The scanners doesnt really provide any noticable WP reward, but giving the user the satifisfaction that he provides his team with very usefull intelligence, unless ofcourse your in a fully fledged proto pub star squad, then its like +15 +15 +15.... You might even end up with a decent wp score just by scanning, but the true reward some say is the tears of the enemy.
Have you got anymore exploding carrots?

You see good sir, the draw back is that the person scanning, only makes +15 intel assist and only when a squad mate gets the kill. Making them hardly profitable and hence not many people use them.
I do though, just because little assholes with shotguns and RE's run around thinking they are awesome. Your probably one of those and just bitchy because a scanner poops on your parade.
If your so concerned with it, get a gal scout and stack damps. Or do like the real scouts and try to hunt the guy doing it down.
JUST because your whining about it, I'm gonna run proto scans on my Gal logi all week, just for you <3

Wow a scout complaining about scanners what a surprise . If u lvl up dampening to proto (hust the skill) all but heavy suits can avoid basic scanners. At adv scanners all scouts ewar dampening can still avoid. At proto all but one scanner rate at 28 db which guess what a gall scouts (without dampener) and cal scout with one damp can avoid. Only exception to this is gal logi which guess what if u use damps u can still avoid but almost all scouts wanna tank hp n speed n have their ewar carry them which shouldnt ne the case you shouldnt be untrackable to beging with cloak was meant to help not a crutch |

Overall the underlining problem is this. You running a scanner is an extraordinary plus for your team. Unfortunately, me running damps has zero benefit to my team, yet I am sacrificing 2-3 lows, and you an equipment slot.
It does not balance out, and therefore equates to crappy gameplay

2. If you plan on being a scout or assault, you should probably skill it anyways. I consider dampening a "core" skill.
3. extraordinary gains for the squad. Team even? (Lol bluedots!) Very little gain for the scanner.
'Sault AK.0 - Logi AK.0 - Logi GK.0 - Scout GK.0 - 'Mando MK.0 - Masshole in every sense of the word.

What OP proposes is stupid, but he's right about one thing: active scanners suck. I would love to see them erased from the game as they bring nothing good to the game. It's basically a wallhack eq that forces you to play with one particular type of suit if you want to have a chance of avoiding it. It sucks. It's wrong to have this in a FPS.
Fix the game before trying to add anything else.
(Hint: hit detection, lags, glitches,.. you've got some work :) )

Scans are pretty lame when they are permanently applied to your butt.
My suggestions would be: reduce range on active scans and make it so supply depot doesnt recharge scanners to reduce the supply depot ballet (srsly Ive been like 200+ meters from the action, still getting hit by random scans)
Limit of one scanner per fitting
Reduce all scan precisions of all active scanners and then make the scanner precision stack with scan modules (~3 complex precision modules should get you back to current levels), this means that you will need to apply some module slots to make scanners work, just like everyone else has to apply module slots to try and make them not work.
A scan disruptor would be nice too, now that you mention it. |

Not only that, but one guy with a single equipment slot is forcing an entire team to either run squishy ass scout suits with all their lows filled with damps, or accept being perma scanned. Its very asymmetrical, essentially the only way to play against it is to also spam scanners and force the same choice on the enemy team. |
