Here is a list of the features added in patches since 1.9. I do not include the maps, because they were already designed over a year ago by Logicloop but left unimplemented.
Loyalty ranks Daily missions Strongboxes Market agents Stackable boosters Instant boosters Warbarges RNG BPOs APEX BPOs
Every single one of these features is strongly, if not entirely AUR based. There has been no new content purely for the purpose of improving the game.
Why? Where is all of this money going? There's an immense amount of monetisation going on here but none of it seems to be going into the game except to milk more money.
I am disappointed. Warlords is a flagship update but it has no new non-AUR content. What's happening?
In comparison all the other 1.0 updates added an immense amount of new content that was actually accessible without paywalling. Uprising, for all of its flaws, had a vast amount of new content. Chromosome added new kit, as did Codex, E3, and Precursor.
Warlords is the only 1.0 update that hasn't added some. Even with a reduced dev team to consider, this stacks up very poorly.

Yes i'd like to know where it's going as well and a concrete answer on if dust will ever be on ps4 or pc as well before i spend more money.
I want a yes or no, no more hopes or negative bs, i want an actual dev or a cpm to convey what a dev has said. I want to know for certain where this game is going. I'm already buying another lolps3 to play this game as it is.
Decisions are always made way in advance with business (generally anyway), ccp is a business so it must know where it's going with dust and i'd or rather we, the general playerbase would like to know where we stand on what is going to happen with the game.
Is it getting thrown away eventually when the ps3 becomes even more obsolete than it already laughably is?
is it simply the test area for bits of legion?
is it getting ported in the future?.
Sorry to sound self entitled but i have spent a fk load so i feel a bit entitled to know at least where the game is going and if it's worth me continuing to spend more on the game like i want to.

They are probably trying to reach a certain level of revenue to either help keep Dust running longer than it otherwise would, or are trying to prove to the upper management that new art assets are worth being dedicated to Dust 514.
The fact that they don't have any dedicated artists left should continue to be noted.

I would really, REALLY respect the Dev that has the guts to respond to this thread. The question Arkena poses is not confrontational or disrespectful, and it is completely valid. Your move, CCP.
Side note, you left the automatic inertia dampener off your list of new features, and while it is a terrible feature that none of us want, it's at least not entirely geared towards monetization. So I guess there's that.

lol, the million dollar question. However, based off the limited shelf life of the ps3, I would imagine it's being applied to a new game.

One would hope that it is additional funding / testing the waters for a future product - aka Legion.
However the complete and total lack of information has me worried. A small sign of respect would go a long way. I dont think many will continue to support this game if there is no future or any actual development on the game other than paywalls.

Apparently we are getting more frames added to the framerate. That goes hand in hand with improvements to pc though.
There were a lot of good hotfix changes, but the actual patches seem to be bloating the game rather than moving it forward. |

My guess would be that when the devs were pulled to work on EVE or EVE: Valkyrie, Dust was nowhere near financially viable. Thusly a bar was set. My prediction is that was that bar is met, we will start to see other improvements to the game.
Why else would the updates contain so much AUR promoting stuff?
There is always a possibility that Dust will be shut down unexpectedly, but that possibility always exists, I guess.
Of note, I have been lurking the Devs and this community for the last 6 months and I feel as though this update was a big deal for the current dev team. It kinda sees like a weight has been lifted off of their shoulders.
Does anyone else notice more friendly, light hearted Dev posts? Dev tweets about how they are playing right now... All stuff I've never seen before. Kinda fun to think about either way... |

It's because before dust was in the development stage and would be expected to make a loss whilst it's established
Now it's a mature product it's expected to at least break even and with the limited player base it means milking players daily

the money is going to pull ccp out of their hole.
i think rattati is a great lead, if not a reinessence dev. Last year ccp lost millions in usd to dust, and for little payout. This money needs to be paid back. knowing ccp and rattati, this can be done. However this will not last forever. And rattati knows this.
Here is what i'd do for the next update; 1)assign Frame to get some data on new player experience. 2)give frame a friend 3)give us racial parity. I would not mind if ccp completely dropped the dev timeline to say 'we will get racial parity done early april' 4)give us open metrics. This means API for dust characters. (Not pay for api, free api) logibro and his team could prolly finish that in 4 weeks tops. 5)BPOs need to go (again) they encourage players not to buy more aurum etc. 6) I know how you guys like weapons design. get some **** on that. 7)an open ear saves in the research field.
There is a reason you never see me in battle.

Honestly, you shouldn't have to "pay" anything to know if a developer is planning on supporting things or what the future plans are going to be. Players felt betrayed before the Red Fanfest because they were explicitly told that Dust was a long-term investment for CCP that would X features coming eventually, and CCP said "Dust-dead, now look at Legion on a different platform!"
There was some press after that, and it's been firmly in the region of the question mark ever since. CCP started added more monetization to Dust as Arkena suggested, but it's not like they've publicly stated too much. There's that roadmap, but CCP-corporate never exactly walked back the canned-Dust maybe-Legion business.
I wouldn't spend a cent on anything CCP makes while things remain as vague as they appear to be right now.

Yeah but "Is it worth it" COD alone sells 5+ million copies on day one for activision. Dust on the other hand has a very small dwindling community and this current update isn't doing anything to keep that community around..
The current "activision path" CCP is taking is spitting on the shoes of everyone in the community, new and especially vet players who have already invested tons of time and money into Dust before Rattati and his team of pirates took over.. |

Legion's never coming out.
But seriously, how did you not realized they were doing exactly this when they announced a promotional sale 2 days before they announced that they were working on legion and then had nothing to say about dust?
They've been milking the remaining player base for as long as they can, and I for one think it's hilarious people are starting to catch on. |
