Today's matchmaking hasn't been the best, to put it mildly. Long wait times and uneven matches made today the second worst day I've had, after Day 3.

I got into a very interesting match though. On my team was my squad, consisting of Parkour Practioner, Kaze Eyrou, and miscellaneous (

), whilst the enemy team was made up of Thor Odinson42, Haerr, Summer Sault, and some other frightening dudes. Well, I wasn't about to keel over and get kicked in the teeth! I came out, knives a-swingin', links a-droppin', points a-hackin', and did my best to strive for victory. Unfortunately though, the opposition was far too powerful for our wee berries, and we lost a lot of clones.

One particular part of the match sticks with me now. I spied, with my singular eye, a Proto Gallente Assault. Licking my knives, I crept close. Now, I don't use the Raptor-Jump against Assaults often because of their erratic movement style. Instead, I creep up within molestation distance, charge my knives, and swing whilst they're still in range. This is what I did against the Gallente Assault. I still recall the resistance I had felt when I carved into his dense rump. Twisted

When the match ended (in a loss) and the EOM screen was displayed, I was pleasantly surprised. I had come 1st Place, going 11/1. Once again this may not seem very impressive, but context is important here. I was the only one on the team to go K/D positive. The next best K/D on the team was 5/6. Big smile

Most of my squad was fairly annoyed, but I still sent GGs. One of the replies made me jubilant. It was from Thor.

I must say this, be careful little Minja, The great terror known as mr musturd is back. You might die to his knives soon. I suggest checkin' dat player list before you deploy everytime. I squadded with musturd last month actually, he said he and moody are 'retired' now. Not sure whether I should rejoice or cry. Hopefully that means he is just a casual, because I spotted him, and am currently extremely paranoid. Gonna boot up the old ten four in an hour or two, and hope to be safe. If you expect the worst, you'll never be disappointed.

Knives > Shotgun The other match I played was difficult, not specifically of the opposition, but because of the lag. Oh, the horror! The horror! I cloaked 3 seconds after the animation played. It felt like I was running through quicksand. But I bravely persevered, and in the end, I went 16/3. I was distraught when I learnt I had missed yet another PC whilst I was AFK, and was compelled to create this thread, in the hope that I'll see some action, eventually... It's been a really bad day; even worse than both Day 3 and Day 6. I'm going to be completely honest. The most important thing for me in Dust is making a good impression on others; to impress others. Some may call it silly, but I care about what others think of me. Guaranteed, after every match, I'm thinking, 'What do my squadmates think of me now?'. Whilst this is one of the things that compels me to be constantly improving, it is also a source of great anger and frustration. It seems that whenever I see someone I really want to impress, I perform at my worst. Today, I really wanted to impress One Eyed King, Ian The Conquer, Solar Qoio, and 1st Lieutenant Tiberius. Naturally, things didn't go the way I wanted them to. I got into a Skirm with OEK on the enemy team. Of course, I didn't realise this until he killed me. When I routinely checked my six, I saw him sprinting towards me in a Quafe Scout M-1, brandishing Knives: he wanted to duel. Well, I was up for the challenge, but I was fairly distracted by the numerous reds around me, and the odd Blaster Tank, and I believe it was this that cost me the duel. Fair enough, I had lost a duel, but that wasn't the worst part. When the match ended (in a loss), I saw I had gone 10/8 - the worst score I had gotten since I had started this blog. Only an OB had saved me from going K/D negative. 'Why' I thought, 'can I not perform well when it matters most to me? Later, when I was squadded with OEK, Ian The Conquer, and Otrera Goddess, I ended up going 2/3, 10th place. Solar Qoio. This guy has never seen me do well. Every. Single. Time I've played with or against him, I've done deplorably badly. It just seems like I'm cursed to only do well when nobody I care about can see me. 'What kind of impression am I leaving on them when this happens?' I thought. I suppose it wasn't all bad though. I got into a tough Skirm with Tibs, and I ended up going 9/2. Again, not initially impressive, but this was the best K/D on the team. I came 2nd place. On the plus side, I received another message after I sent a GG: R93 wrote: Yup GG. In a plot twist though, I learnt that I was not kiced from RND under Dubb's instruction for my comments in their recruitment thread, as I had previously thought, but rather by one of the Directors who made an independent decision. How's my knifing developing? I don't know... Sometimes it feels like I'm not improving, or that I'm even getting worse... Am I not as good as I had previously thought? I'm really sorry for the negative entry today, but it's just been one of those days... I hope tomorrow is better. With the weekend approaching, I should have more time for Dusting. I would say, overall, you have been very dominant when I have come across you in game. Perhaps you weren't even aware it was going on at the time? Either way, now that games are more competitive, sometimes you will lose out to someone not as skilled, because you were distracted by those that were. It happens, and it isn't a reflection of your capabilities. Maybe you hold yourself to an unreasonably high standard? I do believe I hold myself to unreasonably high standards; you're right. I look at other players and think 'Why am I not that good?'. Whilst this is good for improvement, it's definitely not good for my overall enjoyment of the game, or my blood-pressure for that matter. I doubt you're getting worse though, things are becoming harder, however. With Minmatar scout scanning ability down so low and people constantly acquiring better gear, it's getting harder and harder to perform well with the more entertaining types of roles. Not to mention the fact that with the matchmaking, the better you do, the harder your battles are going to become... And I just realized I'm starting to look forward to these entries like I was looking forward to Beast's trolling noobs videos. My Plasma Cannon says "Hello" to your face~
