Is aim assist still helping me if I move my right stick? Or do I have put the crosshairs on the target and let go to allow the aim assist to kick in?
It just feels really unnatural letting go of the right stick, I'm struggling with my gun game in dust and could do with a bit of help how to aim properly with thumbsticks as most of my FPS experience is on PC. |

Just use a keyboard and mouse. Aim assist is a scrubs crutch and only good people have it off

Mouse feels even worse than the controller, plus my PS3 is set up next to my TV.

Well figure out if you want the aim assist to drag your aim to the guy or do it yourself and show an actual bit of skill unlike some of these scrambler aim asssit turbo controller scrubs

When you use your left stick and move, it will quickly move over to enemy for like a second. If you use right stick(like I use) it's less effective when actually magnetically aiming but if enemy does a quick turn, aa will move a bit in that direction as to indicate a bit for you.
Main assist is like 80% effective while using left stick and like 20% when using right.
If you have bad gun game, do what I did.
Play with aa on and try to follow target as much as possible. Adjust x/y stuff in menu as needed. Play like that till you get good. Then turn it off and you will see how little it starts to help you as you rely more on your own skill.
Them you shall be a MAGNET like me.
Now, you will want it on when you use PC or MD (mostly PC) when you use it in infantry like I do. And don't use myofibs. That's the crappiest way to use PC. Use galassault and your pure skill. https://twitter.com/48sof/status/608306331532066818

If you want to take advantage of aim assist you don't have to let go of the right stick. Just neutral position and use strafing to stay in the general area. Then hip fire for lols. AA in this game makes hip firing better than ads in most situations closer than 20 meters (which is odd) |

Aim assist just pulls your crosshair towards an enemy if you are aiming near them. Just mess around with it.
There's nothing wrong with it. Some people stick their noses up at it, but it's common in shooters, and doesn't offer anyone a distinct advantage.
It was brought in to give controllers a fair chance against MKB users.
