should be one of the last things to include it has to exist.

I've been suggesting....
Since there is no significant incentive to stay and fight ( or so I keep hearing ) let's make one.
Why not for every 5 completed battles you receive a 1% increase to isk payout bonus up to a maximum of 20% extra and with each leave battle you lose 1 %of that bonus. Possibly the same to sp so more people with less time to play can hit cap each week.

If you remove squads from Public Matches I am pretty sure a lot of people would stop leaving matches.
It seems a lot of people leave matches because they recognize one or more people on the opposing team who they know is going to whip their ***. The thing is that a lot of those recognizable names only perform as well as they do because they consistently have a squad to back them up or to tell them what to do.
Now don't be mistaken; some of the recognizable names in this game will whip your *** regardless of being in a squad or not. |

I'd rather have a penalty. Life cant just drag you away from battle every battle. And it's called a threshold. You leave battles too many times because of family then its obvious you should kill your family(I mean spend time with them) if its your internet then maybe you should unclog your network by removing unnecessary things attached to it. I don'r think that someone should be able to leave battle multiple time in a row due to life reasons and be exempt from punishment, they should turn off the game and deal with whatever the problem is before you play a game. And the penalty should be not being able to que for battle for x amounts of minutes scaling on battle leavage rate.

Someone saw me in battle once and then after he sent a mail asking why I leave battles all the time. It works to an extent. If you have an HD tv then yes you will notice. If you don't it looks like one L. Sadly this effect... Is impossible to replicate on the PC... Hey at least if I leave battle I will have cover.

Now don't be mistaken; some of the recognizable names in this game will whip your *** regardless of being in a squad or not. Either that or make sure that there is a squad or an even make up on both teams i.e : two squads on both teams or one on both , but to have a team that has a squad or two playing against a group of random players is just counterproductive .
I don't blame people from leaving .
Fix or create a more balanced system for matchmaking and introduce incentives for better play and more of a team dynamic , squads dictate the match , squads dictate the outcome , there is more squad and less of a team concept .
Introduce more of a team concept so that individuals can feel more a part of a match , more connected / interactive play might help players to become more connected to the outcome , instead of this squad dominated concept that we have now .

Just me and my wife in a squad are quite a pain to deal with. It's hard when your dealing with people that are afraid of competition because if their so competitive then they wouldn't make posts about OFC / PRO stomping random players , watching vids where there's nothing but stomping random players while they sit in their organized squads .. stomping .
They should have been the first to speak out if their so competitive , they should be ashamed to pound their chests like their slayers but killing on uneven grounds .
These same won't and don't say anything because they like the way things are , their not competitive at all .
Nothing gets done around here unless the community steps up and demand it .
This won't happen though because these " competitive " players are truly cowards .

I am still of the mind that you should not be able to back out of a match so easily. Remove the "Leave Battle" button! Anyone who wants it is playing that stupid battle hopping game. If life happens, power down the PS3 or get off the game.
Don't go to a lobby! Don't pass go! That is someone trying to defend their garbage play style that they dump on their team. The reds now have half a team to fight and wait out the MCC and the blues who have the guts end up face down and lubed. I love the list of people against that feature. The argument was about how new players would hate not being able to leave battle. Fing new berries don't even know how to get that menu up!
League of Legends has a nice feature but it requires too much code, but you leave and you are required to wait 8 minutes before you can join another battle. Guess what, you hosed your team, and the enemy team. Life happens, fine, sit in time out and wait for life to get into a good place to play. Oh, and you team reports you for AFK and if you do it too much you have to explain yourself. Yeah, hosing over 31 other players should cost you if you do it too much.

Punishing players that were spawn camped for 5 freakin minutes and decided to leave. Great idea. We should poke them in the eyes at the same time while insulting their grandmothers pastries. Get real. Punishing players is just stupid. Some mercs... Okay I am one. I think it is NO fun to be endlessly slaughtered when there is zero chance of winning. You cannot be serious when you imagine that stompers care about a proto suit. The teams that stomp do not give a crap about isk.
Stompers have (for all intents and purposes given the profitability of stomping with the decreased rate of loss and the deep pockets of established megacorps) unlimited currency and if you terminate their shiny balacs will just buy another. To summarize- You can't affect the enemy with kills. Its no fun to play against any top ten, or any of the ping abusing latino corps. Leaving the match should always remain a viable option.

Why not base wp and isk gain off of the mu of the other team? Any rpg does that, if you fight tougher foes you get more xp. Inversely maybe these scrubs will finally go fight eachother instead of farming noobs and claiming they are good.

I like the incentive-for-staying idea. I thought maybe extra loyalty rank points. It would make sense, since that's kinda what you're showing by sticking it out. Maybe if everyone who stays to end-of-match screen gets 5 points added to rank. |

I know what I'd love: an additional 20-40% total fitting baseprice bounty on kills/asset destruction, 10-25% for kill assists. Stomping noobs in starter fits would get you nearly nothing, but if the noobs bite back and take out a proto/officer fit or vehicle, they'll get decent pay at the end of the match
An extra incentive that might keep players in battle: players who leave should forfeit their share of the pay to be split among the remaining players, including any "bounty" they have collected for kills that match.

I had suggested this in my own thread not too long ago:
The current problem highlights the risk-free nature of both joining battles and being able to leave them on a whim.
Why not make it so you can only bring X amount of gear to each match, always including Militia Starter BPOs by default (they can't be lost in this example). Lorewise, are you going to bring your WHOLE armory with you to every battle?
- You quit, your stuff goes up for salvage as gear or straight isk value to your team at EoM to help reimburse them for your sorry a$$.
- You lose the battle, you keep what you kill/help kill.
- You win the battle, you keep what you kill/help kill.
This creates four incentives: 1) Buy BPOs to give CCP dosh to risk less gear. 2) Makes quitting hurt the pocketbook & isk-pocketbook 3) Makes an incentive to play a sh!tty match in order to keep your team's deserter's stuff. 4) Puts a downward pressure on metalevel and expenses of gear brought to each match in case you DO end up wanting to leave, or even stay and fight.
Further down the line, you could also set something up in PC where if Corp A launches an offensive against Corp B's armory, you could have some BIG isk value up for grabs if A can only bring their best gear while B gets to throw everything they have at defense.
Prepare your angus
