I'm sorry, I have at least 1000 mass driver kills against shield suits, everything from Caldari Sentinels to Scouts with 400 HP. You just don't normally see huge amounts of shields unless they are running proto.
Whenever I would run into the rare proto Caldari Assault I would just ignore them and run away. But now literally any suit is capable of 400+ shields with excess armor, and I wasn't expecting everyone and their mother to run these 900+ ehp suits
So what am I supposed to do? Give in to a rifle that I don't like? No matter what suit they run they will always have a layer of shields, and shield killing weapons can't do **** about the layer of 500+ armor that everyone has. The Mass Driver used to be extremly useful for bursting through that armor after the 200-300 shields on most suits. I used it for that ability, to hit around corners, destroy equipment, and of course to scare enemies out of hiding as a support weapon for my teammates.
But 400? 500? That was not a common number to see everywhere.
I play to have fun, not just to skill into the most OP fit that everyone else is using simply because it's good against the meta. If there was a mass driver weapon that did extra damage to shields then of course I'd switch to that if I saw everyone using shield suits. But there isnt, so I can't do that like someone who enjoys long-range rifles who would be able switch from the RR to the SR and keep the same relative playstyle.

Yesterday I got at least 10-20 kills per game running it on a logi. So yeah, going an entire game without a single kill for me is saddening. Heck I can't even run my officer MDs since they broke the Logibros. Much like I said in another thread where someone was complaining they couldn't get kills with their scrambler rifle because people could actually withstand the hits. GOOD. If you aren't getting kills with your fit because the playing field has been leveled and lower tier suits don't die in two or three hits thanks to them being able to fit more and better mods, GOOD. You shouldn't be in here complaining you suddenly aren't getting all the kills you used to because 'those stupid noobs are stacking HP!' They're stacking HP because they kept getting one-shotted or killed without any time to react. And it's exactly because of what you said. 50 kills in a single game with only a single weapon. You don't see the problem there? That you basically, by yourself, wiped out nearly half of their clones? With one weapon? That you can't do that nearly as easy now is a good sign, to me.
Cough cough,preach it brother!

The benefits of having shield and armor based weaponry equipped do not outweigh the synergy of racial light weapons being coupled with their corresponding commando bonus. unless you are not capable of doing what you need even with the racial bonus.
I am not saying dont use it, I am saying have a fit set up for when it is useful to have the racial bonus, and to have a fit set up for when the racial bonus means jack squat against the enemies you are fighting.
min maxing works best when you have advantage, and sometimes you don't, and when that happens you have to adapt.

I would like to hijack this thread and say that unless you're getting head shots the shotty needs a bit of a damage buff
Mass driver has the same problem and that's standard suits running around with almost 900 ehp. |

It is good how they are now. They are worth it. Look at this.
Gk.0 Creodron breach assault rifle Boundless breach smg Core NADE Pro scanner 3 pro ferroscale 2 pro rep 3 Krins mods
Compare that to this fit- Assault g-1 Breach ar Breach smg Locus nade 3 basic ferro 2 basic rep Basic scan 3 Krins
Which is better? The proto one. The only thing that the slots did was just make running lower gear better. High tiered stuff is still better. Stop whining, use flux and md and GET GUD lmao

I'd like to point out that armor is the last layer of defense, I'm not sure if you realize that. If you kill someone by taking out their shield then the mechanics of the game are seriously broken. The way this game is truly meant to be played is this: have one weapon (either main or sidearm or some type of grenade) that takes shield down, then have another that damages armor. Its just a matter of getting the combo that fits you well, not using the flavor of the month and then ***** when it gets balanced.
By all means, fine if you want to use those too op weapons to prove a point to CCP, but don't complain once your exploits have shown them what they need to do to balance them out.

Breach assault rifle plus breach smg plus nades is the best combo in game.

I'm not complaining that I can't get 30 kills. I'm frustrated and sad that I can't manage a single one with a weapon that I've developed a lot of skill with to make DECENT where most players would never even give the weapon a chance.
It's one thing when an overpowered weapon is indirectly nerfed because something else was buffed. It's another when a weapon is made near useless from a point where it was mediocre at best before.
As a logi my primary goal is not kills anyways. Most matches the kills I get are simply defending a position or pushing back the enemy from their encampment of nanohives and cover. Generally the alpha damage kills players that don't react to it properly, or don't think I can hit them accurately.
The fact that this weapon takes 4-15 seconds to kill someone if you land every shot means the enemy usually has plenty of time to run away if they engage me first. There is no "instantly killing" someone with this weapon like you can burst down a mlt suit with an ACR in half a second. (i mean unless you can direct him them 2-3 times in a row...but that's still 2-3 full seconds and a **** ton of luck)
Dude WTF are you talking about.????
This is an overpowered weapon and its not really a skill weapon...its an area suppressor. By that I mean noob gun for guys with no aim and usually jump boots on. That thing kills most guys before they even have time to react. You have already fired 4 shots before the first one hits , and by then its too late to move. Honestly, this weapon just need to betaken out anyway. The map designs and roof camping with noobs in commando suits using it ruin more than a fair share of games. So sorry you can't just spam the trigger from a roof and get kills...how about you actually try using a rifle...you know like the game was supposed to be played?
Also, Cals are not the issue. Armor is the stacking issue. No more Cals on the field than there were a week ago and unless you are running proto fit you don't have the PG to any more shields even with the slots. |

I am 100% in love with the Breach Assault Rifle. Personally, I run Breach AR, Core Nades, and Flaylock Pistol on my Gal Assault. I also like the Tac and dare i say the regular Assault Rifle

Fitting diversity at lower tiers is a problem. This is because a number of modules, that are fine at proto, are substandard at basic.
Kincats are poor at advanced and basic, with ridiculous fitting costs. Shield regulators are barely worth it below complex. Shield rechargers/energisers need a buff in general. Range amps are worthless at all tiers. Get rid of the inner scan ring. Damps are kind of rubbish unless you are a scout due to the Gal logi bonus.
Still, I'm surprised people are stacking shields that high, considering they compete with damage mods.

How the hell are you NOT getting mass driver kills??? Probably because he had a few bad matches. He is right that the new slot layout will change the dynamic of confronting skilled Caldari players, especially since the Caldari assault is the most used fit in the game.
WTF again..... CAL is not nearly the most used assault suit. lol They are virtually extinct, and again THERE IS NO MORE PG AVAILABLE TO ADD SHIELDS>>>> So, you can add 10 more high slots. They are not adding shields.

I run Sentinels with 25% Explosive resistance and over 1000 HP, and I still have to clear out of areas because they are being covered by a Mass Driver.
- When you are taking damage from a Mass Driver there is no indication of which direction the shot came from, so it is much more difficult to locate and engage the shooter.
- Mass Drivers can damage you even when you are hiding behind cover. You can't just hunker down. You need to clear the area.
Usually I don't get killed by the Mass Driver, but they keep my Shields down and damage faster than my Armor can Rep, so I can't recover. So it is usually a Rifle or Sniper who takes me out, but they usually would not have been able to without the Mass Driver preventing me from recovering.
The Mass Driver is an effective support and Area denial weapon. When used right it prevents the enemy from recovering and whittles them down so your Squad mates can take them out. Sometimes if you can pound on them long enough, or they area already low health, then you will get a kill with it.
Hand/Eye coordination cannot be taught. For everything else there is the Learning Coalition.

The problem isn't how much damage your weapon does against shield, because its meant to protect against explosions (obvious enough right?)
The true problem is the ability to dual tank.
Suggestion: buff Shields regen and delays, add severe penalties to Caldari using armour (same vice versa for Amarr and gallente.) so that there is no point in running it with Armor plates, something like half effective HP double penalty to movement speed.
But since armour is superior to shield anyway, the shield buff would need to be great, like I said hp regen increase, depleted/standard delay decrease, leave HP the same and maybe make Caldari suits have a tiny bit faster movement speed? |

I agree and I feel as though the people who dual tank aren't even utilizing the suits to their max ability, in a way they are being limited.
If CCP were smart, they would add the same penalty that they do in EVE for ships that dual tank: SUPER SLOW SPEEDS. It makes sense that if you are dual tanking, that you would have to be extremely slow, allowing easier picking off at a range, js.

Precisely. Dust needs to take more of a influence on how suits and weapons work from eve, even though they are completely different games.
Hybrid weapons are also a problem. True teamwork would benefit from specialised weaponry I.e rail rifles do 50% against shield, scrams do 50% against armour needing cooperation to take down a target. But I guess dust and it's community aren't ready for that yet. Although whether that would even work on a shooter is debatable. |
