Can't sue me that! Did you know that 16 is an age where some countries consider you to be an adult? Sorry, that was off topic. Couldn't help myself. There is this old saying about the age restrictions we have here in the US. At the age of 18 you are considered old enough to be an adult, old enough to own, carry, and use an open-carry firearm, fight and die for your country and smoke a cigarette so you can look like a bad ass while doing these things. But you have to wait until you are 21 in order to drink? I thought you could smoke before 18 just you couldn't purchase it. Remember two of my friends were trying it about 2 years ago(we were 14) and a cop just passed and gave a grin. Also, old enough for p0rn too young to drink. Lol

I would ask that all replies made to this post are kept civilized and that no harsh language is used. If you do not keep your post civilized and use harsh language your reply shall be reported and removed. An hour ago I asked what is your age, and my post was deleted. It's so childish of you to report it as not civilized or simply violent, there was no harsh language in it as well. It's very unfair on your part and the more unfair by the moderator. Dust 514 is rated by PEGI(http://www.pegi.info/pl/index/global_id/505/?searchString=Dust+514) to be game for peoples that are 16 years old or they are over it. There is a line telling that game contains realistic looking violence as well. If your parents accepted to let you play the game, knowing that you have the appropriate age, and there will be scenes with realistic looking violence. I do not understand why realistic looking violence suddenly became a problem, maybe you were just lied to them about age limitations etc.??
This.
The fact a lack of blood would make the violence more acceptable screams of twisted moral fibre. I'd bet money the parents are Christian as its te only time i see this kind of backwards logic.

I usually only notice this when sniping, and if anything I would request more blood effects in gameplay..
- NK kill, leaves merc dead with a pool of blood forming around corpse
- Lasers (that disintegrate effect when clones terminate waiting for revive) instantly upon death by Laser
- FG/PLC, mercs body explodes scattering pieces of flesh everywhere
- MOAR BLOOD SPRAY FROM MERCS GETTING SHOT !!!
Dafuq did I just read ???
We actually had players get butthurt over female clone movement?? (do you watch TV??) - Great to see community support for something so game breaking
If Maken's comment that the same guys then QQ'd to have it changed back is true on top of that
I have never been so ahsamed to inhabit the same community as you people, to the extent that cancelling Dust may be a better option that porting it, the community formed here should not be allowed to go any further with this ... MADNESS !!!

The bottom line op.
You're old enough to play and experience this. A lack of blood will not alleviate the violent acts you (and everyone else) commits en-masse and with great delight.
Your parents can either get a grip, or ban you from playing.
Now considering that you're old enough to be experiencing this, the only possible outcome should be that they get a grip. They should be more worried about how much you think of girls than some random fps game on the ps3 lol.

Your family has a problem with the blood but does not have a problem with the fact that you are pretty much committing genocide in this game?

I just wanted to add to the topic that in my opinion the most violent aspect of Dust 514 is open approval to scam each other, because this process involves real feelings, like honest friendship between two players.. I'm not gone go to details but it I think it may spoil someones psyche, especially in very young age.
Edit: and I think that it's not bad idea to have option to remove blood effects from game. EVE online is PEGI 12+ and have way much more darkness then Dust.. frozen corpses flying around and stuff like that.

The day before turning 18 you are not an adult, but magically overnight, you become an adult in a sudden transformation. Seems quite legit.
But I could keep talking for ages on how there are some really mature <18 and some really stupid >21... But that's another debate.

Best I can say is 'don't get headshots and try to use explosives'. Blood spray seems to only happen in my experience when you get a headshot, so I would suggest relying on MD's, PLC's, Flaylocks, RE's, grenades and vehicle turrets for all kills; basically anything you can use to kill people with splash damage (blaster turrets included as they had a splash radius last time I checked). Beyond that, keep asking for a toggle option and turn your aim away if a teammate is about ti score a headshot kill. Best of luck o7

N+¡gga, have you read some of the EVE stories? There was one story that was basically just a detailed description of how 3 guys tortured a druggie to death. New Eden isn't G-rated.
On the contrary, I think there should be more gore. Explosives should gib, forge guns should leave huge gaping holes, plasma cannons should gib and carbonize the parts and lazer strikes should completely vapourize the victim. Don't pretend you don't want it.

+1 for more gore ..oh, and bloodied suits after nearly escaping a battle,
have the blood pool where the armor is getting ripped through
(and +1 for that sound as rounds finally crack through a shield just to let you know you're getting to the warm delicate insides of a red berry...)
but as far as parent mode:
sure.. turn everything lo-fi.. and have people walking around with "happy lasers" and "rainbow rockets" see.. those aren't nova knives... they're friendly hug grapplers... notice how the bigger suits need just a lil more lovin...
..and while we're on the subject...
lol..
will anyone mention how body images are affected?
maybe some commandos were born with thyroid problems... maybe that sentinel is on a strict nanite diet...
and think of the poor objectified scouts...
..but back to op, and slightly more serious:
add a toggle.. or a slider... I'd set mine to ultraViolent, you can set yours to milk bar
(tho it would be hilarious to see minecraft-esque graphics for weapons and red pixels splash outta ppl like the rings of sonic...) |

Honestly though, most of the weapons we use wouldn't leave that much blood.
Remember the Assault (plasma) Rifle is shooting super-heated plasma shells that rupture on contact.
That's not something that causes a bleeding wound, that is something that causes the bits of you that it touches to be some ooze. The laser weaponry is strong enough to vaporize blood, and rail guns once they breach containment suits would likely leave your body spread out over a nice hundred foot line. Even nova knives would work more like lightsabers, instantly cauterizing / melting any body bits it comes into contact with.
Just about the only thing that "only" wounds a person enough to leave blood would be the combat rifle as it works as a "mundane" high-powered gun, and also the explosive weapons.
As to the comment above about having "bloodied suits" I would argue that is also impossible. The weaponry we are fighting with is -deadly- if we live if it is because our bodies have not been touched by the weaponry yet. Pretty much any one bullet of this stuff is deadly, or at least crippling. Human bodies, lore-wise, can't survive any of these weapons at least without becoming a casualty. If you run away by a hair's breadth, your suit is still functioning, and your body still has not been touched.

...killjoy.
lol...
melee attacks could squirt some blood... and if we'd really break things down:
explosions should have shrapnel, which in turn would pierce armor.. BLOOD!
that super-heated plasma (and the warm fuzzy feeling you get when 1-shotting a heavy with it) after melting through their core, if a body remains, it could smoke a little bit before 'digitally deteriorating' -GUTS!
and yes... my personal favorite... the scrambler pistol... designed to scramble ones brains.. should we leave it up to the imagination? nay, I say nay.
if shaking the brain can cause the ears to bleed... oh, just imagine how messy things could be if... -GORE! ...I'm sure you get the picture. |

Also, speaking as a programmer, I really don't see the purpose in adding additional particle / animation effects for incredibly gory / realistic death effects when they do nothing to modify the game play experience of users in the actual gun play. Especially if it's a feature that could then be disabled, meaning you are designing render intensive effects to only a small portion of the player population. Especially when those resources could better go to getting better performance out of gameplay-important aspects.
