I rock a Mk.0 Assault because its really the only Assault suit that can effectively run three complex dampeners on, and still maintain enough tank to 1v1 most suits.
I like to add that whole active scan to dampening relationship needs to be looked at. |

I would say that:
faster than amarr scout DOUBLE the stamina regen of the rest of the assaults balanced slot layout faster hacks (they still get +5% for no reason right?) 2nd highest stamina pool great bonus
in exchange for 30 hp
is basically your reasons.
basically you can fit it however you want, barely ever run out of stamina, and have an insane clip size is the general reasons.
If it had one more equipment slot it would fully displace the amarr scout (lol combat scout)...

I don't understand this whole broken hitbox thing. My min assault takes damage from EVERYTHING and EVERYWHERE all the time. Not to mention my dual tanked fits still have less EHP and less regen of other assaults. It may be the most versatile assault, but the other assaults are quite versatile as well. I've seen Gall Assaults faster than me. I've seen dual tanked Cal Assaults with more EHP and better regen. And well, the Amar Assault just kills min my assaults with what seems like very little ease. And then we got the damage mods... Sacrificing what little shields/regen we already got in order to compete in this high damage meta we're in simply sucks. And don't get me started on CPU/PG....
If ya can dodge wrench, than maybe min assault is for you...
I don't like two-legged things.

Yooo, I don't understand this MINass is OP **** either, I get wrecked by everything it seems like. SCRs, ASCRs, Assault Rifles, Bolt Pistols, RR's. Never have any problems with other Minassaults, mostly Amarr and Gallente that tear me up. Caldari is a hit or miss.

I'm not a MinAssault user, so I can't relate any experiences of my own regarding the way it handles. I can, however, relate my experiences as aspectator and from what I've seen, there is nothing special about them. They're just like any other suit. The only notable difference is that they're quite popular and a good majority of players use them.
My problem with the hit-detection for the MinAssault is when they are running away from me. I can get into a 1v1 battle with a MinAssault in which I am completely outdoing them with the gun-game just to have them turn around, run some weird zigzag pattern away to safety, and somehow not have a single bullet I fire into their back affect them. |

It's a combination of multiple things. Extreme versatility, speed, stamina, arguably best bonus, small but noticeable free hacking bonus.
Minmatar Assaults have many things that make them good, you can't look at one aspect and say that's the reason.

... Maybe because they're running in a zig zag pattern is to why you can't hit them? Most people don't aim to where I'm going, just where I'm at, so when they fire I'm zipping to the left, they fire again, I'm zagging to the right. I do this when I'm out matched and scrape away some HP to get some structures between us before I re-engage or pick someone else to fight. I get knicked by bullets still while running away mind you. I've died some times too.

I've died some times too. I find myself screaming EVASIVE MANEUVERS EVASIVE MANEUVERS all the time. Min Assault is a hit and run suit, so it can't brawl with the best of em. And it can't fight at longer ranges(although mass driver vs laser rifle 1v1s are quite epic). Basically, ya gotta get in, hit hard, and run away once your duct tape starts to peel off, which seems to be a popular tactic these days. Kinda like a run and gun kinda gameplay rather than the stand and deliver gameplay.

No suit should have 800eHP with good reps, good speed, good versatility and near invincibility. I run a speed fit with 650eHP and with that I destroy most players. The problem is, besides the ak.0s ScR bonus, theres no real benefit to using any other suits.
Want good shields? Use a Caldari or Minmatar Assault. Want good armor? Use an Amarr or Minmatar Assault. Want good armor reps? Use a Gallente or Minmatar Assault. Want good speed? Use the Minmatar Assault.
3 things its good at plus one thing its great at makes it overperform. Hence why everyone uses it. It is literally a high eHP Scout.

Minmatar Assault has "good shields, good armor, and good armor reps?" I'd say mediocre, not to mention ya cant have all these things at the same time. And even if you focus on one of these things, the other assaults simply do it better, sans the speed. And if ya wanna have the E-war of a scout, well, non of these things are possible.

I think you're over-exaggerating on the 800HP part. To use the shotgun on a armor stacked assault is dumb, you need speed, you'd have to sacrifice two or maybe three slots for kinkats, two will put you at 9.73 meters a second, that's pretty good considering. Three would put you at 10.43. You can't stack four complx shield extenders though, the most amount of shield HP you could get is around the 400 range. One flux grenade, a few well placed scrambler rifle shots and you're toast. 800HP? Sucka I've seen assaults from the GAL to the Amarr reach well beyond that on just armor alone.

400ish shields with 400ish armor no speed penalties, it has a fast stamina regain along side with also being faster than a scout. Its basically a scout with a bunch of HP.
That is not faster than a minmatar scout. Just like the amarr scout is faster than its assault variant. etc. |

That shotgun fit can be mostly mimicked by the all races. \
Currently, ako: 2-3 speed mods (3 speed mods and 2 PRO plates gives 8.98 sprint speed) 1-3 complex armor mods 1 compact nanohive or 1 adv rep hive (20-50 armor regen between fights) 1-3 shield extenders (3 x 72 = 218 hp) PRO shotgun 180 + 218 max shields and (394 + 2 plates = 691 armor) You might have 1 PG mod which helps you fit all those PG heavy mods.
gko: 2-3 speed mods 1-2 complex armor plates 1-3 shield extenders PRO shotgun REP hive
Do the math or make fittings and you will find that they mimic each other pretty well. There will be differences that give each suit a different flavor of the same fitting style. Making each one better at longer or shorter ranges but with more or less hp and other strengths.

Min assault is slightly OP, not because of fitting versatility (which makes it nice to have for pubs) or it being good to combine with ACRs or any bullshit complaints about its hitbox being broken, its slightly OP because its stamina regen is a whopping 2.5x that of gallente and caldari equivalents, and like 60% higher than Amarr (might be slightly off on that one).
This gives it a massive mobility advantage even if it doesnt equip a single kincat. In my opinion the stamina gain on all Min suits needs to be nerfed to around what the Amarr equivalents have.
Of course, Amarr assault + scrambler is even more OP, so its first in line on my **** list. |

They are definitely all balanced. The only thing that is not balanced is Shields vs armor. If Shields were buffed people would realise how beast Caldari assaults are. You can get over 600 Shields that recharges in just over 10 seconds. Don't even get me started on how good the reload bonus is in the hands of the capable. Gal assaults combine good armor and speed with amazing reps, it's not my fault 90% of players fit them like idiots (stacking armor plates smh). Amarr assault has an amazing bonus to an incredibly leathal weapon (even in the current armor meta the scr melts face) and can get huge amounts of hp for a medium.
It's not just me though, look at the top slayers in the game and you'll see a mix of every race at assault. ****, kaz sniper uses Caldari and that's considered to be the weakest assault. Minmatar may indeed be more popular because of their sweet looks and versatility, this does not mean the suit is OP. |

They are close, but lets not pretend its perfect. The Gallente suit is completely overshadowed by the Amarr suit due to the Amarr suits superior health and weapon bonus, and the Caldari assault suffers pretty badly from the armor meta and from scrambler dominance.
Amarr and Min are clearly better suits, for all sorts of reasons, from stamina regen, to weapon bonuses, to having fittings that are dominant in meaningful ways over the Cal/Gal suits (superior HP or speed or damage output, as opposed to marginal regen superiority). |

Except with the min assault you dont need a cardiac, and you have more space to fit regulators, more kincats, or a dampener (if you are speed tanking for a shotgun, for example)
Sure the Cal might confuse people, but only because its straight up dumb to fit them like that unless you dont have access to min assault. |
