You lost me at that last part.
The idea of losing everything we've worked for in Dust 514 was part of why people got so angry about Project Legion.

Then, look back at Dust's history. It came in at the end of the PS3's life. It was good for a little while, then we ended up here, because the PS4 came out.
A port to PS4 would be a bad call, because it would just repeat past mistakes. Dust has an established fanbase on the PS3, but it's small. It's safe to assume that a PC port would attract a lot more Eve players, attract other PC gamers, and pull some of the PS3 crowd over to PC, just like the PC crowd hopped on the PS3 for Dust.
Porting it to PS4 wouldn't help the player base grow at all; a lot of PS4 players have access to PS3s, yet they still don't play Dust. No we ended up here because of uprising So you just want eve players to enjoy dust and f*ck the actual people who support and has supported the game for the past two yet which is the current player base? A lot of ps3 players moved to ps4 because of what happened in fanfest 14 that is why they dont play dust anymore, but are still willing to try dust again if it ever gets ported to ps4 with better mechanics. I dounbt 2% of the ps3 crowd will move to PC including my self because face it dude, i dont wanna play pub matches the rest of my life like some of you. To be competitve ill probably need a 600 to 1000 dollar rig including the mouse and keyboard which are another 200 dollars. Your post is so biased. It just reeks of "please CCP please me and my PC buddies" Not really, for the same price as the ps4 you can build a pc that literally outperforms the ps4 in every way. You realize it's not just cost right? Every single time this discussion comes up people keep saying that cost is the only factor.
A console is a single non-changing hardware spec, and as new games come out they are all built to work with that spec, so unlike a PC the only upgrade you need to make is however many years in the future when they release a new console. I think I speak for many when I say that buying a GTX TITAN so I can have Tesselation to add more polygons to a scene that already looks pretty good without them isn't very high up on my priority list.
I know people will argue with the example above, but the fact remains that you can only maintain the same spec on your PC for so long before new titles come out that require better hardware. Yes, that is far less the case nowadays with companies developing for consoles and then making a quick platform port over to PC, but it is still a factor.
Also keep in mind that even though the word "casual" usually has such a negative connotation, the fact remains that some people prefer to have a more simplified experience when it comes to gaming. PC virtually always requires the use of third-party VoIP software, for example. If you join a Clan, it also tends to involve registering for their website, having to read their forums, donating to fund the VoIP server, and a lot of other mess some people don't like or just don't have time for.
When a consumer buys a console game, they buy the complete set of tools necessary to support that game while also knowing that their hardware will run it without any messing with drivers or graphics settings. That's part of why consoles caught on and are still a dominant force in the gaming industry. Some people want to buy a game and just PLAY it without any other hassle involved.
So let's ditch the "you're just being cheap" argument. It is in-arguable that were this game to be release on PC, it would entail all the additional hassle I mentioned above and more, considering EVE Online is it's closest cousin. You really think everyone that plays Dust right now is going to be fine with having to look up and submit their CREST API key to the Corporation they want to join such that they can be authenticated as not being a spy alt of an enemy, then having to use that key to register for their access-restricted forums which then generates a login for their access-restricted TeamSpeak/Ventrilo/Mumble server before they can even start playing the damn game with said Corporation?
Everyone needs to try and see the big picture here.

Aye hence the discussion. I decided not to change that part as it would show CCP that that is not the way that most people want to go. In addition, I later go on to discuss reasons for why I have put this. I can understand the idea of our progress being somewhat daunting in the eyes of brand new players on the new platform, but I think we can also agree that gear doesn't save people bad at using it from being bad.
This is a game about being in for the long haul, and forcing everyone to start over would remove most of the investment we've all made in the game.

Yokal Bob wrote: True, from what I have read everyone would prefer to have the everything changed over. I also think that CCP really needs to work on matchmaking before it can be ported as not to deter npe, as this is the main concern I have (as I am sure others are concered as well) regarding the transfer of everything and the keeping of the newer playerbase.
We have seen a tremendous amount of support from our community in helping new players. I sincerely hope that this will continue
Given the dedication of new player support groups in EVE, I have no doubt.

because PC is better and doesn't have the restrictions that consoles have its also cheaper to build a pc then to have to buy a whole other console just to play Dust, also warframe and planet side 2 look better on PC so thats bs of an argument if you want to use it
CCP needs to keep their games on PC so everyone can have easy access to all their games If the pc you use is cheaper than a ps4 i can guarantee ps2 and warframe dont look better on it. My laptop was $900 and I have to run Planetside 2 on Very Low to get good frames.
That's with a 1st gen Core i7 and a GT 540M.
Should probably also mention it's 4 years old.

Heat problems aren't an issue, and I'm well aware of how a desktop is better for gaming.
I was trying to use myself as an example of how going cheap on hardware just screws you over in terms of performance. The cost-benefit analysis is far simpler when you purchase a console.
I'm saying this as someone who plays games on both.

I'm saying this as someone who plays games on both. I only assumed the overheating would be an issue. I paid roughly $900 for my laptop with a core i7 processor and even running eve or wow, or any other game for that matter on low graphics, it gets super hot even with an external usb fan. The fan helps a little but i still experience some issues with overheat. Obviously with a low-end desktop you still have more than enough airflow to prevent overheating, but the issue of having to do a lot of messing with settings to get playable framerates still remains.
Part of why many people decide they don't want to deal with that.
