CCPMidas: Fear not little toady I have devised a NEW scheme to get zee players to buy zee aurum! I call it zee warbarge. Players can upgrade their warbarges to do mostly pointless things, but zomevhere down the line we promise them something useful, but don't tell them where, or tell them exactly how manzy upgrades it will take. HAVE to spend money? HAVE to? There was no other way for him to obtain what he purchased for AUR? None at all? Or does he just want instant gratification and had buyers remorse?

**** go try out Warframe and you'll understand what an expensive Cash Shop looks like. I think monetization is quickly becoming the driving force behind all of Dust 514's new "features", but I will agree that some other games are doing monetization incorrectly. Warframe is probably one of them.
Having said that, just because one company is doing it way way way wrong, doesn't give CCP permission to do it kind-of wrong.

I guess I don't see how people feel forced to purchase AUR. Yeah there are ads, but so what? We see ads constantly in our everyday lives, and sure they're annoying but it's really not that big of deal. In what instance are you forced to purchase AUR in Dust to make use of its features?

I wonder if anyone has put together the time waiting on components versus the aurum it takes to fully upgrade.
Then we can have how much time is worth in aurum.
Then we can put that up against the ISK conversion.
Then we can start charging for our mercenary services by the hour.

A good invest of AUR it's buying boosters or Apex, a BPO. buying Keys or expendable weapons-suits are bad invest.
Maybe I could spend another 20... or 25 (veterans pack) but no more.

I actually like it because it reminds me to reup my passive booster. Perhaps a setting that allows players to turn off AUR-based notifications? Because I'd hate to have it removed because I find that feature useful, but I can understand why people would want to turn it off.

My only main issue with the war barges that components can only be earned through passive production via the facility and then through direct Aurum purchases, which means that we have yet another feature that isn't directly impacted by us, the players, actuall playing the bloody game.
Now, if components could be armed through salvage rewards, or even better yet, constructed by melting down certain types or tiers of assets into "goo" that can then be reconstructed into components, then we have a feature that will make me play the game more, because I'm scavenging crap for my crap war age in an effort to make it less crap. It's not rocket/war barge science, folks.

A good idea. A setting would be nice. Something like NeoComm Aurum alerts or whatever.
These (!) just rub it in your face that you have however many hundred/thousand strongboxes that you'll never have keys too and can't sell unless you spend a ridiculous amount of aurum on them for something most would agree are not worth it. You can't even sell/destroy the strongboxes.
Edit: i think it's the fact that there is an alert for something that will never go away, every player will ALWAYS have this alert. That's just stupid.

yeah but to unlock the experimental lab you have to spend so much aurum. or wait for a very long time not only for the cooldown but also wait for enough components. I am very disappointed with ccp that they decided to take this route of locking content behind a timewall. If i want to wait in order to enjoy a part of the game which is the experimental lab, id go play star trek trexels.

Dust 514 have 1 plataform: PS3

I am not complaining about them monetizing the game, I am complaining about them doing it stupidly. BPO's, Respects, and SP boosters are pretty much the only things worth buying in the game.
FW boosters could be one of the biggest money makers.
Team deploy and real faction stuff (proto < faction < officer) would be one of the things that would keep veterans buying boosters and spending AUR.
Pre Rattati CCP had some escapees from North Korean prison camps in charge of monetization and now it seems like some blend of Candy Crush and a used car salesman in charge

Psssst you're not paying attention to the entire conversation.
The idea would be to offer a monthly package in addition to the existing system, where the items in the package totaled to be worth month then cost of the monthly fee. It would allow players who are dedicated to playing the game a lot to get a discount on the items they use frequently such as boosters.

There was no other way for him to obtain what he purchased for AUR? None at all? Or does he just want instant gratification and had buyers remorse? **** go try out Warframe and you'll understand what an expensive Cash Shop looks like.
Hehehe yeah I am a sucker for convenience..... then immediately suffer the whole..... I could have done that properly and had a reason to play the game......

I believe all you are doing is exercising some basic self-restraint. Sounds like it is too difficult for some.

Warlords 1.0 has been prety much tailored exclusivly for player trading... without the ability to trade to other players. CCP have been pretty smart about it, everyone runs out and buys 100s of keys fo rquafe BPOs, they don't get the ones they want so sit hoping for player trading to come in in order toexchange the one they have for the one they want. in the mean time they think ooh what the hell, i'll buy more keys, least i can just trade em off if i get lucky again.
then april comes and no player trading, then sugust comes and no player trading, then december comes and no player trading but folk still keep buying keys to trade them BPOs all the while player tradign is kept liek a carrot in front of the donkeys (us) noses and CCP gets lots of pennies to spend on other projects that never see the light of day

Zey may only upgrade very slowly unless they buy componets for zee aurum.
CCPToady: Oh zou mean like one of those sthupid phone games?

The majoriy of players don' t mind devs making money. Plenty of people buy boosters and BPO suits. There weill always be minority of players that feel entitled to have everything for free. But with the strongboxes and Warbarges, they have a point.
The Strongboxes: Purely a lottery. I know rattati thinks extra rare drops are cool, but these arent soley rare drops, these are lottery tickets. A rare strongbox that offered somehing great would incentivise me much more towards buying keys than having 1000 strongboxes containing 90% crap. Somebody in charge thought 800 aur keys should give out entry level skillbooks.
Warbarges: Grindfest. No wonder Jadek came up with selling components. I don't mind that they take some time to build up. But that time is far too long without spending a lot of aurum on it.
I'm buying a merc pack today, so i'm putting my money where my mouth is. None of the aur will be spent on eiher the warbarge or keys. Its just not worth it.
Redline for Thee, but no Redline for Me.
