*RANT* First off; HTFU I am fcking tired of starting a match with 12 players of which 5 leave immediatley because they such fcking pussies that they don't even want to play the game. Then when you only have 7 left against 16 the team starts rage quitting and filtering out of the match leaving 5 cats to struggle against whole squads.
Harden the fck up. Srsly. Play the game and stop pussyfooting around your kdr. No one gives a flying fck whether you have a 4.0 kdr or a .07 kdr. What matters is results and you aint got results if you leave match.
I'm mad. To compound this problem, matchmacking is what makes players leave because even if the teams are numerically equal; they will never be equal in skill, buying power or just plain cjones. Spineless fcks. I'm sorry if I offend anyone, you probably have your mother to blame for raising such a fcking pssy. Srly
**END OF RANT**
Idea
- - 0.1 k/dr for each time you leave the match +an additional - 0.1 for each time after the first. So te second time in the day you leave a match you lose - 0.2 the third - 0.3 etc. To be reset at downtimw
- - 50K Isk for backing out of your contract + an extra 50k for each one after that. To be reset at downtime.
- 5 minute waiting penalty for leaving a match AKA coward fatigue. Thats right. Your a pssy and a disgrace to the merc community in general. You're bad and you should feel bad. 2 extra minutes for each battleleft after that.
Countermeasure for the afk group that will emerge
To be given any sp or isk
- the current warpoint system
- 5 minute redline timer. If you're in your redline for more then 5 mins then you die. They are paying you to do your fcking job. HTFU

Totally agree.
But first let them fix the damn lags. On some maps even move difficult. I'm not even talking about the fact that it is impossible to hurt the some enemy. And how about the fact that the part of team was not set up. Every day even more difficult for the public to play. First - fix game. And then impose penalties for exit. |

No.
Is it a squads fault of one of the following reasons ?
- lob-sided match 10 v 15 etc - stacked tryhards (once mercs see a full squad, a lot just back out) - squad member d/c // scotty error - stacked teams, 16 random corp tags, vs 8 corp tags and an NPC army
Actual fixes.
- Meta-locked pubs /tryhards - Teambuilder/MU adjustments (some cases of it working, overall player count makes it impossible) - Battle Finder/Pub Battle adjustments - mix Aq/Dom search. make Ambush NO squads. - Remove Skirmish from rotation, so it is only FW/PC.
Once trying to play a game isn't some messed up Icelandic torture method, punishments for leaving battle can be added. |

TBH any fix is a good fix. But I've been seeing a lot of matches start of with even teams and 1/3 through the match all of the sudden you realize half the team left... I thought at first we were getting uneven matches but a closer look seemed to point out otherwise. People were simply leaving. Anyways like I said. Any fix is a good fix at this point

Sorry ghaz, but no, I am not interested in locking people into matches that either have idiot blues, unbalanced teams, their squad lost a member (or they instead opted to do something else) or maybe they're just looking to complete a single mission and don't have much play-time to do it in and so they're going to search for their best chance of doing that.
Even if this game wasperfect I am never fond of any system that punishes people for leaving because stuff like real life happens.

in addition if there were tired rewards then the stopmpers and newbies would hopefully get separated
low pay contracts for beginners that give extra rewards such as skill books 100-150k+ isk payouts mid pay contracts that give extra rewards in the form of equipment 200-300k isk payouts high pay contracts that give extra rewards in forms of officer gear 350-450k+ isk payouts
the contracts could be color coded or coded by difficulty in accordance to security example 1.0 status = newbie friendly matches 0.9-0.1 = mid level contracts the lower the security the higher the risk the higher the payouts 0.0=high risk high rewards
this information should be shown at the top left corner when looking at the map in battle and at the EOM screen so try hard KD padders can be easily called out
also the battles could be meta lvl locked so that no proto stompers can use their high lvl gear in 1.0-.05 security systems |

These are all ****** excuses apart from the first being a side-effect of quitters and the third being an actual problem.
The first is because of player not willing to get any better leaving matches that might be difficult. It's not even over KDR it's over people wanting to have fun. People don't want to try.

I would say give people 3 free early exits with no penalty. This means anytime before the "return to merc quarters" option. There are some legit reasons to leave a match and, sorry, if 8 people leave my match the first minute and 4 more leave within the next two, I'm not sticking stound to get farmed. I have also had matches where the squad deploys and one person doesn't get pulled. There are the occasional disconnects and serious Lag issues as well.
After the first 3 early exits, every early exit after that is a fine of 100,000 ISK. This will be divided up among the remaining teammates equally at the end of the match regardless of ranking provided they have either 150 WP or a total of 3 kills + deaths. This means people can't stick around and AFK for the free money. They have to participate. That way, the more people who quit, the more it incentivizes those who haven't left to stick around. If everyone but me leaves, I will gladly get my ass stomped into the ground for a 1.5 million ISK payday.

Yeah... i was a bit ragy when I wrote this since I had gone a couple of games with the same ****. I ate a snickers and am a lot better but there has to be some sort of compromise between the players. A bit of half and half because I know a lot of people simply look at an enemy team and leave.
Or maybe not penalties tbh. There could be incentives instead like a multiplier for the payout for fighting in handicapped matches...
It doesnt have to be all stick. I wouldn't mind the carrot if you understand the reference. You know some cream for after you get fcked so hard you can't walk straight for the next two matches .

I like the incentive idea as well. If you finish with 13-16 players on your side, no bonus. 10-13 players payments bumped by 50% 6-9 players, payment bumped by 75%, 3-5 players, payments bumped 100%. 1-2 players, pay bumped by 150%.
The only problem is this does nothing to keep people from leaving. Without the penalty, the same people will still quit 30 seconds into the match and the same people will stick around to be stomped because od the higher payouts.
That is why I figured my penalty. They can even "lore it". You pay 100k to secure your contract. If you fulfill your terms, you get your hold back plus payout. If you don't hold your end of the bargain, you forfeit your holding fee.

I think an effective solution would be if someone leaves a match and then immediately queues again put them in the same match. If there was a scotty error this function would allow that squad to properly deploy and if a player was lobby shopping then you get an effective wait time penalty for that particular game mode.

You're right
Matchmaking is a huge problem - it's almost completely F'd up
many matched this week ended with my side or the opponents with half of the players they started with.
i finished out many matches with 4 or 5 players remaining.
I can enjoy some of these matches because I run scout and can hide and hack stuff. But it is usually very frustrating and boring
I usually only leave the battle if I don't want to play a particular map ( i.e.: Caldari facility - Domination)

I stay in stacked matches.. wasting time, ISK and what little patience I have left for Dust.. not everyone will I have given up caring on mercs quitting battles, sometimes when it's due to seeing 6 DMG tags, I get hatemail too
But the teams are rarely perfect, it takes effort from the players - which have no incentive to put in the effort

That has been a serious problem. We need to have a system in place to punish players who leave a match so many times. There is always the option of locking them into the match like how Splatoon does it.

For starters, remove all of the "Win x battles" daily missions and replace all of them with the "Join and complete x battles." I feel like if someone has one of those missions that requires more than a few wins and they are constrained on time, they are more likely to leave the battle if they feel that it will be a loss. I admit that I do this.

You can't force players to play through crap matches. They'll end up leaving to play other games, and we can't afford a drop in headcounts. In my estimation, a better idea would be to either fix the crap matches, or make players actually want to play the crap matches. For former can be accomplished through adjustments to squad size and matchmaking. The latter could be accomplished through changes to pay.

That does not fix the reason why many people quit in the first place. All you do is punish and annoy them, when they are most probably trying to find some measure of fun (which is the entire point of videogames: FUN), or they are just trying to get a key mission completed ASAP.
An ACTUAL solution would involve:
* Replacing the daily "Win 1 match and get a key" with "Complete a match, winning or losing, to get a key." Missions that involve "Winning" encourage lobby shopping and such, thus contrubuting to quitting matches that look like they will end in loss.
* Fix Scotty. Suddenly, squad deploying functions as it should. No workaround. Problem actually fixed.
* Tier/matchmaking. Going up against people in proto when you want to mess around in BPO/Militia/STD fits is often not enjoyable to non-masochists.
*Tiericide. Making STD/ADV suits suck a little less compared to their proto counterparts means that going up against proto users while you are not in proto is an easier pill to swallow, and would result in less quitting.
* Provide more incentive to sit through a match, fighing other players even when it looks like you will lose and get your teeth kicked in. Such a thing partially deals with Risk/Reward, and more importantly involves game-design 101: Make player want to play.
A thing about solutions: they should actually "solve" whatever problem you are looking to fix.

That said, I don't think you understand what freedom of choice means. Maybe you should go look that up before posting asinine nonsense about how you think everyone should do things your way? If your fun can be ruined by someone else then you're doing it wrong and the HTFU comment applies to you.
Let me put this in a way you can understand: This is not a job. I have a job and I don't want another one. This is a game. I play this to have fun. If I'm not having fun, then I'm going to leave. It's got nothing to do with trying or not wanting to (for previous comments that refer to laziness) and quite frankly there's this equation to consider:
My Fun's Importance > Your Fun's Importance
If it comes right down to it, then to hell with your fun.
Secondly, punishing people for staying in a game where they are already not having fun, is even less fun. In a game where you have nothing to lose, a la halo some people might stay, because they have nothing to lose. This isn't that game. People have potentially a lot of isk that they will lose by staying and I'll post up another variant of the equation for you below:
My ISK's Importance > Your ISK's importance.
Thirdly, I'm not a child. You can't punish me because I don't want to play the game the way you think I should play the game. If we want people to stay in a game where (and here's the crucial point again) they have something to lose, then they have to be incentivised as others have said.
If you go the punitive route, people will just stop playing.
I like some of the incentive ideas. The keys are not worth the paper they're printed on for me, but I'd change all the win x battles to complete X battles. Much more reasonable. |

^ what he said plus we are supposed to be mercenaries not rank & file military. If the contract is crap then why do it especially if you don't have the gear necessary to leave the red line if the match has gotten that bad, like a scout suit for example and you specd into heavies. |

Everything Krias said. Especially this:
