Take the basic heavy frames stats and set them the commando bonus and modules, thats it.

The speed of the commandos isn't up to par for the health they have.
Up the hp value or speed. Not both at the same time however

They would still have less HP, no splash damage bonus, etc. In a 1 v 1 with a Commando and Sentinel, at HMG range the Sentinel should beat the commando every time with all other things being equal (weapons, gun game, etc.) A commando isn't going to have 1400 + HP stacked on.
The major thing this does is give the commando absolute versatility to make up for its deficiencies in ther areas (speed, shield regen, etc).

Seriously, stop it with the "Commando only good for carrying AV" bullshit... Only scrubs carry AV on a commando.
What's that, Minmando can switch from combat rifle to mass driver... It's surprisingly more effective than your puny flaylock.
Galmando can defend itself while sniping with a nice rifle, or get in on the action with a shotgun for those pesky scouts.
Calmando don't care if you didn't drop to the first rifle round, they got a spare assault rail rifle for when you get close.
There are a lot of useful light weapon combos that can help you screw over the other team, when they think they've got the upper hand... Use your imagination.
Commando could use an extra slot, maybe 2... Then it can keep up with the other suits and do what it does best, which just happens to be everything. |

Play the reps and hit from a distance. Use the fact that you have two light weapons to run a continuous stream of bullets.
I noticed I do better when I put two assault weapons on them. Onc for close & mid range, the other for mid & long range.
True they are squishy, but their sustained damage output is pretty nice. |

The Commandos was built in a time where SP was very rare(190k SP per week). the commando is a good allrounder for new players. but since the SP reward was build up its unlikely useless. for a AV they stand the hole time on a roof with a forge gunner besides him its nice to refresh the ammo. the commands are not bad, but the most people use them wrong or expect to much from that suit. I have 14 proto suits but last month's I play mostly only commandos. If do you use them right they are very dangerous. Any buff will be apriciate. It's not the suit for newbe you have to max a lot of skills to be really competive with assaults or heavy. Only high alfa damage can safe your ass :)

I think he's comparing that to the base rifle without any skill whereas the commandos has his max bonus, proficiency 5 and damage mods. That's a wrong way to see the damage bonus as first the proficiency isn't useful all the time, and moreover any other suit can have proficiency maxed out too. |

I was thinking that was his thought process. Suit proficiency + weapon proficiency + complex damage mods. The suit proficiency is the only thing that can't be replicated with any other suit.

They should up the damage bonus to 3 or even 5 for the fear factor. If thats not possible. then raise the scan on them. its suppose to suppress enemy. Cant suppress them if you cant see them coming. you get shot at the back coz your blind as a bat.
They should also have unique anti av weapons for each race. gallente - plasma cannon minmatar - anti-av md caldari - swarm launcher amarr - lazer cannon
Commando should be able to deal with infantry and vehicle alike.

The suit proficiency is the only thing that can't be replicated with any other suit. yes, thats correct. play the amarr commando for example, even the standard could have 32% extra dmg for laser or scr. i think thats a lot. and you have even 600hp armor 250 shield. show me a standard suit without fitting that could handle this(besides heavys)...
