What is up with the arrogant eve players in the chat?
Their game has no visible impact on dust but they still keep talking trash and acting elitist.
I think they are jealous that they have to pay a monthly fee and we get DUST 514 for free. We still pay for aurum.
And a lot of these whack jobs actually think they are flying through space, when they are just sitting in front of a computer just like you do at the office.
I just block all the eve losers whenever they start talking trash, but CCP needs to educate them or block them from the DUST 514 chat.

There were reasons they hated us that were valid.

Well, think of it this way....
Eve players have been around for...hmmm roughly 12 years. They pay subscription fees (if they don't make enough isk in game to buy plex). They also have to deal with the whining of dust players and the spamming of corp ads etc in about 24 different systems.
Lets also not forget that Eve players who are loyal to the game are highly annoyed by the dust players who pretend to be pilots for the sole purpose of Orbital dropping.
Don't get me wrong, there are benefits for legit Eve players who drop orbs for fac war (they also obtain loyalty points as dust players do).
Overall, they see themselves not as superior necessarily, but more invested in a larger gaming community that dust multiplied by 1000.
Technically we are invading their space..... Think on that

I disagree completely. We have our own space and it is none of their business.
The 2 games have no impact on each other as far as I've seen in the 2 years I've been playing.
As far as pretending to be pilots goes; A pilot is someone who can fly a dropship very well. Maybe I just don't understand what the eve people do, but I don't see any connection between the 2 games for them to whine about.

Not all Eve Online players are elitist.
<<<--------------- Case in point.
Besides, a lot of the Dust chat is restricted to starter systems which consists of about 24 different systems out of an entire cluster of over 1,000. We are not concerned about you invading our space. In fact, we welcome it. Just ignore the loud mouths in local chat. They don't speak for me or everybody else. Just themselves.

I just block all the eve losers whenever they start talking trash, but CCP needs to educate them or block them from the DUST 514 chat.
That's not it. It's that they have had what we want for the better part of ten years now and we are that unpleasant little addition to their universe that they have not direct impact upon nor has impact upon them making us wholly redundant. The last thing however that we want CCP to do is block them from Dust 514 chats and separate the games.
As for the underlined part......that's kind of what the purpose of RP (or role play) is. It's acting as the character you have created in the game with an interest in the back ground setting of New Eden. That being said most of the RP community I know of are pretty cool and really want to see more of Dust in New Eden.

Watch to 2:41.
I really don't understand why this happens in some games when it doesn't in others. It is just "Daddy loves me best!" crap. Specifically for EVE, there might be a few reasons:
1. They want DUST to go away so the developer's time is spent on "the game that matters" or gets them recognition. 2. They want DUST to be on the PC so they dislike it because they can't play it. 3. They see the game as massively flawed and in a negative light. "Anyone who plays that must just be an idiot!" Hell, how many times on any forums does "COD players..." come up as a pejorative term?

First of all, I took away your bold lettering because I see it as pointless and unnecessary and only makes you look more desperate for attention than you really want to let on.
Second, both games do have an impact on each other on two fronts. Planetary Conquest and Faction Warfare.
In PC, the amount of districts your corp owns in Molden Heath grants a bonus to control towers deployed over that particular planet. I do not know what the bonus is, but I think it has more to do with output. Problem here is that managing control towers in low-sec space is a nightmare for Eve Online players.
In FW, the progress of the war between opposing factions in Dust has a direct impact on how difficult or easy it would be to defend or take control of a target system in Eve Online. Eve pilots can also deliver orbital support which awards them a nice profit of 6,000 LP for every time they pull the trigger for the orbital. Just one orbital alone is enough to cover the cost of the destroyer they usually bring should they ever lose it to a low-sec pirate. It is estimated that 6,000 LP in Eve Online equals to about 8-10 million ISK. Not to mention the kill mails they get on the dropsuits.
If anything it is faction warfare that has a much stronger connection between the two games than anything else because there are better incentives there for the players to interact than what planetary conquest offers. That and FW encourages more communication between both games which is why you often see Eve pilots available in the popular faction chat channels offering orbital support.
Finally, an Eve Online player can join a Dust-side corp while a Dust player can join an Eve-side corp.

That being said Maken..... FW Bonuses are woefully unpredictable and unreliable and at this point I cannot thing of any corporation who actually takes advantage PC or otherwise of the bonuses in Molden Heath.
FW Orbital Strikes are only the more profitable option for earning LP as opposed to plexing which is dangerous and takes long periods of time.

1. Not all Eve players are like that. There are a lot of Eve players out there who actually enjoy Dust. We are just not that vocal as the others. 2. Some of us don't even care if it goes to PC or PS4. Both platforms have their benefits. It's just a matter of which is more convenient for CCP and the players. 3. Again, not all of us are like that. In fact, that quote of yours sounds familiar. It is almost like it was said before from an Earth & Beyond player who thought Eve Online was stupid back in 2003.

If you knew anything about Eve, you would know that the local chats dust players are put in, are in systems that are inhabited by Eve players. Not every single one, but they are there and they are many. Various corporations and industrialists and miners take home away from people and these happen to be some of those systems. So don't say that it is "dust's space" because you are very wrong. Especially in terms of Molden Heath. 99% of the people in Molden Heath are there for the sole purpose of ganking dust players.
A pilot is any Eve Player actually. We are called EVE PILOTS. PLEX = PILOT License Extension. Your ignorance just proves to the real pilots (eve players who spend all of their time in spaceships) that they have a reason to be elitists.
Edit: Don't get me wrong, I by no means think as an Eve Pilot that i'm better than any dust player, but on the other hand I understand where they are coming from. The ignorance between the two games (on both sides) perplexes me sometimes because you would think there would be more common ground.

yes eve players are quite elitist, though the ones talking to you are probably the lowest and least respected players in the game themselves, so its a matter of **** rolls down hill, you are basically being smack talked to by a bunch of prey animals.
The real eve players wouldn't be seen dead talking to you and in reality, they are better than you for any number of reasons, probably the worst being that you are playing a half dead lobby shooter on a 9 year old console.

And the local chats are just local chats. We are ignorant to all the background stuff because it is irrelevant anyway. I don't know what Molden Ganking even means. And I really don't care because it has no impact on just playing a game and trying to win the match.

It's easy to feel superior when you're cruising thousands of miles above Dustie's heads, even if it's completely uncalled for.
As it is, EVE pilots gain very little from Dust mercs besides a few shiny killmails every now and then. If pilots could actually gain something by aligning themselves with Dust players, we'd start to see a lot more cooperation.

Eve players move around a lot. Well, most of them do ... they range about like animals in a savanah. Some are predators, some prey.... some migrate and others just flit about - but they all do one thing that Dust Mercs are forbidden:
They change systems.
We, on the other hand, are bound - fixed - locked, each of us into the system identified by our Local.
To capsuleers, dust mercs are like ornamental features of the local chat for the systems in which we are held. And if we don't move, we must be a lot like those other ground crawling species - humans. Mortals. They don't take us seriously because we don't seem to effect anything. And guess what, they're right.
Now, how terrible would it be for our keepers (those who control the clone bins or factories or whatever is outside that door in my cell), to just move our 'physical' location on the tranquil server wherein our cluster exists to the system's local where we believe we are fighting battles?
And if they could or would do that, how terrible would it be if they would allow us to leave the system we are in and move to another system?
And if they could or would do that, how terrible would it be if they would allow us to fight battles over districts on planets in our local system?
And if they could or would do that, how terrible would it be if these battles we fought in districts on planets in our local, if those battles destroyed the capsuleers' precious planetary resource harvesters and storage complexes and infrastructure!?
How terrible would that be?

WRONG. Pilots, as I have explained are Eve Players....Called Eve Pilots. Dust merks pilot a dropship which is completely different because your title as a dust player is a MERCENARY not a Pilot.
Secondly, you've been playing dust for how long and you don't know anything about Eve? Your clone is where it is because of Eve so all of your ill-informed statements are irrelevant.
Also, you are wrong about dropships being "fancy helicopters" they are actually VOTL Aircrafts. You can find the definition of a helicopter below.
1. a type of aircraft that derives both lift and propulsion from one or more sets of horizontally revolving overhead rotors. It is capable of moving vertically and horizontally, the direction of motion being controlled by the pitch of the rotor blades.

It's just a matter of which is more convenient for CCP and the players. 3. Again, not all of us are like that. In fact, that quote of yours sounds familiar. It is almost like it was said before from an Earth & Beyond player who thought Eve Online was stupid back in 2003. Never meant to suggest that it was everyone, was just giving potential reason for why people may do it.
For number 2, I was mostly going from what I have heard at EVE Vegas. "DUST looks interesting but I don't have a PC", they then went into a tirade how it didn't look that good. Again, I am sure that wasn't indicative of everyone.
For number 3, I specifically chose COD because people on these forums do it. "Why can't we have faster respawns or assassination attacks from behind?" "Go play COD idiot."

I don't see any of that. I just play a match, Win or lose, and play the next match.
Even if there is some hidden obscure connection, they should be glad we're playing rather than trying to kick us out.
Have you ever wondered what those brackets in the sky were while you were in FW? Have you ever played FW at all? Were you even involved in PC recently?
The connection in FW is not obscured. There are stats posted on the EOM screen in faction warfare telling you what goes on in Eve Online in the same system as the faction district you fought in along with the overall progress of how much control your faction has over that planet and system. That is another hint at the connection going on. Have you even been to any of the faction channels currently available?
PS: As an Eve Online player myself, I don't want to kick you out. Many of us involved with you don't want to lose this connection.

I was a Dust bunny first then moved up to Eve and I have pretty much developed a stuck up attitude towards most of Dust.
Why?
Constant childishness. Sorry but the Dust community has the worst representation to the outside world of any game I have ever seen.
Planetary Conquest Players - God these guys make Dust look so bad. I have been sitting in chats before with a bunch of Eve guys (on my Eve char) and had a Dust player come in demanding to speak to a person who will not name. Upon one of the guys telling him that he was AFK he proceeded to begin ranting about them taking their last district and its a violation of the rules and on and on and on despite several people in the channel telling him they don't give a flying **** and he needs to shut it.
I have only run into a few guys in Eve that actually had anything to say about CCP wasting their sub money on Dust and their gripes were more on the fact that CCP wasted their money on such an epic flop. Almost every gripe was the fact that out of all the Dust players they have run into 90% of them were unbearable to be around.
Basically:
Eve - Overall represents itself as having one of the highest average player IQs of any game. Filled with doctors, lawyers, hedge fund managers, foreign dignitaries, and other high paying / important jobs. Sure there are scammers and people that attempt to rage out but both of them are quickly dismissed in favor of a good stat debate, some RP, world politics discussion, or occasionally some awesome drunk night stories.
Dust - Presents itself as the most absolute group of childish trolls ever. Most channels with over 20 people can not make it 10 minutes without some one name calling, arguing, throwing a tantram, whining about being scammed, and other activity just not conducive to proving you have a maturity level above a 12 year old. Given many in Dust do not fall into this group but they are also the ones who just hop into squads and run along into battle as oppose to even being around the activity pointed out above.
So you tell me why these two communities would not merge well.

The correct and most commonly accepted term for an EVE player is 'Capsuleer' or 'Empyrean'. Pilot does suffice but the term is a little too generic.
A Dust 514 player could certainly be referred to as a pilot, especially in the case of dropships, as opposed to HAV and LAV. Hell even the assertion that all players are mercenaries is rather misguided since for the most part players in Dust do not act like mercenaries. My corporation for example acts as a paramilitary for an established government, we don't sell our services to anyone.

Where to start.......
You probably got told off because you were asking basic stuff that is covered in the tutorials proving you had never put in a bit of effort which will get you shut down real quick with 99% of Eve players.
Eve saw a drop in numbers this year because of the banning of ISBoxer which lead to people dumping lots of their alts.
Actually helpful to newberries? That's just funny and we all know it.
When I do stream I do not stream my comms so sorry but you have me seriously confused with someone else. Not sure what switching the descriptions has to do with that anyway.
0.5% 1% 5% 10% 25% 50% 75% 90% 95% 99% 99.95% 17 18 21 23 26 31 36 43 48 59 75
Above is a basic chart of Eve player ages done by CCP Quant which can be seen here. Only 25% of Eve users are age 26 or younger. We do not have the luxury of such a graph for Dust but we all know that the number of players in Dust that are age 26 or younger is much higher than that.
I'm sorry if you were offended by the fact that you feel like you did not fit into the Eve group which I pointed out and do feel like you fit too much into the Dust group but that does not change the truth.

This exactly.
Hell, if you hang out in the Gallente Militia channel in EVE you can find that most of them there don't even realize Dust still exists. When I joined FW with my alt and started doing OBs, a bunch of people came along with me to do the complexes in the system in order to encourage Dust to spawn more matches there and flip the system faster.
If PC were someplace other than Molden Heath (which is infested with bored PvPers) you'd probably have a lot more EVE interaction with that system since the surface infrastructure we build gives bonuses to orbiting structures in space.

Just so you know, and I'm assuming you did not get the memo, CCP made an official announcement late last year that states the following:
Source: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=387571
CCP Falcon wrote: Playing with multiple accounts at the same time has a long history within EVE Online, and has always been permitted. There are various ways to do it, and since thereGÇÖs been a lot of discussion surrounding what is and isnGÇÖt allowed, weGÇÖd like to clarify a few terms and exactly how the EULA and our Policies must be interpreted and how some things are shifting.
Over the last few weeks we have gone through an internal review process to clarify what exactly the EULA and ToS require in terms of input automation, input multiplexing and input broadcasting. This is the result of that review process and an outline of how we will interpret things going forward.
Firstly weGÇÖd like to go over a few terms.
Multiboxing
Multiboxing refers to playing as multiple separate characters, simultaneously, across a number of accounts, either by using multiple computers to run the game, or by using a number of instances of EVE on a single computer.
Uses for multiboxing range from scouts in PvP to gang boosting, support and ECM alts, as well as extra characters for hauling, mining and many other applications. Based on our EULA and Policies we would like to clarify that multiboxing is allowed.
Input Automation
Input Automation refers to actions that are commonly also referred to as botting or macroing. This term is used to describe, but is not limited to, the automation of actions which have consequences in the EVE universe.
Input Broadcasting & Input Multiplexing
Input Broadcasting and Input Multiplexing refer to the multiplication of inputs, actions and events to multiple instances of the game.
Going Forward
As of 15th of March 2013 we have been policing input automation based on a two-strike policy
GÇó1st strike for input automation is a 30 day ban GÇó2nd strike for input automation is a permanent ban
Input Automation remains strictly prohibited, and is policed under our suspension and ban policy.
Based on the discussion in this area and our will to be more clear and concise with the community regarding this part of our rules, we have decided to also apply this two-strike policy to prohibited forms of Input Broadcasting and Input Multiplexing as of January 1st 2015.
We would like to add, however, that we will not be taking action retroactively and will only be policing this policy as of January 1st, 2015.
Input Broadcasting and Input Multiplexing of actions with consequences in the EVE universe, are prohibited and will be policed in the same manner as Input Automation.
This includes, but isnGÇÖt limited to:
GÇóActivation and control of ships and modules GÇóNavigation and movement within the EVE universe GÇóMovement of assets and items within the EVE universe GÇóInteraction with other characters
Examples of allowed Input Broadcasting and Input Multiplexing are actions taken that do not have an impact on the EVE universe and are carried out for convenience:
GÇóEVE Online client settings GÇóWindow positions and arrangements (of the EVE Online client in your operating systemGÇÖs desktop environment) GÇóThe login process
NOTE: Please keep in mind that using the same password for multiple accounts as well as storing your password in a third party tool or script which helps you to automate the login process can increase the risk of account theft and hacking drastically. It is strongly recommended that you do not engage in this type of activity.
We are closely monitoring all game events for suspicious activity suggesting illicit behaviors, including Input Broadcasting and Input Multiplexing.
We would like to clarify that it does not matter how Input Broadcasting and Input Multiplexing are being done, whether through use of software or modified hardware. Our only concern is regarding how it is being used in the EVE universe.
If you are uncertain about your Input Broadcasting and Input Multiplexing use-case, please get in contact with us, as we would prefer to work with members of the community to come to an amicable resolution. We will also follow up this statement with further clarifications if needed, based on questions and concerns from the community.
TL:DR :
Starting from 01.01.2015 the use of Input Broadcasting and Input Multiplexing is limited to activities which do not impact the Eve universe. For more details please refer to the entirety of this announcement.
As a result, a lot of players who have established large number of alts that were active at once were suddenly forced to ditch such efforts. This is reflected in the decline of the peak concurrent users in Eve-Offline.
Source: http://eve-offline.net/?server=tranquility
Most number of players online at once as of January 1, 2015: 40,579 Most number of players online at once as of today: 29,222
Pretty indicative of what the composition of the player base was the whole time. So in reality, it is very much likely that we never lost players. We just lost a lot alts.

Eve lost more alts than that but the new NPE has been doing wonders. I have run into more guys in the last 2 months that have only been on for a month or two than total over the course of my roughly 1 year in Eve.

I would not be surprised if the NPE has been working wonders. In all the years I have played Eve Online since 2008, I have seen the new-player experience improve vastly over time. Back in 2003, the NPE was that you go through some weird text-based tutorial and at the end of it all you were left stranded somewhere in the middle of the wrong part of town with a rookie ship and no idea what to do next. Today? Everything is explained to you in a highly intuitive and interactive way the moment you appear in space.
Starters systems (the same as the ones we have in Dust) are offered as safe havens for new players. As long as the players stay there, no one is allowed to gank them, scam them, rob them, or extort them. But those systems are small in terms of available resources and they are not profitable to be in if you are a veteran player. These conditions then encourage you to leave the safe system and thus become fair game to the rest of New Eden. But by then you will have already gotten a basic idea of what to do next and where to go.

I was on a new alt the other day doing some market scanning and was surprised as hell when a chat window popped up without me accepting it. This window was none other than a CCP GM asking "me" if I had any questions or needed any help. I was a bit scared to do so but I told him that I had been on the game a little over a year and was just toying with an alt. I proceeded to have a short but great conversation with him and learned just how in depth NPE had really become before he went off to help the real newbies.

I hear what your saying but they do more of an impact keeping the lights on and I don't think we have a big enough impact on they're game territory wise to make them want to care. If the two games interacted more like they produced weapons for us and ferried us from planet to planet that would be sweet. Even the idea of dust runners doing boarding parties would be sick. |

It is capable of moving vertically and horizontally, the direction of motion being controlled by the pitch of the rotor blades.

EVE pilots(the ones who know Dust exists, that is) hate/despise/pity Dust mercs because CCP failed epically hard at Dust. So far as pod pilots are concerned, we're the population of mutated lab animals left alive after the funding for the research project got pulled.
Also, the EVE pilots with a little bit of vision know that if CCP hadn't fked up on a massive scale we might have been dangerous.
Now, when those pilots cruise over Dust planets i imagine we look like a failed planet of the lizard-frog-apemercs, awash in mutagens and hallucinogenic test chemicals.

Eve has no impact on DUST.
The only Eve impact I see is delusional Eve players talking trash about fictional planets and mutants that only exist in their head.

No, I'm posting about their idiotic comments and attitude in the chat, which I subsequently block.

My take on the OP was that EVE players can be a lil douchey in local and beyond. After reading the full thread I'd have to say 10/10 mission accomplished.

Don't go in the Minmatar channel. I've met some really mean Capsuleers in there, the best way to fight back is not getting angry. Because then you feed onto their egotistic/trolling behavior and that adds fuel to the fire. Deflect it all with a sense of humor and be lighthearted, some will began to warm up to you. Just don't take them seriously, people are always going to talk mad-trash over the PC. It's the EVE Universe, it's merciless out there. Just takes a special mindset to tolerate it all. :)

They are not jealous, they are just arrogant and elitist, as you said. Not all of them obviously. Not even most of them. But the ones talking trash to DUST players in local chat mostly fall into that category.
1) Part of it comes from the complexity of EVE, so that some people think that playing EVE proves that they are smarter than people playing other games. In this they are only half right. While you do have to be smart to be successful in EVE, that does not mean the people playing an FPS aren't just as smart.
2) Part of it comes from a long standing resentment over DUST being released on the PS3. EVE is played on a computer, and many eve players don't have Consuls, so they resent the fact that DUST was released on a different platform than they play on. (Of course some EVE players such as myself bought PS3's just to play DUST.)
3) Part of it is that DUST crashed, burned, and nearly died. Many EVE players are not aware of all the improvements that Rattati has made to this game and still judge DUST based on the train wreck it was two years ago. The fact that DUST is on out of date hardware (PS3) does not help with this, as it adds to the idea that DUST is Dead.
4) But the biggest part is simply that some of the dregs of any society will seek any excuse to troll someone to make themselves feel superior.

I just block all the eve losers whenever they start talking trash, but CCP needs to educate them or block them from the DUST 514 chat. Schools in.. History lesson. In the beginning CCP made EVE , then DUST, EVE nerds who call themselves pilots thought DUST was for them. The first CPM was almost entirely EVE players with 0 FPS experience. Consequently the game suffered. EVE nerds got there asses kicked, they found out the diffrence between having to aim and the computer aiming for you like in EVE. This is the source of the attitude to which you speak. To this day NO EVE PLAYER HAS BECOME A TOP SLAYER. They cant do it.

That implies that top slayers are playing dust, which is a crock.
People who actually like FPS games and have skill value 30 constant FPS over anything else. That was why the playerbase evacuated after uprising 1.0, because the FPS and hit detection went in the crapper for a visual upgrade that wasn't anywhere near worth it, and people realized the game was doomed.

No that is not me posting but read between the lines of his 6th point... Here let me explain more. EvE players look for someone to blame. The attrition rate is growing there too and the split loyalties and talent sent to Dust was misguided initally. Then Rattati happened here. Now marketing is pushing lore there with the "Drifters" in an attempt to keep players. It's not the Dust players fault on the money sink this game WAS now it's in the positive, yet the EvE players never embraced the idea of ONE UNIVERSE//ONE WAR to the extent to drive content rather than accept whatever CCP gives us... And people, THAT is about to change.

No it is not.
When you are in your merc quarters, in the top left there is a bit of information, including the system that you are in. That system is in new eden.
Local is not a dust channel. It is the chat channel for that particular system. Just because your corpse and those of other dusties of your race are dumped there does not give you possession of local.
