Well, we'll start here
http://www.vg247.com/2013/06/07/ccp-fans-buying-ps3s-for-dust-514-developer-claims/
then go here;
http://www.playstationlifestyle.net/2015/03/21/dust-514-is-now-profitable/
and here
http://www.vg247.com/2015/03/21/project-legion-dust-514-ccp-pc-ps3/
with the last one, they say they are going to keep working on dust.
My question;
Could Dust not be ported to both the PS4 while at the same time prefecting it for Legion? Then we could play both :)
Also, no porting our progress to either pc or ps4
Let us start anew, its where the funs at.

I disagree, I think if ccp were smart they'd wait to see what happens in q1 of 2016, which I believe is when the occulus rift is suppose to drop. I watched a video with eve valkirie being played on a vr headset and it looked fking amazing. Could you imagine how good dust would be on a vr headset, it would be totally immersive and if ccp times it right and dust/legion is the first available fps on a vr headset and they manage to do it right, they could be the next biggest thing in gaming history. Well such is my dream, my dreams more times then not turn into nightmares... |

Or even what happens at e3 this year, I believe one of the main focuses of e3 this year will be vr headsets. I believe it will be the future of gaming, movies and pretty much all media, you'll have virtual stores to walk through and shop and **** like that, eventually it's gonna be amazing. Us humans are gonna be so fat and complete shut ins, its gonna be great |

why Dust should not be ported to PS4
because PC is better and doesn't have the restrictions that consoles have its also cheaper to build a pc then to have to buy a whole other console just to play Dust, also warframe and planet side 2 look better on PC so thats bs of an argument if you want to use it
CCP needs to keep their games on PC so everyone can have easy access to all their games |

CCP started and has been successful ever since on the PC, this is one major reason as to why I'm so much more fond of dust being on the PC. It should have started on the PC. That way this game would have at least more people than now. It won't suffer from limitations of the PS3

suffer how is a consol gamer going to suffer? you can easily use controllers on PC
its cheaper then buying a PS4 and if you have enough to buy one or already bought one then buying a PC should be just as easy, you get access to more free games and more content so why do you say they suffer?? perhaps its your own ignorance that keeps you from seeing that consoles are just glorified computers with their respective software |

What I do not get is why people are interpreting the "we are profitable" statement as meaning CCP will want to port right away.
Don't you people realize that by sticking around and pouring money into the game on PS3 we have essentially encouraged CCP to keep it here as long as possible.
Why would they take a profitable situation with a small but strong player base and throw it away in hopes that people will follow up to the PS4 and not stray away to other games on the newer platforms. This would be foolish in so many different ways I can not even begin to explain the absolute lack of business sense that a decision like that would show.
I would like to say your welcome on my part for casting as many votes as possible (dollars down the drain) to keep Dust on the PS3 into the near future in hopes that CCP will have continued the process of removing their head from their rectum as they have been accomplishing for a short amount of time now. I would also like to thank those who sent a similar message to CCP through their wreck less spending on strong boxes and warbarge components. At the rate we are going CCP will allow Dust 514 to rot on the PS3 until absolutely the last minute.
This is exactly why we have issues with the amazing system which is the free market. Consumers are fooled into believing that spending money is their form of casting a vote when in reality at times the vote that is needed is the absolute lack of cash flow forcing a company to need to move forward on a new path. |

It wasn't intended as a right away post. Its intention was to provide CCP with positive reasons to keep this game going onto a different platform after they have 'perfected it' as they termed it on the PS3.

First, imagine the number of eve players that want to play Dust, but aren't going to buy a console specifically for it.
Then, look back at Dust's history. It came in at the end of the PS3's life. It was good for a little while, then we ended up here, because the PS4 came out.
A port to PS4 would be a bad call, because it would just repeat past mistakes. Dust has an established fanbase on the PS3, but it's small. It's safe to assume that a PC port would attract a lot more Eve players, attract other PC gamers, and pull some of the PS3 crowd over to PC, just like the PC crowd hopped on the PS3 for Dust.
Porting it to PS4 wouldn't help the player base grow at all; a lot of PS4 players have access to PS3s, yet they still don't play Dust.

As CCP have said, Legion is not Dust. No reason why Legion cannot run side by side with Dust (once its been fixed and on the PS4). Yes alot of people have a PS3, however, due to the current condition of Dust, many have quit and moved on. Others have sold their PS3s in order to get a PS4. And yes the current playerbase is small, however, it brings them profit as it stands now.

I don't think anyone disagrees that Dust needs to be ported eventually.
I think one of the main priorities of CCP and the CPM should be to prepare Dust for a port ASAP. There's a lot to be ironed out before a port happens. A port today could be catastrophic. You don't want peoples first impressions of the game to be centered on missing content, squad glitches, comms glitches, clunky movement, balance issues etc.
And yes, I also think Dust should stay on console. Leave EVE to the PC.

So you just want eve players to enjoy dust and f*ck the actual people who support and has supported the game for the past two yet which is the current player base? A lot of ps3 players moved to ps4 because of what happened in fanfest 14 that is why they dont play dust anymore, but are still willing to try dust again if it ever gets ported to ps4 with better mechanics. I dounbt 2% of the ps3 crowd will move to PC including my self because face it dude, i dont wanna play pub matches the rest of my life like some of you. To be competitve ill probably need a 600 to 1000 dollar rig including the mouse and keyboard which are another 200 dollars.

Item 1 in your list is no longer valid. The EVE Online players that were buying PS3s already have them. The ones that weren't ever going to are never going to now. So that is capped.
Item 2 is only true because CCP has cut Dust514 staff to the bone. In fact, considering the few remaining that are lead by our ever resolute CCP Rattati they have actually cut off several limbs as well.
Item 3 is based on the above. CCP Rattati volunteered to keep the ship afloat. The beginning beliefs were that he was limited purely to database tweaks. But he has improved that situation, improved the art asset tool path (maybe someone else's work, don't know), modified both the client and the server (or had it modified) with the result that development is ongoing but only with the skeleton crew.
Valkarie is going to receive all the buzz, PR and support. Project Legion is a bunch of art assets trying to find a game to connect to. The PvE portion might make it worthwhile for EVE Online players (pod peeps) to run in addition to EVE. But no words on any progress in over a year bodes ill for its success.
Now, by all reports the newest consoles require more work. More art, more development, massive changes and UE3+ is a poor solution. It would be a crime to burden any game on PS4 with UE3. And UE4 is a massive change. Epic games commented repeatedly that the scripting is a massive change. However, it is required as the UE3 scripting is not supported.
So, as soon as you can cough up several million real world dollars there is a chance it might happen. CCP is still stinging from getting its hands slapped by their stockholders for the $21M failed vampire project.
As far as not moving my characters to PS4, well - good bye then. I have lost much progress several times by CCP. Switching to an entirely new CCP game (which is what you are suggesting) isn't ever going to happen for me. I will never trust them again. Fool me once and all that stuff.
Good Luck

Edit out the part where you say we cant keep our SP and you will get a TON of likes.
Dust is my favorite game of all time, yet I am not playing it lately because I have a PS4. Currently I am playing new games on that because my entire clan moved to the 4.
But should DUST 514 Become a ps4 title, this AMARRIAN conglomerate will awaken once again.
You see... Many of us vets have invested far too much into our characters to just say "lets all start over."
The fact is, DUST is supposed to be an MMO. An ongoing title, reversing that would be reversing the lore... Which is unacceptable.
All of our work, all of our grinding, sweating, and sandwich making right before the game starts, would all have been for nought.
Let the noobs of DUST on the ps4 wallow and scream when they see a ps3 vet on the battlefiled. May the ps3 DUST vets be immortal in their majestic presence.
Let matchmaking keep the noobs away from us, until they reach 15 mill SP, and even then, they arent ready.
For the fear that we shall strike into their hearts, will cripple any well established twitch streamer.
Let the DUST 514 VETERANS rise on Twitch via PS4 share, and may we be respected in the sony gaming community for our teamwork, tactics, sound communication, and badass fittings.
Let us teach them how to lead by example, all while being a servant unto our brethren, and sisteren.
DUST 514 IS NO GAME, IT IS A CULTURE.
Let us do this CCP, it is time for greatness.
(and yes thats a PS4 tagline dagnabbit!!)

Hmm maybe i should pose it as a question. I only say this due to npe (which we know ccp has a problem dealing with) as I would rather have a load of players playing the game than have my sp (not that there is much to spend it on right now) or my isk (which would be a huge advantage over others). To me it just seems like it would keep players away from the game, rather than bringing them to it. Hopefully matchmaking will be fixed by then so these can be separate.

dude you're going to run dust at least 60 fps on this thing, beyond 60 fps there is literally no difference at all, whats wrong with you?! Research for once in your pathetic life.
Most if not all screens have a refresh rate of 60 frames anyway, you can run dust at 500 fps but you will still be seeing 60-75 because that's all our screens are capable of displaying.

even though im strictly a console user i think ccp shoulda done what planetside 2 developers are doing. Start dust 514 on pc and then expand to consoles, the 2 years they spent learning how to make a console game right could have done so with the pc then woulda been able to bring it straight to ps4 and polish it up for consoles while having the same game running on console and pc.
Edit: Making Double the profit they make now. |

There are 2 reasons Dust is where it is now: first, CCP made a huge mistake putting Dust on PS3, because it doesn't have nearly enough memory to bring Dust anywhere near where it's supposed to be. Blaming a single build is both baseless and stupid.
Second, CCP had to split Dust's team. A handful were left on PS3, and the rest were assigned to Legion. In this case, it was because Legion is a complete overhaul of Dust, but any port would split the dev team. PC games don't need to worry about porting.
While you claim my post is biased, every single thread about a PS4 port is extremely biased. Sony has nothing left for Dust, the PS3's player base has shown minimal interest in the game. A port to PS4 wouldn't help the population grow as much as it needs to.

I already have my trusty benQ 1ms monitor. I am not talking about myself. We are looking at the grand scale of the current player base not transitioning to PC because of how much it costs. PS4 is 400 dollars plus tax but already comes with everything (and) its on an even playing field. A 400 dollar PC which will run better than a PS4 sure but yall are also missing the part of all the accessories that you have to buy. Not only that but once you enter PC you are now in the wild west with people running monster rigs who will run dust FAR better than any newbro ps3 player transitioning to PC. I am just pointing out all the biased BS crap that you guys bring. Why not just say "Please CCP bring dust to PC screw the current player base is small anyways" Like the other guy pointed out.

I don't give a **** about FPS so long as it's above 15, but I'm seeing some inconsistency here.

A "huge mistake" hmm this is awfuly similar to what every PC player says on dust 514 review gaming articles but never do realize that dust was once a striving game with a decent player base of over 9k people. The two biggest mistakes that where made here are two. Uprising 1.0 and FF14.
You pointing out that the player base got diminished all due because of the PS4 just shows your lack of knowledge about what went on in this game and it's development. It is not entirely true mainly due to the fact that dust's player base got diminished even way before the ps4 got released when uprsing 1.0 came out on mid 2013. They were many different factors as to why our player base went from 9k to 5k in less than three months and these are some of them. They changed how dust looked, how the guns felt, how aiming and movement felt, how tanks and DS's operated, skills where changed for no reason. They basically said "here play this and dont ask why we changed almost everything that you guys loved from chromosome." Not only did they downgraded and changed everything but the game also became even more buggier. Planetary Conquest which was the end game for many vets just ended up frustrating them because of how bad it was and some of them left but many still stayed until CCP dropped a nuke on FF14 and that was the final nail on the coffin.
Notice how i said not "entirely true" which there is some validity to your claim. The release of the PS4 did hurt dust's player base. Yet Many still stayed because we wanted to hear the future of this game at FF14. And that is where CCP dropped the ball big time. It is not hard to tell that dust was not going to be successful on ps4 during the current poor state that it was. I am glad they did not released to ps4 because they would of had blew it the second time for sure. Right now dust seems to be on a better position with the implementation of skins and trading which allows cash flow through hands. But it is not quiet ready yet.
I am just surprised this game is still going after three heavy blows. The reason why i call your post bias is because you obviously and currently dont give two iotas of the current state of the game much less the player base. Im all up for PC and PS4 release just knowing that dust is alive and well is enough to put my mind at ease. But at least try to give two sh*ts about the situation and dont speak out blatantly claiming how "this" is how it happen while it was not.

Indeed, after all these setbacks, when you look at how the game is still standing, it shows that the community wants Dust to succeed, to be on the next gen console. Fan Fest and other incidents have lost us a lot of our playerbase as it stands, however, I am in no doubt that a lot will return (with new players coming too) when it does eventually go on the PS4. If CCP works on their advertising (and can actually deliver what it advertises), we could see a huge influx of players.
To those who are going to complain about pc instead of PS4, Legion is not Dust. CCP have said they would like to have Legion running and are keeping their options open. However, for us console gamers who have stuck with this game, we want to see Dust on the PS4.

I dounbt 2% of the ps3 crowd will move to PC including my self because face it dude, i dont wanna play pub matches the rest of my life like some of you. To be competitve ill probably need a 600 to 1000 dollar rig including the mouse and keyboard which are another 200 dollars. Your post is so biased. It just reeks of "please CCP please me and my PC buddies" Not really, for the same price as the ps4 you can build a pc that literally outperforms the ps4 in every way. You realize it's not just cost right? Every single time this discussion comes up people keep saying that cost is the only factor.
A console is a single non-changing hardware spec, and as new games come out they are all built to work with that spec, so unlike a PC the only upgrade you need to make is however many years in the future when they release a new console. I think I speak for many when I say that buying a GTX TITAN so I can have Tesselation to add more polygons to a scene that already looks pretty good without them isn't very high up on my priority list.
I know people will argue with the example above, but the fact remains that you can only maintain the same spec on your PC for so long before new titles come out that require better hardware. Yes, that is far less the case nowadays with companies developing for consoles and then making a quick platform port over to PC, but it is still a factor.
Also keep in mind that even though the word "casual" usually has such a negative connotation, the fact remains that some people prefer to have a more simplified experience when it comes to gaming. PC virtually always requires the use of third-party VoIP software, for example. If you join a Clan, it also tends to involve registering for their website, having to read their forums, donating to fund the VoIP server, and a lot of other mess some people don't like or just don't have time for.
When a consumer buys a console game, they buy the complete set of tools necessary to support that game while also knowing that their hardware will run it without any messing with drivers or graphics settings. That's part of why consoles caught on and are still a dominant force in the gaming industry. Some people want to buy a game and just PLAY it without any other hassle involved.
So let's ditch the "you're just being cheap" argument. It is in-arguable that were this game to be release on PC, it would entail all the additional hassle I mentioned above and more, considering EVE Online is it's closest cousin. You really think everyone that plays Dust right now is going to be fine with having to look up and submit their CREST API key to the Corporation they want to join such that they can be authenticated as not being a spy alt of an enemy, then having to use that key to register for their access-restricted forums which then generates a login for their access-restricted TeamSpeak/Ventrilo/Mumble server before they can even start playing the damn game with said Corporation?
Everyone needs to try and see the big picture here.

Aye hence the discussion. I decided not to change that part as it would show CCP that that is not the way that most people want to go. In addition, I later go on to discuss reasons for why I have put this.

This is a game about being in for the long haul, and forcing everyone to start over would remove most of the investment we've all made in the game.

True, from what I have read everyone would prefer to have the everything changed over. I also think that CCP really needs to work on matchmaking before it can be ported as not to deter npe, as this is the main concern I have (as I am sure others are concered as well) regarding the transfer of everything and the keeping of the newer playerbase.
We have seen a tremendous amount of support from our community in helping new players. I sincerely hope that this will continue

Given the dedication of new player support groups in EVE, I have no doubt.

There a few ways to look at the situation at hand.
Yes, the player base MIGHT increase if/when CCP takes this game to PC. On the other hand, they will lose a great number of loyal players if they do this. Basically, they are stuck between a rock and a hard place. A very large portion of the people who have stopped playing dust to begin with, have stopped because they moved to the next gen console. That being said, moving Dust to PS4 would also increase their player base because, lets face it; there are not many games for PS4 to begin with.
The problem with this is that there are some serious issues that need to be fixed before porting can even happen, as I am sure someone somewhere on this topic has stated.
Another thing to take into consideration is that there are only a few people that play Dust and are EVE players. In reality, (speaking as someone who actually plays EVE) the ones who do play both games waste so much time and money trying to run them in tandem. Point blank, 99% of EVE players don't give a rat's ass about Dust or the Dust community. So it would essentially be a no brainier to continue their beta testing of this grander scheme idea on a PS4 console. Then at least they have the ability to either decide to keep it there, or wipe it when they have perfected it as a PC game.
It's no secret that CCP has admitted to being more comfortable with PC game designing, but considering their limitations with software/hardware/and networking, they aren't doing too bad with this FREE TO PLAY game. Dust is a 100% unfinished product and I think people tend to forget that when they play. It's actually a decent game, yeah it's buggy as hell, but you aren't paying unless you CHOOSE to pay.
In spite of everything, I think CCP wouldn't be stupid enough to knock everyone back to noob status, especially those who have actually funded them and made it possible for them to make the changes they have made in the first place. What other game devs really let you be apart of their WHOLE dev process. They are taking the route every developer should by testing capacities and structures over a server. The game has so much potential and eventually they'll figure it all out.

because PC is better and doesn't have the restrictions that consoles have its also cheaper to build a pc then to have to buy a whole other console just to play Dust, also warframe and planet side 2 look better on PC so thats bs of an argument if you want to use it
CCP needs to keep their games on PC so everyone can have easy access to all their games
If the pc you use is cheaper than a ps4 i can guarantee ps2 and warframe dont look better on it.

That's with a 1st gen Core i7 and a GT 540M.
Should probably also mention it's 4 years old.

You're using a laptop to game. There's the reason why you have to run such low graphics. You're using integrated technology and you probably overheat a lot with no liquid cooling system. That is some bad JUJU my friend.

I was trying to use myself as an example of how going cheap on hardware just screws you over in terms of performance. The cost-benefit analysis is far simpler when you purchase a console.
I'm saying this as someone who plays games on both.

I only assumed the overheating would be an issue. I paid roughly $900 for my laptop with a core i7 processor and even running eve or wow, or any other game for that matter on low graphics, it gets super hot even with an external usb fan. The fan helps a little but i still experience some issues with overheat.

Obviously with a low-end desktop you still have more than enough airflow to prevent overheating, but the issue of having to do a lot of messing with settings to get playable framerates still remains.
Part of why many people decide they don't want to deal with that.

I agree, there will be some players who would wait for Legion to come out instead of grabbing a PS4. I myself will be playing both games as and when they happen. As an EVE player, I have hopes of integration with both Legion and Dust.
The PS3 is the base of their beta test. Porting will not be done until some of the fundamental issues have been dealt with. So long as these are sorted soon, before the PS4 is outdated, then there will be success to be had, of that I have no doubt.
