An idea that might have already been suggested before, but just in case..
How about a new high slot module to add to the mix and give people more options other than HP mods? I'm proposing a new high slot module that increases Bandwidth by a set amount.
Basic: +2 Bandwidth ~20 CPU, 2 PG Advanced: +4 Bandwidth ~30 CPU, 3 PG Prototype: +5 Bandwidth ~50 CPU, 5PG
Numbers are up for debate. Please discuss and thank you for reading !

Would definitely be an interesting module for the enterprising uplink Scout.

Interesting. Always nice to see new module suggestions.
How would this be used? The only thing I can think of would be to drop a bunch of equipment as a logi, then switch to assault and keep all your equipment deployed.
Would that be worth using a slot on?

Fully support this.
There are many valid applications for this. An interesting one would be to put a bandwidth module on a sentinel. That means, if you sacrifice the slots for it, you can actually maintain a nanohive for later forgegunning. Competitive people will still want to use a dedicated logi for that purpose (bandwidth module or damage mod? Not so tough a decision) but solo-ists may find AV-duty easier this way. |

You guys nailed it.
With tiercide on the horizon, I'm thinking of the players willing to sacrifice slots to get that second uplink down, or the dedicated sentinel that is willing to give up a slot to keep a lone piece of equipment out there.
Thanks for the positive feedback, keep thinking of new ways it could be used and what you feel about the numbers.

I'm not against improving the numbers, Forever ETC, it's just that you are bound to expect ADV to be at least 50% better than BASIC at less efficient fitting cost, and then PROTO to be only 25% better than ADV with similar or worse efficiency.
If you wanna go with 6 bandwidth added for proto, the others will have to change too, don't you think? Consider how weapons work, shield extenders, armor plates, uplinks.. etc

As an AV Sentinel, I very much like having access to a Nanohive for vehicle deterrent/demolition duty. If that can be my own, even better.
Overall, this is better than just giving Sentinel's an equipment slot.

While I would like to see some high value high slot mods this doesn't really do it for me I think subverting a system that was added for balance is a step in the wrong direction.
ck scout is or at least was the highest pop scout i believe and would put them right back into the jack of all trades position. Who else could even benefit from this other than scouts? I mean logi and scout are the only suits apart from officers that have more than one slot anyway.

Dislike. Sentinels should never have bandwidth. Suits already have more than enough bandwidth to support their own deployables. Defeats purpose of adding bandwidth to begin with.

But I can see tower sniping exploits enabled by this.
I highly recommendmaking this module incompatible with fatties.

Break'n, do you feel that way even if it takes up a high slot?
Even at proto, 5 Bandwidth isn't even enough to fuel a compact nanohive. At the very most I would see it as used to round off certain bandwidth numbers to be more customizable. For example, if you have 12 bandwidth and want to set down 2 uplinks(4) and a compact nanohive(6), you need 14 Bandwidth. A basic module would take a high slot from your loadout for 2 more BW. It's half of the bandwidth for a single piece of equipment. At proto, 5 bandiwidth is barely enough to hold a single uplink, and is NOT enough for any of the armor repairing nanohives.
As far as heavy frame abuse, a player would have to go through great pains to set it up, hoping the equipment doesn't get destroyed while they switch fits, and actually survives long enough to be useful.
Thoughts?

The process would require starting in another suit with links, getting dropship, flying up to tower and setting it down. Then leaving to supply depot (or die). Then fly back up there or spawn up there in heavy fit that is gimped with 1 less high slot.
The heavy could fly directly to the tower in his dropship the first time around and be done with it, no?
Not to mention, if that uplink gets destroyed, he has to repeat the whole process.
I'm thinking more along the lines of someone who has many links out for their team, and needs to switch to a forge to fire on a tank, but all his links will pop. With a bandwidth mod, a single link could potentially survive.
Maybe I'm naive in thinking this isn't very abusable? Seems like a lot of work for little actual gain when going down the abusable paths.

no cause you want it to be a highslot module. Armor suits have allready enough advantages no need for this to punish shield suit usage even more.

The very point of this was to create more high slot diversity. In other words, bringing down KingHP. There are a lot more useful low slots than high slots right now. KinCats, codebreakers, damps, 3 different types of armor plates, shield regulators, etc..
High slots have extenders, myofibs and damage mods.
I'm fine if you don't like the idea, really, that's what discussion is for. However "this hurts shield suits!" is probably the worst reason you could possibly give.

I do however think that if done correctly it could be pulled off.
Perhaps making the fitting costs per tier increase drastically, while giving Logis a role bonus, and giving Heavies a penalty.
This would go along well with the x% additional speed penalty for Logis, and the x+1% additional speed penalty for Scouts I would like to see for armor plates, assuming that the MobilityCurve is implemented and Logis' speeds are somewhere between Scouts and Assaults on the Curve.
I think penalties in general can be a way to curb abuse without completely eliminating the option for other suits.

I'm thinking this could be highly abusable by sentinels because a dropship requires work done over time, and at risk of losing a vehicle to an enemy forge/swarms.
allowing a forge sniper to maintain said uplink negates one of the very reasons sentinel bandwidth was set to zero:
To force tower sniping shenanigans to involve team activity rather than solo hero stuff.
Or at least risking some assets.
Because while Vehicles are currently seen as very powerful because of the madrugar, they won't always be that relatively powerful.
Easy tower sniping means that you can hit a tank from an angle that they cannot retaliate against on many maps.
Also on several maps rather than firing UPWARD at a dropship, which gives the ship an advantage which compensates for lower HP, some maps allow tower sniping that usually puts most dropship activities on an even plane with the gunner, or below the gunner, both of which are much easier shots to manage, especially with commandos or assaults nearby rocking swarms.
I'm usually putting together a lot of factors in my brain and I will admit I have a nasty habit of skipping steps explaining things. I firmly believe that Sentinels should not have bandwidth enabled under any circumstance.
Especially if we get any sort of racial parity involving longer range anti-infantry weapons and long-range heavy weapons for AV. I consider it future-proofing against marginalizing other roles.
As it stands the gold standard before was to set up links/hives and then spawn heavy. Allowing one of either negates partially the intent of keeping heavies from using equipment suits as disposable heroes and reaping the benefits of having equipment they cannot otherwise carry without team support.
WoW has taught me that Purple means Legendary. This means Quafe suits are the optimal loadout for killing all of you.
