They need broken hit detection. If hit detection worked PC would change over night. Who would toss cores and RE's to get kills when you could just kill the moron that is strafing instead of taking cover. Scouts also need hit detection to be poor.

Just replace all the scouts and assaults with Sentinels.
Instead of 3 logis, 5 sentinels, it would be 3 Logis, 11 Sentinels...
If hit detection worked 100%, Sentinels would need the ever living **** nerfed out of them.

I hate all the jumping and strafing too, but I also want to be more successful in fights so I do it.
Strafing, at least in one direction is something you do as infantry in RL anyway so I try to do that. You move to one side as you circle in closer around the target.
Death is a serious business. So is running a shoddy, half-baked game company.

That I dont mind. I am actually used to seeing that in even third person shooters like Warhawk, its the wiggle wiggle figure 8 lol. I dont mind the jumping either.
Like I said before, I am bored of using the flaylock, Mass driver isnt so good on a scout suit because I kill myself and with the low rate of fire and about 1000eHP medium suits it takes a while.
So I can have more fun again I will skill into the shotgun again but only to max the reload speed and also I will be getting my protoscanner and maxing my bolt proficiency
Breach shotgun bolt pistol Proto scanner
I hope that can me more of a challenge and more fun

Strafe and aim assist disgrace this game. The strafer does not need to think about choosing the position and characteristics of the target. All that he needed - just a quick pull left stick from side to side.
Where a strafe penalty, which promised for HP modules?

I have never seen such 'strafing' outside of dust. No other game that I've played let's you 'strafe' like that.

I have no problem killing strafers in normal frame rate situations....and if I don't it's because the other player is simply better than me, so I simply tip my hat to them for besting me and try to learn what I can from the encounter.
My only frustration with strafing is when it occurs during slow framerate situations, making hitting the other party near impossible.
That knife cuts two ways, however, so if you can't beat them, I would suggest joining them. Personally, I do it with a Cal Scout or a speed tanked Gal Assault. Others have success with mass drivers and/or flaylocks. |

You could use an SMG... seriously, so many strafing scouts run at my forge gunner, not to realise how my heavy strafing mixed with their strafing makes it very difficult to land enough shotgun hits to beat me before the spray eliminates them. For 'additional scrub' turn your auto-aim on, it doesn't miss, lol. |

Ok, Massdriver against strafers, kincats for jump out from RE's... Explain why I have to use any equipment for the reason that someone is abusing the shortcomings of the game?

Yet again you think an extremely more advanced society won't develop ways to move our mass faster through science and technology?
The rabbit evolved to do what it can do. Technology is vastly better than evolution in many ways especially since we can tailor it to our needs.
Speed has always been an advantage in war. The Mongols used the speed of their horses. The Germans used the speed of their tanks and the blitzkrieg. Jet engines replaced propellers. Speed is always important.
If you don't think a highly advanced military wouldn't make its soldiers as fast and maneuverable as technologically possible than that's your problem.

It's better than hearing more bitching from baddies that can't deal with a core mechanic of this game.
If these scubs want another boring ass twitch shooter where the first person to shoot wins 90% of the time there are plenty of them to choose from. Strafing actually adds complexity and player skill into Dust instead of most of the FPS which are just all copies of each other.

No but insta killing another player because you saw him .2 seconds before he saw you like in COD and BF while using the insanely strong aim assist those games have...that takes skill.

Actually, neither of them is truly a skill.
Breaking hit detection with a stupid gimmick doesn't take skill and neither does relying on a client-embedded aimbot.
The real "baddies" are anyone who can actually defend either of these.
Dust514 =/= BF4 Dust514 =/= CoD Dust514 =/= DDR
Dust514 === Dust514 and it should remain that way.
IDK about you but I was attracted by the potential of this being something other than your run-of-the-mill shooter. If I wanted to have a twitchy DDR lobby shooter experience, I'd play some other mass produced Lowest Common Denominator FPS because let's face it, it has core mechanics that are 100% more stable than what we have here.
I'm not though. I am right here and I will be right here.

Not compared to many other FPS out there.
Many times in dust I have been attacked from behind and I'm able to turn, fire at the enemy and kill them before they kill me.
This is very hard to achieve in real twitch shooters as the first one to attack wins most of the time because TTK is so short.
The hallmark of a twitch game is normally the fastest reaction time wins. But being first, or reacting faster doesn't always guarantee a win in Dust as there are many more variables to consider in Dust versus other FPS.
Skills, suits, damage types and yes even strafing contribute to who wins in a 1 v 1. Not just who shoots first.

Obviously, if someone is a brick tanked infantry it will take a bit unless you're using the SG, RE, or NK.
DUST TTK has gone down over the years. Turning what battles I used to love into more of a 'twitch' shooter and/or 'strafe hero' game, something I'm tired of in other games.

I have never seen such 'strafing' outside of dust. No other game that I've played let's you 'strafe' like that. Because in CoD (or any other game for that matter) you die in 0.2 seconds, so you don't get to strafe. Try using a MinScout with no HP mods, and you'll see that it is the same. One: I mean you cannot strafe that way at all. I've tested it when I'm not under fire. Two: I don't play CoDThree: Minja without HP mods is my main Scout. Try again. I don't either, but we all know TTK is pretty much insta-kill there. That was the point. Also, you know how fast a Minscout dies with no HP mods, so I don't have to explain there. That is good. And what kind of epic strafe are you talking about for #1?
I'm talking about people switching directions in fraction of a second constantly.
Games like Killzone do not let you go left-right-left-right constantly to break the games hit detection. Then again, games like Killzone don't have hit detection issues.
I miss the AR camera sight. :(

Francois Sanchez wrote:Izlare Lenix wrote:This isn't the days of old where we stand still in a field and take turns shooting each other.
In a real life battlefield you constantly move or you get flanked or a grenade/rpg lands in your lap and you die.
In a futuristic game where I'm a super soldier and have enhanced speed/ mobility you can be damn sure I will take advantage of it. Even if you're a super soldier, there are some basic physics laws that should be respected, NOTHING can instantly change direction without passing by zero speed. You can't have an infinite acceleration.
Wait, wait.... who taught you physics? This is way better explained in Spanish and Latin, but here it comes. A vector, to be a vector needs to fulfill some stuff: 1.- Magnitude. In this case, speed. Which will determinate how fast the object moves. (Usually the longer the line, the greater the magnitude) 2.- Direction. Usually represented by a straight line. 3.- "sense" In Spanish is called "Sentido", in English is sometimes referred as "arrow". Or a mark to determinate where is the force applied to, or the speed in this matter.
Implying that an object can ONLY move in one direction, and one only, without passing from "zero speed" means that circular movement is a myth. And many, many objects change direction without stopping first in order to do so. Examples are many. A car in the highway taking a curve, a freaking mosquito flying around you, the Earth itself is moving changing direction constantly.
And there are many ways to achieve what you believe it's impossible. Someone mentioned a rabbit, which can strafe. Not only with a lighter (Or less) mass, but with a greater magnitude/force applied (Legs). So as some mentioned, a suit with a greater force applied in the legs could easily achieve what you mark as impossible. Yes, it passes from "zero speed", but that moment is just to short for you to notice, so it can be considered as if it didn't exist in first place.
And having a greater force in the legs wouldn't imply that it can move at the speed of light. It'd be like a car with more horse power (HP). And as people know, a car that has more HP than another doesn't imply it can move at a higher speed.
Physics are OP XD
Some links, just for reference. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Circular_motion http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vector
Getting back to the original post, someone already mentioned it: Dust is Dust. Don't try to make it fit where it doesn't belong. Crappy games like BF, CoD, MoH and so, will stay as crappy as ever because of what they are. (Hope you get a chance to get into last BF beta) I've played plenty shooters, and in everyone you can strafe. It's most used in close combats. Either you receive the bullet or you move, your call.
L8er!
Edit: In this video you can hear about the magnitude, direction and the "arrow" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GKQdkS0qG3g

The players who strafe with a k/bm don't use circular motion, they keep a constant speed going opposite directions without any deceleration. No matter how hard you try you can't go <---that way, and then go ----> that way without stopping to change the direction of force applied. That force required to do that would have to be greater than the force that initiates and maintains that motion, but as you can see from the stats of dropsuit characters all suits run at a fixed constant rate.
Even circular motion requires a greater amount of force to be applied to go against the angle of the motion. Both forms of motion cannot allow for an object going at a constant rate to change directions, suddenly and against it's original direction.
That's just silly.

Ok, so physics again. Strictly toalking, changing from --> to <-- is not a "direction change". You only change the little arrow which could be described as "sentido", "Sense", "Way", "Arrow".
Again, it need 3 things. Magnitude: ---> -------> Both are vectors with the same direction and arrow.
Direction: ------>
+« | |
Two vectors with about the same magnitude, but different direction.
Arrow (Sentido, sense, way): <----- -----> Both vectors have the exact same magnitude and direction. They change the arrow.
But forget about that.
gustavo acosta wrote:The players who strafe with a k/bm don't use circular motion What is a k/bm?
gustavo acosta wrote:They keep a constant speed going opposite directions without any deceleration. Have you actually tried to do that? If you do it as fast as you thing, the character will remain almost still, because it stops before going the other way. And I'm guessing that by "speed" you mean it's velocity, but what about acceleration? (Deceleration is a negative acceleration) The acceleration and the velocity are related, but they describe different things. The original posts said infinite acceleration, but that's even more stupid, as not even the light has an infinite acceleration. In fact light, even when it moves that fast, it has 0 acceleration. But when the movement starts, the acceleration is huge. Mathematically you could describe any movement that starts as an infinite acceleration in an infinitesimal time. Meaning a huge force applied in a fraction of time. And all systems have responses to the "impulse". Anyway, getting outta subject here. But keep in mind, you, as a person have "infinite" acceleration when you start walking. Or could be considered that way. And you don't increase the walking speed gradually over time.
gustavo acosta wrote: The force required to do that would have to be greater than the force that initiates and maintains that motion, but as you can see from the stats of dropsuits, all suits run at a fixed constant rate.
Yes, but the fact that the suits might have a superior strength (Legs in this case) doesn't imply they would run at non-constant rate. This could only mean that they reach its top speed in a fraction of time. As well, that's why I mentioned HP. A car with 1000HP doesn't necessarily go "faster" (Higher velocity) than a car with 800HP. And yes, a car with 1000HP would have greater force than one with 800HP. At the end this just means how easily it can maintain its top speed. And how fast it can reach it.
Physics are OP! XD

Keyboard and mouse.
For an object to move from this to this a stronger force has to be placed on the object or emitted from the object. That is not the case with dropsuits because they all run at the same speeds, and strafe at the same speed. Therefore the force applied by the dropsuit in order move does not change. There is no reason to believe that dropsuits add more force when changing direction because the strafe speed is a constant variable.
There is no acceleration in Dust period.
