The heat is one of the most random features of the weapon.
You can spam R1 the exact same way every time and I swear it gives you different results.
Sometimes the heat reaches half, sometimes it overheats before you finish half the mag.
It's disgustingly unreliable.

I was using the Viz ScR and the Black Eagles Assault Rifle combo the other day and may god when I ran out of ScR rounds that Plasma Rifle just kept me alive killing things. I think the whole 70 rounds in a magazine is more than enough to keep it effective against strafers.
