What I'd really like to see though is Amarr/Gallente heavy weapons before we see more Min/Cal variants.
Scrambler lance for Amarr (Anti-Infantry), and some sort of anti-vehicle plasma weapon for the Gallente. 2 AI, 2 AV. Balance.

thanks but not what i had in mind three years ago
three years ago i asked for the logi healing gun to work on enemies by slowing them down and DISrepairing enemy shields-armor
along with a heavy laser weapon with a full frontal shield module but only at 180 degrees leaving the other 180 degrees vulnerable
just a few lines of code to turn a regular laser into a heavy weapon laser just a few lines of code for a heavy laser shield module
but always no

sounds like the stasis webbifier idea i had many moons ago too. works similar to the EVE version where its a targetted beam that slows enemy vehicles down by a fixed %age depending on meta level. the rep tool model could be used and it'd encourage more 2nd gunners in order to shoot at infantry webbing you

Give us the Javelin from Iron Man as a heavy weapon. Shoots 1 round using R1, L1 to detonate (like an RE) and it rains down individual mortars in a circular pattern that explode on impact. Higher the detonation, bitter spread. Closer to ground, more concentrated. Must be initially set off 10 M or higher to allow activstion. 5-7-9 shells for std/adv/pri. 7 meter blast radius per shell, 300 DPS. 1 round magazine, 20 second reload time, 8 rounds carried.

US SOF uses the mk46/mk48 use the 48 as a reference and it's characteristics as opposed to a RL hmg, with the bolt pistols trigger characteristics. While the mk 46 uses NATO 5.56, the mk48 uses a 7.62, it would be a long range, heavy hitting weapon with accuracy, but limited by the bolt pistols trigger characteristics. Lore + risk/reward. Rail guns in the real world do not have recoil, they use smaller projectiles and kill by kinetic energy as opposed to high recoil, high ROF, high caliber "rifled" weapons. the problem with balancing the RR's in dust is the use of high caliber, high ROF and high damage at the expense of handling. Make it an accurate, long range kinetic kill weapon with a lower ROF-make this work and you'll be able to fix infanty/assault variants with the same lower ROF, accuracy, long range, and kinetic ability. A MK.48-type of weapon would be cool as hell and true SAW-like addition to DUST.

I feel like the Heavy weapons should be divided into Heavy Anti-Personnel and Heavy Anti-Vehicle.
We have two heavy weapons right now.
The Minmatar HMG, clearly an Anti-Personnel weapon that you could argue is effective against personnel.
The Caldari Forge Gun, clearly an Anti-Vehicle weapon that you could argue is effective against vehicles.
The Caldari Forge Gun however is NOT effective against personnel as a conventional weapon. You can kill people with it, no duh, but it's not effective at all at doing that.
The Caldari deserve a heavy weapon that is efficient for Anti-Personnel battles.

I feel like this weapon wold not be very popular. Having one chance to hit a scout before his combat rifle shreds through your suit just seems like a big no go. Since it is a laser weapon it will either end up seriously under powered against armor or shield users will scream for a nerf until the end of all time.
Amarr heavies (and really all of them in general) need a new cqc weapon. It is VERY boring knowing that if you plan on doing point defense you are just going to be sitting there with a HMG waiting on a scout to assault you.
If you want to just mesh something together just make a laser HMG. AScR + HMG would mean we atleast have an option in the heavy suit. |

have been suggesting a flamethrower for over 2 years. would be a great idea i think, if implemented well. extreme close range (in line with blaster tech) cone of death (in line with heavy weapons) increasing damage over time (in line with weapons that cook an enemy) with overheat (in line with weapons that generate massive power through usage) but no seize (providing opportunities to overheat weapon in order to finish off an opponent) and deals double damage to user once it overheats (in order to balance out lack of seize).
theres an idea of a gal heavy weapon for you. if you like it, spread the word :) i really wanna see this introduced someday even though i'm a shield based scout (and therefore would hate to have this used on me)

I am horridly, morbidly curious to see if that's where this idea came from. any good reason this couldnt be an AV-capable weapon? i'd like to see something like this used to knock dropships around a little/scare away tanks/blow up cars. a question ive got though is why make it light av when its not a light weapon? better heavy weapon options for AV would reduce the incidence of swarms being king of AV wouldnt it? IMO, swarms/mass driver/plasma cannon should be light AV unless used by commandos and heavy weapons should be able to take on a stronger role in AV. is there any serious problem with that logic?
a heavy pulse laser like this with an AV profile would make an ideal counter to a minmatar HAV (if they ever get added)

i battered out an idea about 18months ago of either using the existing forge model in a silver/green colour of gallente and having the Gallente Plasma Forge Gun or using the PLC model but making it a heavy slot and working in the same way as a forge. essentially the Breach FG is the gallente variant. we just need a heavy shield based AV and then we'd finally be able to have proper balance in vehicles as well as AV
