Today a gameplay trailer was released for star wars battlefront, the long awaited sequel to the old battlefront series.
It Looks AMAZING. just simply AMAZING. This game runs a massive scaled combat zone with ground troops, vehicles and aircraft much like the other battlefield titles made by Dice but they have stayed true to the original games implementing 3rd person controls, tactical sci fi equipment and jedi classes unlocked by a player on a team after proving themselves a master of battle (earning a load of points for kills in the currently played game).
Now this got me really hyped for this game but also got me thinking. If dice is capable of taking on such a large scale project for a sci fi franchise outside their normal work couldn't they do it again for say... o I dunno. maybe CCP and Dust?
I'm not trying to be insulting to the devs currently working on dust but over the last 2 years I think I can safely state that CCP has proven themselves "less capable then most" when it comes to developing a first person sci fi shooter based in the EvE universe.
Could they not hire Dice to create whatever sequel they have in mind to replace dust at the end of its life cycle?
This game on the dice engine could be amazing and it could be released for console and PC solving the running debate thats occurred since last years fanfest.
Please watch the full trailer before commenting and remember this is all in engine rendering at 60 frames per second. The visual Gameplay in this game reminds me of the dust 514 non-gameplay trailer from 2013

No. CCP has held the reigns this long, got it this far, and have made and fixed many mistakes. They are still learning, and working with something that didn't start off great, and no denying it has not come far. It might not be the best game , but it's it's(wtf) own game , and ccp is it's own company. They have grown big, and tbh I applaud them for leaping into this as they did and still holding on, and eventually turning profits. This game might not go far, it may die here on the ps3... however ccp will go on, and they will carry with them the experiences and lessons of Dust , and hopefully come out with a new masterpiece that can't be matched down the road.
It sucks dust didn't live up to it's expectations , but it still did it's own thing , and I like it. Especially with the connection to Eve online |

emm except the gameplay? the entire trailer is rendered in the engine. what your looking at is what the game will actually look like.

you sound like everyone else on the forums me included. hoping that ccp will eventually get it right. they have proven themselves incapable of getting this game together, they cancelled World of Darkness which is the only other game where they stepped out of their comfort zone. they have a record of development cycles where the fully developed game is seen 3-4 years after its been released. I'm not really looking forward to what they can create next. just my opinion tho

It's not that they are "incompetent". Imo it's the actual lack of resources that didn't make Dust the game it deserves to be (and that would probably never be)-
I'd be surprised if there are more than 10 guys working on Dust.

So ask yourself why. Why only 10?
Because DUST was poorly implemented.
Because bad management.
Bad management no maka da money.
No money for development.
CCP sits in it's own poo.

The original guys were very incompetent, some even got fired because of it. Right now though it is the lack of resources and manpower holding development back.

Just because a scripted scene is rendered in the engine does not mean the game will actually play like that. What you were seeing was an extremely optimized scripted scene which will probably be of higher quality than actual gameplay under normal circumstances. Hell early Dust videos were rendered in the Dust engine but look way better than the actual game does.
And even so, pretty graphics have no bearing on how good the actual gameplay is. Don't fall for the hype train. Will the game be good? Possibly. But you saw nothing but a hype trailer, so don't draw any conclusions about the game at all based off of it, other than it has pretty nice graphics.

Hype train for Battlefront is dead. No substantial story-mode, no space battles, railed at-ats, pre-announced DLC, 8 maps, 4 planets., and no clone wars maps. There's a reason why EA is the worst company in the world.
The reason you feel that your ideas are knocked down so easily is because you're too narcissistic to consider what you say could be wrong, or what others say will not be in accordance with your opinion. EDIT:
You know what, I'm tired of posting idea's on this forum only to be shot down or criticised by a community that has turned how bad the game they support is into a running joke. A community isn't suppose to have a love/hate relationship with there game. I'm just done with dust, I'll go try out planetside 2, they don't have a story but at least their game works and the devs know what they're aiming for. and yea I expect to see posts of cya and why should we care but only 2,000 - 3,000 people place this game at a time, can it afford to lose any more
Bro, that is why I (possibly we) play Dust. The maddeningly OUTRAGEOUS LOVE/VILE HATRED relationship makes the experience. I played COD for years and it was a "meh experience" at best.

Money has nothing to do with it, when someone says x company is terrible, it doesn't mean they're financially unstable, it means they're owned by awful people that don't care about their customers.

Well considering dice is owned by EA it will be full of micro-transactions. Trailer doesn't always equal to actual gameplay. A good example is battlefield 4, it looked cool and everything but for the first few months the game was full of bugs and server failures because EA actually rushed BF4 several months earlier just to hog more money. Dust is special, it's a crappy game in the perspective of a lot of people but it isn't a parasite compared to EA.
"That gun is $4.99 if you want to use it so pay up! What's that? You don't have bullets? Well for an extra $1.99 you can get a mag! Order now and it will come with its own unique camo paint!" this is how EA sounds like to me

"It's its own game. CCP is its own company." Just the wrong "its" yu were using, nothing wrong w/ that.
Now to the real reason why I quoted you.
It IS its own game, that connects with another game BY CCP... In a weird way. In the end, without tranquility... Dust wouldn't be dust. Giving Dust "away" to non CCP gives the chance for somethings to screw up.. It also means lots of copyrighted material would change reeeeal quick.
tl;dr - In the end, thats the end of dust... It'll change so much, that it wouldn't be dust. Change engines shure, change developers? No no no.

well , on another engine , (probably on pc too) ccp had a lot of other stuff. They have tested it, it existed , it just never made it here. Can't recall what it was they were testing on, but if it was attempted on the ps3 it would have melted them all.
It even had 64 v 64 battles , that they tested and supposedly it worked |
