There a few ways to look at the situation at hand.
Yes, the player base MIGHT increase if/when CCP takes this game to PC. On the other hand, they will lose a great number of loyal players if they do this. Basically, they are stuck between a rock and a hard place. A very large portion of the people who have stopped playing dust to begin with, have stopped because they moved to the next gen console. That being said, moving Dust to PS4 would also increase their player base because, lets face it; there are not many games for PS4 to begin with.
The problem with this is that there are some serious issues that need to be fixed before porting can even happen, as I am sure someone somewhere on this topic has stated.
Another thing to take into consideration is that there are only a few people that play Dust and are EVE players. In reality, (speaking as someone who actually plays EVE) the ones who do play both games waste so much time and money trying to run them in tandem. Point blank, 99% of EVE players don't give a rat's ass about Dust or the Dust community. So it would essentially be a no brainier to continue their beta testing of this grander scheme idea on a PS4 console. Then at least they have the ability to either decide to keep it there, or wipe it when they have perfected it as a PC game.
It's no secret that CCP has admitted to being more comfortable with PC game designing, but considering their limitations with software/hardware/and networking, they aren't doing too bad with this FREE TO PLAY game. Dust is a 100% unfinished product and I think people tend to forget that when they play. It's actually a decent game, yeah it's buggy as hell, but you aren't paying unless you CHOOSE to pay.
In spite of everything, I think CCP wouldn't be stupid enough to knock everyone back to noob status, especially those who have actually funded them and made it possible for them to make the changes they have made in the first place. What other game devs really let you be apart of their WHOLE dev process. They are taking the route every developer should by testing capacities and structures over a server. The game has so much potential and eventually they'll figure it all out.

You're using integrated technology and you probably overheat a lot with no liquid cooling system. That is some bad JUJU my friend. Heat problems aren't an issue, and I'm well aware of how a desktop is better for gaming. I was trying to use myself as an example of how going cheap on hardware just screws you over in terms of performance. The cost-benefit analysis is far simpler when you purchase a console. I'm saying this as someone who plays games on both.
I only assumed the overheating would be an issue. I paid roughly $900 for my laptop with a core i7 processor and even running eve or wow, or any other game for that matter on low graphics, it gets super hot even with an external usb fan. The fan helps a little but i still experience some issues with overheat.
