But the strafe speed was reduced also? I think this is a good idea because it would help hit-detection and also remove scrub mode.

I believe the assist was there to accommodate the KB/M controls. I mean, you could seriously have some awesome macros set up on those things. Heck, I have r room for 8 on my mouse, and 20 on my keyboard usable with one hand and not much effort (I could have more set up but meh).
If I switched to KB/M, I could theoretically have a massive advantage over controller users simply because of all the stuff I'm able to do there, and the lack of a deadzone in movement (the middle of the analog sticks).
Just throwing it out there. |

of all the time ive played this game. i have never noticed aim assist actually work.
whether on or off. gameplay has never felt any different.
how ever if hit detection and all those other terribly abused game mechanics got fixed. gameplay could get better overall.
that stuff should have gotten fixed first before all the balancing and everything
if only we could pilot the mcc.
id end the matches real quick.

They borked up ds3-kbm emulation so bad that no, you wouldn't. Hit detection is worse than the regular amount. Aiming controls are clunky and unresponsive.
Though you're movement is pretty baller

Ya know when you remove aim assist then strafing will actually work out much better cause the little bit of help you get with aim assist helps you to fight strafers. And what will they then use? massdrivers. So basically broken strafe mechanic+massdriver= win.

As I said, there IS inertia already and it is testable and provable. But, it is very slight and you have to focus to observe it.
I guess the due to network lag other players have even harder time noticing it as server-client probably approximates and predicts and corrects the positions.

The complaints about lack of inertia are actually about poor client-side prediction.
The game has inertia, and anyone who isn't immune to evidence can strafe left and right and notice the pause themselves.

No there isn't, there is no proof that there is inertia when I circle strafe on controller or adadad strafe on keyboard there is no delay, there is no feeling of inability to stop, no momentum, no force, nothing.

It's not a real aim assist that Dust has, it's more a magnetic attraction in order to fulfill the job of the broken hit detection.
Fix the game before trying to add anything else.
(Hint: hit detection, lags, glitches,.. you've got some work :) )

I'd go further than that, adding that the hit boxes seem huge for DS3 users compared to the hit boxes for m/kb users. I see videos of Dust players on youtube, where you can tell from their turn rate consistency that their using a DS3, and their ability to not be on target, but still do damage amazes me. I think the hit boxes for DS3 users are at least twice as large as for m/kb users.

I think the hit boxes for DS3 users are at least twice as large as for m/kb users. There's two components to Aim Assist. One part is where the reticule gently follows the target, the other is where bullets get attracted to a target if you're close to hitting them.
The effects of the 2nd part are very similar to what would happen if the hitboxes were bigger.

I just suspect that lots and lots of DS3 users, who have never tried using a mouse to play Dust, don't understand that yes, we're using a mechanically faster and more precise aiming system, but we have to aim at a hitbox about 1/2 to 1/3 as large as the hitbox DS3 users are shooting.
The m/kb handicap is huge for the HMG, rifles, and shotguns. DS3 users have the advantage there. The m/kb users probably have the advantage for forge/MD/PC.
Since more kills are performed with the HMG, rifles, and shotguns than the other weapons, and since CCP won't tell us the degree to which DS3 users get more kills than m/kb users, I think its safe to assume that the margin is great enough to indicate sloppy balancing.... Some kind of aim assist is needed in any FPS by design. You can tweak various parameters in order to make it more or less noticeable and it's not just because of m/kb support being in te game.

You know, there is a very good and hard to eradicate argument that says, if a just Law or System isn't FORCED on a population of people, then a large part of its older citizens who used to profit off of the weak will LOUDLY, ENERGETICALLY vote for the opportunity to remove the just Law,GǪ while a surprising portion of citizens too young to have experienced the past will CASUALLY vote "sure, why not?--I don't see where it could do any harm", GǪ and a vast majority of silent non-voters in the middle will suffer so much brutality before the population suddenly realizes how much suffering their democratic voting caused. The argument tries to say that some good rules can't be left up to the population's preference or vote; you have to 'undemocratically' force them on the population.
I'm always going to believe I'm one of the players who has a clear and objective P.O.V. about CCP's Aim Assist. Because I'm NOT a handweapon-first player in the game, and I was there experiencing the shootouts before the aim-assist (when most of your team was too scared to even keep trying to shoot back ),GǪand I was there through the first 24 hours after Aim-Assist was activated. (As a gamer, even if you don't like the Aim-Assist, it almost makes you want to feel proud if you can say you were playing Dust in that 24-hour period---no joke. It felt like an important experience in gaming.)
The unique decisions CCP made during its design, and the REASONS why it was created, makes the Dust Aim-Assist (I think) the first of its type in fps gaming. (Can we find out and confirm this.)
None of us (only CCP) FULLY understands WHAT the assist is doing in each of engagments, and how or when it's NOT helping the player who's shooting back at us,GǪ and that only proves how award-worthy Dust's assist system is.
Over in the United States anybody's young child can walk passed and look up at the Abe Lincoln Memorial statue, and say "Who is THAT guy?--I don't know anything about him or what he did, so why don't we just tear down the building and get rid of him ?"
It's okay. If she doesn't know the history and the complete why's, no hated or vile on the kid for walking passed and SUGGESTING something like that. But, LOLGǪ Kid, just keep walking. Just... keep walking.
