My take is that this is the next step to limit the influence of a single squad in a pub match (current squad size is 6). While on the other hand we are more then likely to get MAG's platoon/team deploy for FW. It will basically come down to this:
Fireteam= 4 man squads for pubs squads= 8 man squads for FW/PC platoon= 16 man team deploy for FW/PC
This is a major step forward on encouraging teamwork in FW while lowerering the power of powerfull squads in public matches. It will aswell help with forming a team for PC matches cause the current setup is rather annoying. If this gets trough you better prepare yourself to encounter constantly professional teams in FW matches cause the only reason why you dont see 24/7 q-syncs is that people get annoyed when a q-sync fails.
If Ratatti manages to do this then he will be the hero for FW.

Interesting to see that plans for fireteams, squads, and platoons were moved up from the Backlog UX to the next update for Warlords. Considering that Planetary Conquest 2.0 is already in the works and likely to have high priority, I am theorizing that CCP Rattati is taking the opportunity to bundle it all together in the same update.

Oh yeah those long waiting times should be halved by making sure groups of 6 players are cut from the que! Stopping groups of players from playing dust together will surely keep them logging on right? Who the hell plays this game with friends anyway?

I can actually get a full 16 v 16 most of the time in FW, unlike pubs where right off the bat 8 people leave and I'm in an 8 v 16. Just remove the matchmaking already or just let matches autofill with whoever Scotty can get. What id really like is for you to bring the dimension domination style deployment back where you can choose your match.

Kinda like how the domination matches were that other week in the "Other Contracts" section. It would be cool to see the battles pop up on a list like that.

This is actually closer to what a fire team is in real life guy. Actually CCP gave you an extra guy so you girls can keep the rep tool going lol!
My fire team, in real life, has always been 3 guys. A squad is 6 with 2 fire teams in special operations. Line units are 12 man squad with 4 fire teams or 2 teams of 6 depending on op tempo.
CCP not only got it right, but they made it unique. Kudos o7

No! SHHHH! Rattati shouldn't tell us that, and it's good that people won't listen and know. Matchmaking is supposed to help Post-Newberrys feel more confident about their performance, Casual players feel more comfortable having fun without having to donate tons of time practicing/grinding, and whatnot. The matchmaking engine should be subtle about what it's doing, and once you leave Public Matches behind, should disappera entirely as part of the concept of 'progression' in this game.
But, SHHHHGǪ don't tell us about that. LESS-educated players in Dust, make better hordes to round up and shoot. It equals FUN!
