I felt like qq'ing so here it is.
yesterday was horrendous, about FOUR thale snipers on the enemy team, no less than 3 and those were just their thale snipers, not counting the other snipers.
i have scout mk0 and scout gk0 fastest suits in the game, the redline timer kept getting me even with 5-8 seconds on the clock and when it didn't the snipers were sat so far back I would only just kill them in time before the redline timer got me, I had 11.12 sprint speed and was holding a nanohive and could only just get the snipers, if they were in tanked suits I wouldn't have had time, I used creodron shotgun.
Every time I took out a thale sniper I lost a suit as I couldn't get back out of the redline. Every time I took out a thale sniper another one popped up you couldn't get rid of them.
It shouldn't take so much to get rid of people who want to hide from everyone else and not interact with anyone in an online video game.
DOUBLE THE REDLINE TIMER and fix the redline timer glitch! How could anyone in a suit other than the fastest in the game be in a position to take those snipers down? sure they could waste time getting counter-sniped whilst trying to counter-snipe if they also have those suits and millions in sniper rifles or we could fix a bug that's been in DUST for god knows how long. |

or the mcc could be the only redline place therefore once your on the ground no backing out but then ppl can await your descent so perhaps under the mcc and within the same thing that prevents you from shooting within the mcc surrounds the circumference of the mcc preventing them from being killed and people killing them but once they step out of the radius theyre up to the mercy of the wolves essentially a double edged shield

The sniper rifle is the problem.
If the weapon had any use what so ever outside of camping a million miles away then maybe, just maybe it would be useful for a multitude of other reasons and engagements.
I too love to hunt snipers but I also have the honesty to say that with the weapon in the state that it is, what else do you expect people to do with it?

I feel your pain. Snipers in this game are little bitches that just hide in the red line trying to pad their KDR instead of doing anything useful.
On that note, sniper rifles don't need to be buffed. If I can be one shot killed with a headshot when I have almost 600 armor and nearly 200 sheilding by an advanced sniper rifle, there is no reason for a buff to it. People who complain about damage output are just looking to oneshot body kills. Maybe try aiming for the head, or just aiming at all.
Remember, only you can prevent forest fires by biomassing all sniper rifles!

If its were possible to assign some kind of "flag" to sniper riffles and maybe even forges, so these things can't do any dmg while in redline, might be easiest solution. There were many same or similar props, but looks like to much codding for CCP.

If you wish to reduce the range, you better buff the damage. Reduce my range by 50%, you better buff my damage by 50%.

It's not the snipers fault. It is the communities fault. The sniper is in the state it is because the community bit*h and moan when killed by a sniper. They don't care if they get killed by my combat rifle or HMG but when killed by a sniper, they rage.
Maybe the sniper wouldn't be such a redline camp weapons if people actually supported no sway while standing ect but no. People want it burred in the ground. They don't want to buff it in any way at all. Even if you asked for a buff in the mag size or ammo carried or even a 1dmg buff, people will go ballistic and revolt.

Dude you have to use the Roden. Has the most range in the game. I can easily snipe from redline to redline. Anyways, I don't blame you but you went bad. To take a sniper out, snipe them back. Stay out of thier sight and headshot them.

About Roden. It's the worst Sniper Rifle. Has same damage as Thale/Charge. Has same range as Thale/SR and has only one ammo in a clip.

That's because it's unique. Ever it's pretty much a make shift high tech Bolt action Sniper... all the others are pretty much Semi auto...

If you have not figured it out yet, the best way to deal with thales is to pull out your own thales and headshot those goofs, who needs to go into the redline LOL?
I simply see bad tactics on trying to kill snipers, thats all.
You dont need to even be close to the redline to effectively counter snipe a sniper.
Thats all I have to say.

Meh snipers are annoying but rarely a huge problem. They tend to get less kills than a scout with a militia shotgun. Considering how few matches even go below 100 clones these days KD/R isn't that big of an issue so the KDR padding snipers aren't that important. There are a few maps where it gets a bit insane. To the point no one can approach the objective at all. I've had Dom matches where at least half each team were sniping and the entire match went without anyone hacking the objective due to how open and exposed it was to fire from both redlines.
But like people have said snipers are probably the easiest people in the world to counter snipe. Their not moving, they tend to be in obvious high up places with a good view of the land with little more than their head poking out. If you can target them 99% of the time it's a headshot even without trying. I kill snipers with the basic sniper riffle and no points into sniper riffle proficiency all the time. Most sniper fits are trash suits, or glass cannon advanced/proto.
I always find it funny when I take out a Thale sniper and find out the guy was in a frontline suit with an officer rifle. IMO though snipers aren't that dangerous. Only the most focused of snipers can one shot most people on the move. More than likely their just a little gnat biting at you threw out the match. they might get you killed, or finish you off while wounded but not any real threat.
The real pains from the redline are vehicles. Tanks obviously with rail guns, or some times a really skilled large missile launcher can blow you away with very little you can do about it. After all a proto tank is hard enough to kill in the open field, one back in the redline with the speed to flee even farther back at a moments notice is a tough nut to crack and they get one shot kills a heck of a lot easier than a sniper rifle.
DS are just as bad even if they don't technically hang out in the redline. They can swoop down blow you to bits and either fly to their redline or fly higher than any ground based weapon can reach, basically the sky high redline. Given it takes 3 shots from proto swarms to kill even a militia DS with nothing really fitted to it you get some annoying gameplay. So compared to vehicles a guy sitting 400m back in the redline that might poke me with a stick every once in a while is hardly a problem.

The only way I can deal with snipers(I suck at sniping) is by remote explosive dropship delivery service. But 90% its either a Thales or a scrubby proto tactical(lame). So these guys are hidden DEEP in the redline. So I have to pull scanners(boo) and find em.

Double redline timer... Today I was in a game where the enemy was making frequent raids into my redline, the hacked our redline supply depot and even a large missile installation a little further back. They camped the one Spawn point and I'm over at the other spawn point looking at the mayhem... blue after blue dying. The redline has never worked and will never work. Double the timer, and you hurt the scrubs that get redline raided. But you'd have more time to eat up that pesky sniper or that redline rail tank.

Also my thoughts on how to fix redline is: There is a line and a timer, but you don't automatically die when it goes to zero. Instead you would have a spawn point with a good amount of un-hackable AI turrets with good aim, you step in for some time and you get shredded by AI turrets(they will have good aim) or if CCP doesn't want to do unhackable good AI. Then get the MCC involved, have the MCC bomb the hell out of a person who's been in the redline for a while. Something that if you are fast enough can dodge, but even the splash damage ohk a proto quadruple hardener tank. And if said person was to stay in the redline for more than 20 seconds, but was able to live through the first bombardment, that clone will be tracked by the MCC(or turrets) so that if he takes a step into past the redline again he will be bombed. This doesn't break immersion(like current redline) but also lets a speedy person go in and kill the sniper(or a speedy tank go in and kill a redline tank) and get out with the possibility of not dying(no more suicide kills). This also helps because enemies who frequent the past the redline(redline campers) will be tracked after a few goes so they will cease to do this awful act of redline raids(ofcourse there is the sad fact that on the other side of that redline could be an army waiting for one blue..)

Yep, people didn't like being killed from nearly anywhere on the map, so they took away its range.
And then they didn't like being killed on an objective, so they killed nearly every long range line of sight on the objectives, going so far as to state in one of their devblogs that they were actively building maps that were detrimental to snipers outside the range of other light weapons.
So now nearly every objective is self contained inside a building or has CQC obstacles covering every side.
Now goodness forbid they get killed by one at all!
'Course the solution would be to keep the snipers reduced range and open up the objectives for sniper fire again because it would still force snipers out of the redline and actually give them something to do other than shoot at the red dots when they get redlined, but there's not a chance in Hell of that happening!
