Myself, Sgt Kirk, and Galm Fae have all been messing with the new Drifter ships in EVE which appear to be related to the Jove at least in terms of technology and appearance.
These guys like to hang around structures of the same design of their ship that Cat Merc helpfully pointed out are half the size of his home country of Israel. These things appear to be some kind of listening post, and frequently have the Sleeper Circadian Seeker drones near them or wandering around the system, always scanning things.
Now, we decided we would attack one of these Drifters. I lost a Garmur to one because their turrets float next to their hull instead of being attached, so they have no limitation of tracking speed and do perfect damage to any target at any speed at any range.
Eventually Galm showed up in a Drake, and we found out that their shield bar shows up blue because shooting them charges energy for a super-weapon that can wipe out a ship in one shot.
So yeah, these scary mother******* are all over New Eden right now and no on really knows what to do about them.
Just a heads up for all of you who don't play EVE. Since this game doesn't have an EVE section, I'm putting this here to make sure everyone sees it.

I'm just here to gloat that I survived one attack from a Drifter Battleship on two accounts that night.
Apparently they get rid of the lesser threat targets first because I can be killed instantly and allow the most threatening ships to deal enough damage to them to where they can use that collected energy to use their Doomsday weapon.

Tactically sound. Reduce the incoming DPS as much as possible while lessening targets, eventually you're left with only the handful of major threats that your doomsday can take care of.
It's.... Actually somewhat brilliant.

I can confirm this report. There's little point in poking these craft in the eye currently, but we anticipate a greater importance will be placed on adequately combating these threats in the future. For now all we can hope to do is organize, train, and equip multiple quick reaction forces that are specialized in this form of combat.
I wish I new that bit about ECM, the Drake was loaded with ECM drones but I didn't bother launching them in caseI needed to warp out. Shows how well that worked.

Sadly I don't think Sensor Dampeners would do any good against these guys so I'd be useless unless a targeting speed script is useful.
I'm thinking the sensory jammers, burst ECM and weapon destabilizers could probably do a load of good against them.
Especially weapon destabilizers in my mind.
Looks like this is a job for Caldari and Amarr and the ECM side.

Unlikely but not impossible. Beyond the fact that we know the now suddenly exist....their actual purpose in New Eden is unknown, their numbers are unknown, beyond they significantly more advanced military capabilities no one knows how many their are or even if they have the numbers to mount terrestrial assaults.
It would be truly terrifying if they somehow could strike at planetary targets as well.

To sink a Paladin like that is kind of shocking. Seems like in the second clip he had Bastion module running to be able to take down one of the ships but that must have been after it had fired its Doomsday weapon.
For those who have fought them before it is possible to not take any casualties and take one down?

That may not even be the worst of it. Since we know next to nothing about the nature of their weapons as well I've heard all sorts of wild theories including Anti-Matter Particle Streams.....

Looks like the OP did not read 'The Empyrean Age' which basically does explain all this and the new super weapon that you are only just seeing.
In fact the Amarr empress Jamyl Sarum had access to this weapon and used it to hammer back the Minmatar fleets who had decended on the throne worlds to rescue a long forgotten race of Minmatar who were thought to have been extinct. |

A possibility though that is not IC knowledge. Sadly the super weapon has been destroyed by heretical/heathen intervention which if I am not mistaken cause the Isogen-5 disasters on Seyllin and other planets.
Still nothing to suggest the Drifter weapons and the super weapon the Empress used are of the same origin.

They are now immune to jamming and their guns hit out to 400km.

I don't mean to sound like I'm shitting myself, but those things will waste through any fleet the Amarr Navy can put together, not to mention any of the other nations.
Given we still don't even know what they want or what they did to the remnants of the Jove, there's pretty big cause for worry.

That I actually significantly doubt. If the results of the conflict at Pike's Landing showed us anything it is that it takes a combined fleet of the Ishukone Megacorporation, the Federation, and Mordu's legion to present a hindrance to a detechment of the Golden Fleet.

When this man give the Amarr credit for anything you know he means it.
While the Drifter's do have significantly more developed technologies the fact still remains that the Golden Fleet is more or less the most powerful Empire Fleet that has existed to this date. If we cannot hold them at bay then no other force in the cluster is likely to have the power to do so.
Personally I would rather work with the other Empires if it means protecting the Amarrian people both present and future.

If we cannot hold them at bay then no other force in the cluster is likely to have the power to do so. Personally I would rather work with the other Empires if it means protecting the Amarrian people both present and future. If you seriously think the Golden Fleet is built for anything more than dying en masse then you need to reassess your understanding of naval warfare. That cute little fireworks display that your empress pulled out of her ass against the republic fleet? Barely holds a candle to what each of these drifter battleships are individually equipped with. I've seen drifter warfare firsthand, and even a single ship is fully capable of decimating an organized capsuleer fleet.
If you think Pike's Landing somehow justifies the ability of the Amarr, well that's just embarrassing. Pike's Landing wasn't just a case of too many cooks in the kitchen, it nearly drove the Imperial Navy into a miniature civil war. The chaos of the situation made adequate response by any faction impossible, and you simply can't use it as any sort of way to justify formal warfare with Jovian technology for a number of reasons.
Forces were literally massed around the planet and were prepared to raze that rock into nothing but a ball of glass. The responding Republic forces were allocated from an already hard-pressed fleet, it's amazing the Minimatar were able to organize a response at all much less hold their ground against an Avatar-class titan. Every Amarr ship lost to that pathetic quick reaction force should be an insult.
The Federation attempted (and failed) to ensure their assault against Pike's landing was covert as a gambit of the Rodin administration to steal a piece of military technology. No surprise that they failed miserably and were just barely able to work out a deal with Ishukone and Mordu's Legion before they were totally wiped out.
The Legion would have been entirely capable of securing Pike's Landing themselves, were the space around the planet not clogged with incompetent Matari dreadnoughts. Even after lossing most of their forces after the initial jump in, rumor still goes around that one team of legionaries managed to hit the ground and cause massive casualities on the local Paladins.
Which brings us to Ishukone... Ohhhhhhhhhh Ishukone. Where to even begin. They were but one corperation out of the entire Caldari State, attempting to organize the coup d'etat by making a mad dash to the Templars and completely ignoring Amarr Forces that surrounded the planet.
My point is, the Golden Fleet is still as incompetent as the day they went to war against the Jove. And in true imperial fashion they show almost an offensive adamance to ignore history while dooming themselves to repeat it. The Amarr will fail.

You know some think that a single Drifter ship is only manned by a handful of personnel and the rest is all automated? Why don't we just invade a drone hive? Without a flashlight? It'd be about as fun and only slightly less difficult.
