That video was utterly pointless and asking for trouble. I would not be surprised if CCP now denied him to run because this is not the first time he made these kind of dumb videos where he is asking for trouble in titles and click baits and talking crap.
I'd rather see CPM2 that has people that sound reliable and know what they are talking about than being HAHA LOL CCP HEHE LETS MAKE FUNNY VIDEO LOL VOTE FOR ME THANKS kind of guy. But maybe that's just me...
Think what you do for the community before you do it and ask yourself what's going to do for you if you run for such important (under NDA) role.

It raises awareness the same way that we teach children that historically it was thought that the world was flat. It is unobjectionable to factually discuss that a rumor existed. It is when the rumor is encouraged that it becomes a problem. It's scary to see entire lines of conversations shut down due to the mention of something. BAMM even stated that it was only a rumor and as such, he would not let it sway his behavior. |

No, if we have rules, then we must all abide. Agreed, there. But I'm pointing out that his attitude surrounding the rumor was not indicative of a belligerent attitude toward CCP. So, I'm saying that he wasn't grinding the rumor mill. He was merely observing that it existed. I thought that shutting down his thread was a bit premature on Frame's part. BAMM wants to establish trust in the community and with CCP. I doubt that he thought CCP would be so hasty as to hear the mention of a rumor and run for the axe. |

Just wanted to add a little bit to the "OMG Rumorz" side of this.
(Yes, the information here may be construed such that I'm also violating forum-rules, though I think I'm staying within the boundaries set out by CCP)
BAMM did come to me with these rumors, including naming who and what and how etc - there was a LOT of debating whether to move forward with it, incl how, and I think BAMM did the right thing by simply stating that the rumors and information he was told exists, and that he decided to not name names.
Tracking the rumors backwards, we could not identify enough (named) sources to confirm that it was more than a rumor, though we do have reason to believe its validity. There are some aspects that could not be supported well enough (complete sale, divestiture, transfer of incorporation etc), and some uncertainty to exactly where (Canada kept coming up, so did Europe).
We reached out to CCP already last week, contacting Adam Kahn as well as a separate contact we have within CCP's PR department, informing them of this, largely what we had heard (select details left out to avoid exposing anyone), and offering them to react, even if only to say "no comment", or to ask us to keep away from it. Basically, we were trying to give CCP a chance to be proactive (deny the rumor etc) instead of reactive (simply banning BAMM when he brings it up).
I am in no way saying that CCP handled this wrongly, only reporting here that we did "play ball", and that BAMM did not cross a line he is so very often accused of crossing: going off on a tangent, spouting rumors mixed with random thoughts.

From a journalism standpoint, yes, you did the right thing. You gave CCP the chance to reply before posting a video on BAMM's Youtube channel and website. However, vetting a rumor doesn't give you permission to post it on this forum. The rule doesn't say "No rumor mongering unless you talk to CCP about it first" it says "No rumor mongering".

Go read the definition of slander, i'm in no way saying that's what Bamm did but you might be able to understand CCP's position on the subject a little better. And it's only because he posted that ON the Dust forums

BAMM just comes off as a Judge Rhadmanthis 2000(c) where the Eve Legion marketing team has taken Judge; cloned all the worst aspects of him and tried to re-brand him for the hip yolo youngsters that don't want to understand simple things like representation, ndas, and how simply being nice to the devs even when denouncing or disputing the developers ideas goes much further than just out right lying to them all the time.

If what BAMM did was slanderous (hint: it wasn't), then the fact that he did so via a YouTube video and a (text-based) forum would, as I understand these principles, make it libel, not slander.
I'm glad you're smart enough to put one of slanders synonyms in place of and act smart. It actually could be looked at as both I guess since he spoke it and wrote it but whatever. I was attempting to help Clone D maybe see why CCP locked the thread and nothing more. Many times I post i'm in the middle of tasks that need attended to in my life, so i'm very sorry if you really lack that much of a life to play samantics but I got sh!t to do.
