We need it faster... Seriously... Surprising us with something ahead of schedule that affects the overall gaming experience in terms of PvP or PvE would be tremendous enough to bring back old players and usher in the new. Everything is moving so slow here. More players are leaving than joining; and the main reason? Not enough worthwhile content. But I'm sure this isn't the first thread to speak on this issue. Hanging on by a thread isn't just a phrase anymore... o/

Hey, militia plebeian, the content in Warlords 1.1 and 1.2 has features that even new players can enjoy. We're getting a new game mode, for example. Pretty sure 'Acquisition' won't be restricted to protogear only.

I'm not sure that's the case obviously, but it seems like someone would see that bringing old players back to use $ on the new stuff they've added would create far more revenue than any other AUR using feature provided to the current playerbase. |

Rat spoke of splitting the players by skill at the Fanfest Dust Roundtable.
That will grow the playerbase if the new bros can fight each other rather than being 0-13 stat pads until they quit after a few days.

Down at the bottom you can see that hundreds of new characters are created a day.
Retaining some of them longer than a few sessions is the key to growing the player base.
Fighting attrition.
Give them real modes, real rewards but free of the 6 man / 50 million + SP proto death squads.
CCP will do this because that is a huge focus of the company right now, as reflected by their changes in Eve Online and what we have seen so far here on Dust 514.
As a gaming company they have to create an environment that new players can experiment with the game with out the frustration of competing with the top tier players.
They have high sec in Eve Online for this and they are changing mechanics to make the end game more accessible to small groups, and this new match making system with do the same here on Dust 514.
Grouping the new players together on BOTH sides of the matches is in essence a High Sec for Dust 514.
Once they get up to speed and start stomping the ever living **** out of their few new bros, they will be dropped into Proto Stomp Hell...
Those that make it that far will have a much higher retention rate than those that are dropped immediately into the fray as they are now.
It will be a great change for our community, as it will actually allow the player base to grow.

I've been up to date with the current events from our Dev's, paying attention to what they do intentively. Simply put, Dust is like a house in the middle of winter with no insulation; holes in various rooms and other places that brings in the cold draft. CCP is the contractor that told you they would fix it, yet never got around to it... ever.

I agree with this statement. However I don't agree with CCP's business practices involving Dust and the magical leprechaun that is Legion, but the only voice that CCP wants to listen, seems to be their own. Little tweaks to tanks here and guns there won't give this game any true boost consistently. Already the folks that showed up for this "echo" patch, chunked up the deuce and went back to their other video games. It's no where near enough content at this point in this game's history. Major changes need to happen. Major changes that can shift this great concept out of the mired soot that it's plagued itself and its consumer base with. The PS3 can handle what needs to get done. They just have to actually get to it. Fast.

The recent stuff these guys released was purely a money grabbing stunt and disgusting to watch... Truly. They still haven't fixed the Apex suit's favorability selection or the renaming of it. Really half-arse stuff.

I'm not sure I agree with this. I think Rattati knows where it needs to go. Dust was a killed game less than a year ago. There's no other way to look at it, someone at CCP thought it was time to put a nail in Dust's coffin with the Legion announcement. If that wasn't intentional then I think it looks even worse as a decision.
We are months removed from there never being another expansion. I think we are getting ahead of ourselves with the opportunities that the current dev team has to work with.
There aren't subscriptions to track so I think it's safe to say the only thing a FTP game can present to investors/shareholders is player retention and their spending habits. It's obvious that our small playerbase is spending well, now it's time to work on the other item. |

I sometimes wonder if some of these developers that work on parts of Dust aren't subcontractors or something similar. In other words they'd have higher costs pulling someone back to polish something up rather than just having an employee work on it.
It's really the only way some of the small stuff being f'd up for months makes sense.
As much as I like the officer suits and weapons, we still have small issues with existing stuff. Experimental weapons still have glitched stats. I have no idea what the workload would be or the costs associated, but it seems that fixing these items that provide ammunition for the detractors would be first on the list.
I don't want to see added items until the existing ones have correct stats, descriptions, etc. To clarify, I think this needs to be done instead of adding more items not to detract from bringing new gamemode content. |

They've been receiving money from the consumer since the market opened. We honestly have nothing to prove at this point, they do. All of the moves they've made up until now with our dollars has been a self sabotage, when the answer has been coming from the forums this whole time. They follow their own path and have lost the trust of any person who has an ounce of common sense. You want to see real money kick into this game? Release the content they have slotted from now through the PC Backlog on trello by mid April and watch Lazarus rise from the dead.

People can blame protostompers and bad matchmaking for the lack of new or dwindling playerbase, but the fact is that the game isnt fun and people dont wanna play it. I dont think any hotfix, patch or content can change much about that.

1st of all, monetization is the only way for the game to move on!
Do you really think, the freebie nolifer LOLVETS improve this game? No it's the people who spend money on it. I agree, that CCP has serious management issues, and the recent turn to no promises, deliver when ready aproach, is a very welcome one.
This game is in development stasis. We will see tweaks and small improvements, but no major content updates. These will be saved for a platform move if that comes.
If you want to help the game, make the new player experience better. This is mainly for CCP to do, seperation the LOLVETS from the academy graduates is key here. I would also apreciate a non proto gamemode for high sp characters, because not everybody can/wants to play PC to have a lolwallet like you guys do.

I play with STD gear 95% of the time,4% of the time i spend in ADV gear and 1% in proto gear (proto charge sniper to shoot proto LOLVETS).I am not interested in PC and I play this mostly for fun.I bet there is 80% players who wants to play this for fun,not for stupid virtual politics and with underraged b*stards who don't know anything besides swearing and blaming others for lacking of their skill.I refuse to play this game with proto gear because:
1.I like challenges 2.I give others a chance to kill me 3.Proto gear is overly priced for what it offers 4.It's R E T A R D E D

So much this.
RDV takes three minutes to drop my tank? Great job CCP, glad to see that that hasn't changed in the months I took off.
Absolutely horrid FPS on certain maps, and yet those maps stay in the rotation because otherwise there would be even less content to use.
In the year since they announced legion, there have been no substantial improvements to the performance of the game, it is still shoddy as hell. What they have done is add a metric ton of monetization options because making more money off of people who don't know their track record is the definition of success for CCP.
Until this game can maintain a solid 30 FPS for every map, it will always be little more than a joke. I only fire up dust to boot around with my friends and slowly dwindle my supplies of officer weapons.
CCP can dream all they want, and the CPM can whisper hype all they dare, but as long as the performance of the game is so horrid it will never have a hope of growing.
Why would you play infantry in Dust when you can get much better gameplay in any number of other shooters, even older ones?

The LOLVETS you refer to were putting money into this game when it was in closed beta. Then Uprising dropped and we realized that we had been lied to for months. Many quit, some stuck it out, and continued to invest in the future and hope for the best. Fast forward to Fanfest '14, and we get to find out that Dust is dead, and a new game has been where our money was going instead of towards making Dust no crap.
The monetization options were needed, but only because the game itself wasn't good enough to make people invest money, and the future hope, well CCP went out of their way to dash that.
With Shanghai split between three projects, no one should be hoping for serious quality improvements in Dust, so they are relying on the ignorant to invest in their BS. Given how sloppy the game is, why would someone who is new invest in it? What incentive do they have to look a dust as it is, and say that this game is going places when it still has all the same performance problems as it did two years ago?

I don't know. Why don't ask the fanboys for Star Citizen who already invested over $76 million into a game that hasn't even been released yet?
