Nope. There just happen to be awkward pauses and me and other people try to speak at the same time after those pauses. It is very hard to avoid with people you dont know the rhythm of.

Could have been a 15min video if the awkward silence was cut out.
It's so surreal i was speaking with dust user when that mass attack happen last night.
Cool interview.
Thank you. I am not about to go back and try to cut out all pauses. That would take forever. They are definitely present in some interviews more than others.

Audio is definitely screwed up. More problems than just long pauses. Maybe rendering error?

Well, I was a little disappointed that the question I gave you seems to have gotten lost on your desk (about how the addition of SAM-MIK's A team helped ML - and to what degree - in the month after FF2014 during ERA's attempt to re-establish in MH).
None-the-less, the camera shy ML director D Pizzle was fairly instrumental in leading that exodus from SAM-MIK to ML and put an end to our meager PC attempts of the day. FF2014 really put a dent in our activity, but when the majority of our active members went to ML, our corp pretty much died Dust-side. We are still in Tso's, but only because of an EVE presence.
Back to the interview, I was disappointed to not see more seasoned and vocal ML veterans like Thor or Leadfoot on the panel. (Although maybe that's why they weren't there......)
I think that if you are going to ask "calendar" related questions, you should make some notes from evemaps or something so you have the answers ready and can prompt when necessary. It appears that most players have a pretty short memory of historical events, especially when they're engaged in heavy PC battles daily. Truthfully, though, I'm starting to find that re-hashing of "events leading to now" to be a little underwhelming, largely because no two versions match.
Regardless of whether or not there were audio or rendering issues, the pace of this recording did not lend itself to easy listening.
It might take the surprise element away, but perhaps you should consider providing your list of questions to the folks ahead of time? You can always hold back a handful of "gotcha" questions to fill in as opportunity permits.
A final comment would be a suggestion to leave your corp loyalty at the door during these pieces. You need to become Silverwind the objective interviewer and stay away from being Silverwind the guy from Cap Acq asking a few questions (and getting a bit defensive is someone says something about your corp). |

I have no idea how that happened. I have tried to see if there is some way I can fix it, but I was unsuccessful. I will give it another shot tomorrow. If I am unable to fix it, I apologize to Molon Labe, especially those in the interview, and all of my viewers out there. Under those circumstances, I would be more than happy to redo the interview. If you dont want to, I completely understand. I apologize once again.

I am so about to start a permanent corp or change our clan's name to Grims or Silver Bullets over Hours in honor of the game. The ill thing about it is players in new games won't have a clue of the origin or what it means. Only the privileged will understand.

Hi, Vlad! I'll give you my take on your question, for what it's worth:
The addition of SAM-MK was huge for ML PC efforts. First, you have to understand that just before the SAM-MK guys came over, we had lost a lot of experienced PC players. Players many of you know -- Fusion, Unique, Code Grey, and others -- guys who had been with us for a long time. Beyond that, we had also experienced an amicable but failed experiment where Kardia came in to try and revitalize or PC efforts. So, when Pizzle and the rest of the SAM-MK guys came over, it was a huge shot in the arm for us and they filled a void on the competitive side of our corp. We instantly had a group of guys that became our city squad -- the vanguard of any competitive team -- that were all familiar with each other. Vong, Cornelius, Kaze, Pizzle, Cali, and others were solid, experienced PC players and they instantly filled a void in our team. Pizzle also has a very good strategic head on his soldiers, and occasionally even FCs, so he quickly became a key member of our strategy team, along with his squad leadership role.
On a related note, you may also be aware we also merged with Ultramarines. E-Rock and the guys have a very similar story to SAM-MK, and they similarly made a huge impact on our corp and our PC efforts.
On a more personal note, the SAM-MK (and Ultramarine) guys are a great group of guys -- fun to PC, pub, or just hang out with. ML owes these guys a lot for their efforts, and I consider all of them personal friends.
Although I've not heard anything directly, I would think that some of the guys who didn't come over might feel badly over the way things went down -- and I read a little of that (perhaps mistakenly) in your questions. I can't really address that other than to say you all are welcome in ML. We've always been inclusive in our membership -- we have no corporate entry requirements and we rarely kick or ban people unless you do something really bad, and even then we often give people second, third, or even fourth chances. |

Answers to my questions.
Thanks Leadfoot. I appreciate your candor.
I was unaware, prior to this interview, that umc had mostly merged into ML at about the same time. Is that corp pretty much gone now as well?
Anyways, glad to hear our guys were able to successfully bolster your PC teams. Hopefully they found what they were looking for.
I have another question for you: ML continues to actively recruit (at least with periodic bumps of the recruiting thread in the recruitment section) and evemaps shows total membership to be in the 670 range. Are those players active? How many of those are actively participating in PC?
I know you don't have stringent requirements for joining (have a MIC, don't be a jacka$$) so I imagine you have a lot of not-ready-for-PC players. Still, I'm curious about that.
With the PC regimen, it almost seems like you'd want to have an "A" team for every district you hold. Unless, of course, you hire mercs from outside your corp. Or, I suppose, use alliance members too.
Anyways, thanks again. Appreciate it.

You're welcome -- I try to call them like I see them. :)
In the order you ask....
Yes, UMC is pretty much gone. I think there are a few players still there (despite emails telling them to leave) that E-Rock is making a small fortune off of as their exorbitant tax rate hasn't yet driven them away. lol
Most of our players are active, and we go through our membership occasionally and drop players who are no longer playing in order to stay under the maximum. But as you might expect with a population so large, we do have a number of players that lose interest or otherwise move on from the game. it's an ongoing process.
Yes, we have lots of not-ready-for (or not-interested-in) PC players. Our first goal in ML has always been to have fun. Competition is important, but secondary to this goal. We have players near the top of the leaderboards, and we have players that have just started playing, and everywhere in between. For those players interested in competition, but for one reason or another aren't ready yet, we have many PCs that we use as training PCs, and reserve most defenses for our more experienced teammates and alliance mates.
As for the new regimen -- it does appear as if your observations are accurate, and we will need multiple teams to keep our districts under our control, but I think it's a bit too early to tell exactly how it will play out.
Hawkin and our leadership are active in alliance, and we don't hesitate to use players from other corps if the situation calls for it. Let's face it -- we're an easy target, and we always have been. The more competitive teams love to pick on us, and we have to take it in stride. It's really a credit to Hawk and our leaders and players that we've had as long and as good of a run as we have. We've had a LOT of talent come through ML, and we've also lost a lot of talent too -- yet here we still stand. To this end, I don't think Hawk gets nearly the credit he should in this regard. He does an amazing amount of work for the good of our players and alliance (and Dust itself) and has held us together through thick and thin over the past few years and all of us owe him a lot for creating a place where we can come and play with our friends and compete a bit.
Hope this answers the rest, but if not, keep 'em coming..... |

I'd guess we have less than 150 active players.
Immediately after FF a lot of people quit and some just lost interest. We clean out some of the inactives we don't remember, but it seems silly to remove someone that might pick the game back up. If they come back in an NPC corp without a clue of all the changes they may just turn back around and quit again.
