My internet isn't terribly good. I think its 30 something up and I'm not too sure of the down. My ping to the US based server isn't too bad though, but I'm unsure of the packets loss (how do I check this for Dust?). My ps3 was bought brand new in 2014 so there's not much on there and I am running a decent SSD.

Maybe it's the servers? I can imagine that these servers have alot to endure about making all those calculations and receiving and transmitting all that data...? A baseline for today? It's not about the names. It's all in connection types. The US have more or less the same intetnet providers so of course they won't lag against each other. Unlike Latin America which has totally different providers and some being more crap than the US providers Same goes for Asians. Tho in their case the extreme distance causes them to lag to their advantage in this game. It's not about the names. It's not about the races. It's all about wether they have good enough ping to play with. Because this game seems to reward players with higher pings and hinder those with lower ping. So please take your social justice crap elsewhere. The Forums are a special place.

First, id like to just point out quick, the problem with them is not their ethnic makeup, its their geographic location. FPS games happen in realtime. Even though someone is in another time zone, they are still in the present and are breathing and stuff at the exact same moment in time and space as you are. So when 2 people meet in a match, the server has to draw my character for you, and your character for me. Any interactions we do have to be done in as realtime as possible. Except, if your using bad Honduran internet, or subpar Brazilian routing, or your signal has to cross the Pacific....there is going to be a realtime delay in that signal getting to the server. its going to get there a little later than my North American based signal will. This means the server has to compensate. So even if you ducked behind a wall, to play fair, on the Hondurans screen, you still arent behind the wall yet as hes shooting, so even though on your screen you just got behind cover, the server applies the compensation and applies the damage a little late. This same lag also protects them. If you are the one shooting and he goes behind cover, the server will compensate by not applying damage to the first shots fired. So even though you lit up his suit, the server determined that because of his lag, you only started shooting several miliseconds after you really started shooting, and thus, the damage is not applied. So there you go! Has nothing to do with who they are, but rather, where they live, and the fact that alot of the Latin American countries do not have internet infrastructure at the same level as us.

Majority of the lag has to do with how the network data is routed through the servers and depending on the response from the servers you will get latency issues. For example This is how the data is routed for me when i use google (im on the east coast in the US) vs baidu which is halfway across the world. http://i.imgur.com/XQm8BKm.png this is a problem for games where a person hosts the game but its more complicated with a central server like dust, im not sure how high latency data is dealt with.
