I was a Dust bunny first then moved up to Eve and I have pretty much developed a stuck up attitude towards most of Dust.
Why?
Constant childishness. Sorry but the Dust community has the worst representation to the outside world of any game I have ever seen.
Planetary Conquest Players - God these guys make Dust look so bad. I have been sitting in chats before with a bunch of Eve guys (on my Eve char) and had a Dust player come in demanding to speak to a person who will not name. Upon one of the guys telling him that he was AFK he proceeded to begin ranting about them taking their last district and its a violation of the rules and on and on and on despite several people in the channel telling him they don't give a flying **** and he needs to shut it.
I have only run into a few guys in Eve that actually had anything to say about CCP wasting their sub money on Dust and their gripes were more on the fact that CCP wasted their money on such an epic flop. Almost every gripe was the fact that out of all the Dust players they have run into 90% of them were unbearable to be around.
Basically:
Eve - Overall represents itself as having one of the highest average player IQs of any game. Filled with doctors, lawyers, hedge fund managers, foreign dignitaries, and other high paying / important jobs. Sure there are scammers and people that attempt to rage out but both of them are quickly dismissed in favor of a good stat debate, some RP, world politics discussion, or occasionally some awesome drunk night stories.
Dust - Presents itself as the most absolute group of childish trolls ever. Most channels with over 20 people can not make it 10 minutes without some one name calling, arguing, throwing a tantram, whining about being scammed, and other activity just not conducive to proving you have a maturity level above a 12 year old. Given many in Dust do not fall into this group but they are also the ones who just hop into squads and run along into battle as oppose to even being around the activity pointed out above.
So you tell me why these two communities would not merge well.

Satyr Dante wrote: Bwhahahh thats ******* funny as hell..i tried a 1 week trial of eve and learned NOTHING cause EVERYONE was a childish prick telling me to quit when i asked for any help or tips...people wonder why Eve is on the decline and its because its own players are strangling it to death with their superiority complexs...**** we may be childish and assholes but you know what? We are ACTUALLY HELPFUL to our newberries.....you could switch the desciptions of each game and they will still match cause ik from first hand how childish you ******* act in videos and on streams...your no different from us..hell your worse tahn us actually
Where to start.......
You probably got told off because you were asking basic stuff that is covered in the tutorials proving you had never put in a bit of effort which will get you shut down real quick with 99% of Eve players.
Eve saw a drop in numbers this year because of the banning of ISBoxer which lead to people dumping lots of their alts.
Actually helpful to newberries? That's just funny and we all know it.
When I do stream I do not stream my comms so sorry but you have me seriously confused with someone else. Not sure what switching the descriptions has to do with that anyway.
0.5% 1% 5% 10% 25% 50% 75% 90% 95% 99% 99.95% 17 18 21 23 26 31 36 43 48 59 75
Above is a basic chart of Eve player ages done by CCP Quant which can be seen here. Only 25% of Eve users are age 26 or younger. We do not have the luxury of such a graph for Dust but we all know that the number of players in Dust that are age 26 or younger is much higher than that.
I'm sorry if you were offended by the fact that you feel like you did not fit into the Eve group which I pointed out and do feel like you fit too much into the Dust group but that does not change the truth.

Maken Tosch wrote:As a result, a lot of players who have established large number of alts that were active at once were suddenly forced to ditch such efforts. This is reflected in the decline of the peak concurrent users in Eve-Offline. Source: http://eve-offline.net/?server=tranquilityMost number of players online at once as of January 1, 2015: 40,579 Most number of players online at once as of today: 29,222 Pretty indicative of what the composition of the player base was the whole time. So in reality, it is very much likely that we never lost players. We just lost a lot alts.
Eve lost more alts than that but the new NPE has been doing wonders. I have run into more guys in the last 2 months that have only been on for a month or two than total over the course of my roughly 1 year in Eve.

Maken Tosch wrote: I would not be surprised if the NPE has been working wonders. In all the years I have played Eve Online since 2008, I have seen the new-player experience improve vastly over time. Back in 2003, the NPE was that you go through some weird text-based tutorial and at the end of it all you were left stranded somewhere in the middle of the wrong part of town with a rookie ship and no idea what to do next. Today? Everything is explained to you in a highly intuitive and interactive way the moment you appear in space.
Starters systems (the same as the ones we have in Dust) are offered as safe havens for new players. As long as the players stay there, no one is allowed to gank them, scam them, rob them, or extort them. But those systems are small in terms of available resources and they are not profitable to be in if you are a veteran player. These conditions then encourage you to leave the safe system and thus become fair game to the rest of New Eden. But by then you will have already gotten a basic idea of what to do next and where to go.
I was on a new alt the other day doing some market scanning and was surprised as hell when a chat window popped up without me accepting it. This window was none other than a CCP GM asking "me" if I had any questions or needed any help. I was a bit scared to do so but I told him that I had been on the game a little over a year and was just toying with an alt. I proceeded to have a short but great conversation with him and learned just how in depth NPE had really become before he went off to help the real newbies.
