Any advice for a returning player?

I used to be pretty good, if I do say so myself, and I used to love the game, but I pretty much left a few months after they announced Legion. Well, I'm back. At least, I think I am. We'll see, I guess. I tried to jump back into a game the other day, and I just got slaughtered. Does any one have any advice for a returning vet? I used to run Caldari assault and assault rail rifles right before I left, and my AV game pretty much consisted of JLAV's (I know, I'm a jerk. I just can't stand redline tankers). Do any of these things still work? Or should I skill into something new? Thanks! You were the chosen one, CCP! It was said that you would create a great game, not destroy one!

Went over to Destiny and got to see what profit whoring really looks like. What an awful game. Anyway, I came back to Dust about a month ago. The biggest adjustment for me was getting used to the mechanics again. I found myself re-watching Regnum's videos on how to strafe shoot in combat from back in beta days. But what works in other games just doesnt work here, and vise versa. As for weapons thats a personal choice. Just remember that if you are comparing this to anything else youve played recently... just don't. You cant compare. Destiny was god awful for so many reasons but their mechanics were excellent. Bullets went exactly where you would expect them to when you point and shoot. In dust it just doesnt happen quite the way it should. I am not trying to hate on the game or troll anybody. I think I speak the truth and it comes down to expectation management. If you are coming back, manage your expectations on return. If you expect nothing, I think you will be pleasantly surprised actually. All else aside, it's a better game today than it was a year ago!

I can only lay down 2 RE's and not 4 at a time...? People no longer dance around when they are hacking or waiting for their LAV/HAV/Dropship....easy kills.... Selling stuff to the market is a great change. The Warbarge thing I still don't know about...? is 'Sniper Hate' still a thing ???? If not I'm bringing it back...

Its essentially a cost that each deployable EQ item has. Each suit and tier has its own BW limit. Once you get past your BW limits, the first EQ you dropped will pop. Also, if you switch to a suit that has a lower cap than one you started, your new BW limit applies to all previously deployed EQ, and again the first EQ will pop until your deployed EQ is within your BW. This was to cut down on EQ spam, and people starting off in Logis, spamming ULs and switching The WB is a personal item that essentially manufactures items, ISK etc. It is upgraded via WB components which the WB produces, and can be gained in salvage and strongboxes. There is a lot to it, and we don't fully know what the upgrades are because there are limitations set so people can't just go bananas with AUR to upgrade them. Eventually, the WBs will have a corporate component as well, with each individual's WB contributing to the Corp's WB bonuses. Former CEO of the Land of the BIind. Played dust exclusively for about a year and a half, took many breaks over the last 6 months and now I am playing again a lot more. Honesty, just have fun with the game. Do the things that you find enjoyable. Don't take clone deaths seriously and above all, do not let the game begin to stress you out. As for what you should use, (I always say this because I am a PLC fan boy) try the plc on a lightning fast , speed tanked dampened scout. Or perhaps try a weapon you have not really used much? I think you should play it for a while before doing anything -- just don't slow your suit down with any reactive or regular armor plates.

I left over a year ago with hundreds if not thousands of vets angry about the legion announcement, a lot of us are having a blast in the PS2 closed beta and the future of the game looks really great. I prefered the Cal Scout over the Cal Assault; it is faster, has far better regen rates, can avoid scans and can fit a cloak if need be. retired lurking replying

Yeah, the RR is still too good at the close ranges most people fight in but I can't harp on that too much cause the A / RR isn't that good for the range it was intended for anymore. I'd rather close the distance and use the RR in CQC than sit on a out of balance washing machine trying to hit a moving target at long range. It really does need to be reversed so that the RR fires almost as smooth as butter while ADS but not being able to hit the broadside of a barn while hip firing and then the ARR can be allowed to hip fire 25% better or something at the cost of some ADS stability. Though it still needs to be bad enough in CQC and good enough while ADS so that you would only use it in CQC instead medium range when you had no choice. Other things have been rebalanced, but IMO, it's all for the better (give me another week and I'm sure I'll have some QQ).
