I always overheat with the weapon, whether I get a charge shot or spam R1. AND if I shoot someone from a few dozen meters away, the small recoil makes hit detection harder to control. The only time I get 90% of my kills is when they are like 2 meters away
So any tips from expert ScR users? |

there is no such thing as an ScR expert you are either a scrub or a tryhard
if you want to not overheat use Amarr assault and level it to max or stop firing so much that you overheat
a charged shot does not make the gun overheat you can still squeeze out more bullets
the kick is linear so learn to compensate or let your gun recenter after shots (if you fire it fast enough the kick wont really matter which it shouldn't even matter as there's barely any to begin with)
use kbm if you can press a mouse button faster then you can a DS3/4 trigger
also headshots, with any semi auto gun the only time you should aim for the body is pretty much almost never actually unless you are spraying and praying which would be done better with a sidearm but can be done just as easily with the assault variant

Ignoring the post above lol... Arkena had a guide to using it maybe someone will links, might be outdated due to all the nerfs to the weapon.
You'll want to learn by "feel" when the overheat comes, by this I mean shooting at a wall and perfecting a rhythm and knowing when to stop. For use in CQC I suggest you leave the right stick alone and use aim assist to your advantage, don't move the gun only your body. In Ads remember about the vertical kick, aim for the torso and let it go up. It is also important to know when to spam and when to charge. If you feel it is a safe target go for the charge, use it carefully because it will lead to an overheat to finish the target. Spam only when you are in danger as you will deal out the most damage this way. I wish I could make myself clear but it is awfully late.

Everything you say is dead wrong. You should be banned for mis informing players. I've been using the ScR since day 1 so step off. First of all you always shoot the body. Get your facts straight scrub, I'll see you on the other end of my ScR.

Pre-charge your weapon behind corners, use your hip-fire a lot (it's way more accurate than may think), spam only you're very close to your target and don't you're Rambo ^^ You'll get use to the overheat and you'll learn to know when it'll blow up in your face (with and without charged shots).
Those who say that it's a scrub weapon never actually played with it. The assault variant maybe, but not the normal one ;)

Forever ETC wrote:Ignoring the post above lol....
now now play nice, am I wrong with what I said? everything I stated is correct is it not? you don't have to get "the feel" as the more you skill into your suit or skills these "feels" will change
practicing does help as you learn how the gun works but its simple it doesn't take a genius to figure it out
you can use charged shots in almost any situation provided that you get the chance to actually charge it up
the gun is semi auto and deals a high amount of damage especially to shields meaning if you are missing you need to work on aiming (AA ruins your aim it does not help with head shots it only helps with target acquisition meaning shots you may have not otherwise made still hit as your cross hairs follow the target to some degree which is why you have the try hards tell you not to aim and just strafe)
if you want to get good with any rifle just practice till you get the hang of it theres not much to the ScR no real tricks or tips other then those that would be considered cheating such as charging up while running or using modded controllers and such to achieve greater RoF
the only thing you really should know is how to manage the heat (doesn't really matter much if you use amarr assault 5) you can time your shots to get the best RoF without overheating or shoot as fast as you can before stopping to cool down (shorter cool downs as you skill into it) you can charge your shots and fire only charged shots as they will cool down faster then you can charge them
basically anyone that tries to tell you otherwise is either egotistical. a try hard, or a scrub
if you were to talk about another rifle there are more things to keep in mind but for the ScR range is no issue ( learn to compensate for kick or start to aim low if you cant compensate) CQC you fire off as fast as you can while keeping in mind the heat build up if you are hitting your target the heat should not even be a problem as the 15 or so shots that you can squeeze out should be more then enough to put most suits down, you should always aim a semi auto weapon tho even in CQC not ADS but at least putting your cross hairs on target (don't listen to someone that says not to worry about aiming) if you miss a few shots you lose a lot of DPS it may not matter too much since you can still deal a lot of damage but you want to put down your target as fast as possible
whatever nerf it took I already see changes in the stats although playing with it still feels the same as it used to and the problems that people complained about are still there
I can see many arguments already trying to disprove what I am trying to tell you but you will see the difference if you try both ways
first you should always try to aim for the head with any gun as you deal more damage that way, aiming for the body is okay if you don't have the best of aim but its worth practicing
the kick is not a real problem I keep saying to learn to compensate all you have to do is drag down on your right analog stick to keep your cross hairs on target linear kick means you can very easily adjust to it but it may take some time to get used to if you have not done this before (compensating is a big part of PS2 or games such as CSGO and many other FPS games that are more tactical) range is not a problem if you can compensate as you will deal more damage then anyone else RR users cant compensate for the kick as it is seemingly random (it jumps all over the place not just straight up) so they will likely have to burst to stay accurate giving you the opportunity to charge your shots or burst them down as fast as you can once you can compensate
not everyone that uses a ScR is a scrub or try hard and what not but it certainly is not a hard rifle to use, you don't have to worry about range or bursting it just right nor funky kick, it is a rifle that rewards accuracy but you aren't exactly punished as much for missing as you are with other weapons
if your biggest concern is overheating then learn how many shots you can fire (as fast as possible) before is overheats and keep that in mind when engaging a target although it doesn't take much work or attention to glance over to see how much heat you have built up
I'd like you to note that I am trying to give you as much advice as possible while others only try to discredit and disprove things that pro gamers do all the time, if you want to watch a few videos on compensation just go to you tube and watch a few simply search "how to compensate for recoil"
also about the comment that forever ETC made notice how many of the things Arkena said are basically the same things I have mentioned, and keep in mind that there have been small changes

In any case, I recommend picking your fights and staying at range. If your target gets in your face, fire rapidly. If they are farther away, charge shot. In your optimal you should try to open with a charge shot and finish strong with a burst.

The only way to avoid the overheat (IMO) is the instinct. With some experience you can tell without looking that the gun will overheat soon and then you stop. Using semi-charged shots helps a lot. Also Scr is a stubborn one, if you go too rough on her by spamming she will back slap you.

Learn to count shots, or at least get a feeling for when it is about to overheat and swap to a sidearm, timing this correctly while in cqc with the SCR will allow you to walk through a dozen of people without overheating, only pausing slightly to reload, one of your guns at a time to move forward.
Or just use the SCR to strip away shields to then swap to the SMG to strip armor, this will allow the gun to cool down between kills and get you the most bang of your bucks.

Charge it. Hold it 4 a while. Tell me how long the red bar is...
After few shots U can charge it without overheat but red bar will cool down and stay red on some height.
I got all amarr line proto. Skilled into SCR just after it was released.

Biggest tip I have for you:
Make pulling the trigger as fast as you can second nature.
Most people, under low stress situations (shooting at walls, no enemies nearby) can pull the trigger as fast as they can to get the "modded controller" effect.
However, in an intense combat situation, you may stop thinking about pulling the trigger as fast as you can. You may autonomously start shooting at a ROF that is naturally comfortable to you. So make sure, when you get into those stressful "Oh ****" moments, that you automatically, without thinking, start shooting as fast as you possibly can.
It's all in the reflexes. Practice this, if needed.
