Dust 514 has too many lag switchers playing it now. I know when this event start all the lag switchers will be on! CCP if y'all watch this FW event closely y'all can catch a lot of the lag switchers that are killing this game. If CCP looks at the leader boards you can see who's boosting & lag switching on Dust 514. CCP the lag switching is keeping people from spending money on this game. It would be a smart move for CCP to start finding these guys lagging Dust 514 & banned them. Just pay close attention to this FW event the lag switchers will be out & active. CCP wants us to spend money on Dust 514 but we won't cause we will get cheated out of our AUR suits & gear not fair. CCP letting people lag this game is killing this game! |

Lag switching is not and has never been a thing that works in DUST 514. This is a common misconception. Lag switching is only possible in games like Call of Duty because Call of Duty lets players be hosts. Players cannot host in DUST which is why lag switching does not work. If you lag switch in DUST, the lag switcher is the one who gets lagged out.

Anyway, lag switching is a valid tactic. I got mine on the recommendation of Draxus Prime of t.h.i.r.d.r.o.c.k, and I couldn't be more pleased. The model I have basically lets me pause everybody else's game and go 50+/0. |

It's literally impossible. You may be experiencing lag, but that's just because DUST can be a somewhat laggy game in general.
I'm not "listening to the people that's doing it", I just understand why it's physically impossible to lag switch DUST.

Lag switching only works if you are able to use your device as the server.
That is not the case for Dust, as all servers are CCP servers.
Therefore you can't do it.

No, you can't.
A "lag switch" is not possible on dedicated servers. Dust 514 runs on dedicated forums which cannot be lag switched because the server is not in your control.
As previously stated...games like Call of Duty are possible to be lag switched because control of the match and server operation of that match rely's on the player. So starting / stopping it is very possible.
Its called technology, bro.....geek out and brush up on it

He was trolling you. Third rock was accused of lag switching a few weeks ago, and it was one of the more insane threads these forums have seen in months. Hence why he threw out the third rock reference. You clearly have no idea how a lag switch works.

You can lagswitch in games like Dust- although it gives you more problems than benefits:
- You are literally stopping your ps3 from sending datas to the main server, so that even if you move, the second you pull back your connection you will be automatically teleported back to your last known position, moreover, if you got shot in the meantime you'll get the full damage as soon as you reconnect.
- You can't lag-kill no one since your playstation does not communicate.
- That's the main reason why high latency is a disadvantage in games like Dust.

I had some bad lag issues last week, so I took my PS3 apart and cleaned the dust out. Then, I deleted almost everything on the hard drive and restored the database and file system, working like a charm since.

a game that comes to mind that wound up wioth a metric fkton of lag switchers and killed it , that I once loved, and can't even play no more if I wanted too.. is Socom Confrontation, loved that fkn game..hated the lag switchers, and you knew damn well when it happened.
Somehow, I was very good at that game , was part of a small but very competitive group. Loved my desert eagle Gladys, you didn't get to show yourself and live to tell about it when I had that baby out. Yet, I completely suck at this game , however I run solo majority of the time.. maybe thats what it is, I dunno. |

There is no lag switching going on in Dust.
What we have going on is bad hit detection in slow framerate situation, made exponentially worse when you face high-ping players.
This is often misinterpreted in several ways, including lag switching as was done by the OP. |

Exactly. Take it from a former videogame hacker, Games are divided into a client and a server. Dust is server based. You would literally have to be in control of the server to use lag-switching.
For those of you freaking out because I admitted that once upon a time I was a hacker, let me alleviate your worries by saying this that was literally years ago and it was on my PSP. I was just a kid and have since learned that cheating on games for fun is not worth getting banned for.
