I'm not even talking about ranged combat, I'm talking about CQC. When that guy with the shotgun, Nova Knives, Flaylock, HMG, SMG, Scrambler Rifle or bolt pistol shoes up the AR won't save you. The CR will save you though and so will the ARR. Put your flags up in the sky. And wave them side to side. Show the world where you're from. Show the world we are one.

An AR certainly won't save you from an HMG because loloptimals, assuming you both have similar gun game. Not only that, but an HMG user will most likely have more HP than an AR user for most cases, so it would be extremely unlikely to survive.

Yes it may have a large clip size and hip fire is ok but I think its that itbis better against shield. How many cqc do u get in with a caldari assault? Because I never do, they pick you off at range. Most cqc you get into they are amor stacked and you can barly touch it. My current fit is alloteck burst at for mid range and core locus grenade cooked to perfection for close range . All else failing that its my breach sub. Which may I add is not a blaster weapons so no bonus . I refuse to use the ion pistol because of it terrible range and over heats alot and also yet again this weapon is against Shields . Which doesn't help at all in cqc

The CR has a better range, so you can take the heavy on at a further distance, thus decreasing the amount of bullets that connect due to spread from the HMG. You could engage at further distance with the AR, but you may lose your optional, whereas the CR will allow you to go a bit further. My point still stands.

It's just that there are rifles that are over performing and people take it as the standard and then compare it to the Vanilla AR, SCRs and RR. A quick way to tell if something may not be right with a weapon is to notice how much of a difference going through both defenses are on an enemy. Vanilla RR and ARR (not ADV though) is pretty obvious that it takes a little bit longer to punch through shields to get to that delicious armor. Vanilla AR is the same bit backwards. Breach AR on the other hand I don't really notice as big of a difference like I can the others and if you have a Modded Controller the TAC AR ends up in OP territory. I don't have an Amarr alt so I can't say anything about the Scramblers too much. But when compared to the combat rifle even against Caldari Assaults with actual shield builds it seems like it doesn't matter too much. It just chops it down. But it this a bad thing? I'm not too sure. The CR is annoying on other suits but it's most potent on the Min Assault. The Combat Rifle's drawback is the small Mag size, but it makes up for in..well everything else. The incredible RoF the weapon has capable of instablapping you as long as you land most of the rounds sounds very minmatar and I'm cool with that even in my CQC range. The Problem I'm thinking comes in when you have a bonus that negates the rifles one major flaw making it capable of turning your Quick instablap Mag into an insta blap mini machine gun capable of having your "blapping power" constant instead of in an instant. Calling for range buffs (or bonus) on the Vanilla AR would certainly make it OP. Calling for more damage on the Rail Rifles would definitely make them OP. Wanting SCR heat build up reduced even more would without a doubt make it OP I'm sure. Weapons have weaknesses for a reason, so they can be countered and when you get into giving bonuses to reduce a weapons weakness you have to step lightly or easily find yourself breaking balance. *~New Eden's #1 Gallente Arm's Dealer*

I have, but the charge shot of the Scrambler Rifle allows it to quickly down scouts and allows it an edge when fighting against heavies. Targets that the TAR struggles to down quickly.
