I'm certainly the last of elitist, nor i'm the one who wants to deny new players rights or stuff. But still i don't understand how a new player can be a warlord, i know i'm not the only one who think this is weird.
Maybe is just the word itself, but this whole new concept, both role wise and lore wise it's weird for me.

If you ask me i think they should've limited the warbarge to corporations and made it so that the warbarge provided bonuses for all of its members. It doesn't make sense for every merc to have a warbarge. Plus not all of us have districts...especially new players.

Considering how much power immortals have compared to mortals it's not a stretch to think we could overpower a mortal mercenary group and take thier ship.
Could have also been given by the four races to keep us docile.
But yeah strange

It's pointless because when everyone is a warlord no one is.
The best thing about the old concept of Dust was that you used to be "just another grubby soldier" fighting in wars bigger than you.

That depends. One person taking on a hundred or so mortals? I doubt even we could kill them all without dying half a dozen times.
I'm pretty sure in various forms CCP have established that mortals are very capable of killing immortal mercenaries. There are a few Chronicles, Templar One, and accounts from Caldari Prime that talk about mortal soldiers racking up incredibly large kill counts against us.
All we have going for us is a slight technological edge, a gun that would kill a normal human to use, and multiple attempts at life.

I'm still of the opinion that we are not all warlords, that it's mainly just a name and to a lesser extent heralding the dawn of the "warlords" as in PC corp officer functions to come that will be based on the upcoming warbarges.
*shrugs*
As for us all owning a warbarge, hardly a stretch considering how many EVE players (as in all of them) own literally an armada of ships.

It is something like EVE capsuleers. Even at the outset of logging into the game, you are essentially a near-immortal god compared to the mundane normal people who fly and crew NPC ships. Even with your started ISK self, you're fabulously wealthy, etc. etc. etc.
Something like that, probably.

A few things:
1. It is just a name. We weren't really uprising during Uprising. It was all background lore stuff.
2. We all have our own little barge. That makes us a Warlord amongst the sheep.
3. Who is to say that we are all warlords? Maybe you can head canon it that those that are just joining may have a clunker of a ship akin to The African Queen while the 'real warlords' are those that are massively powerful.
4. Immortal mercenaries are capable of doing things that are far beyond the capability of normal soldiers. While it would be taking it from another game, there really should have been weak sauce AI enemies like Titanfall. Think that level of power. We have using Dropsuits, Equipment, Weapons that would instantly kill any normal person. Hell, Drop Uplinks are a death sentence for anyone that goes through it essentially giving you super cancer that kills you in a few hours. Not a big deal to us but for a normal soldier, they are impossible to use. Even our clones are reinforced to run faster, long, hit harder, and be more durable than anything that could exist naturally. We are all bad asses, even the new player, compared to true grunts.
5. It is just a name.
Seriously, you can head canon any of it.

Awake now: I'd imagine we'd either had to have stolen them from the likes of large pirates, such as the cartel, this would require no lack of forces. Perhaps the battles we've been fighting is where they came from as we see ships built in some maps, we fight for or against factions regularly. Like I said they could also be given by the four races if you show loyalty, can't imagine I'd cost them much to supply the hull.
All in all it makes little sense in the long run, then again we may just be over thinking it and it was just flavor text.

Think of it like this-You are in a squad or some merc says he has calculated which warbarge is the best to steal. After you guys have successfully pulled off the hiest, you use that Warbarge on another Warbarge. You than pay a group of trust-able mercenaries to temporary pilot the other warbarges and say you will also get them one. You do and before you know it everyone has a warbarge. Don't think of it like you took it solo(which I totally could)think of it like you squad up to steal it and work to steal other warbarges tofether until you all had one.
Or it was given to you because you did something great and someone thanked you by letting you have a warbarge.
The first one makes sense if your a professional The second one is that you are creating a hero(noob)who had it given to him.

Well? Problem being that a ship of that size would be owned by either pirates like blood raiders or empires like Gallente. There wouldn't be any 'quick steal' as it would have around the clock guard (I'd think 100-200 mortal mercs) and even if you could what's stopping them from sicking a cruiser on you?
True is right, the more I think about it the more my head starts throbbing.

That would be so awesome and would make the game much more interesting and better. Like i said, they should have just kept it as a buyable asset for corporations. They could replace the personal player warbarge system in Warlords 1.0 with something like "Warbarge support" from the NPC corps that contract them in public and factional matches. Then when it comes to player made corps make them an accesible space as displayed in the video. Or better yet, every player gets access to warbarge support as it is, but then when you join a corp the corporation warbarge supplies every member with its bonuses and then some extra things such as a corp armory etc.

If the empire shoots your warbarge down, chances are you'll not work for them. If they did this a lot, then nobody would work for them. The empires and big corps are happy that you get warbarges for the most part because it means you'll be more effective at your job. Plus, shooting it down if it was stolen would end up costing them money, and to not destroy it and only get it back would require lots of effort in planning and resource allocation to execute the mission to steal back the barge.
We immortal mercs are also scary because we won't die, we'll just spawn in a new clone and steal another. Once one was stolen, and its power was demonstrated, many mercs stole their own in a period of time known as the Ascension (gotta make a lore now, I like where I'm taking this)
TL;DR: Too much effort to get the stolen warbarge back from an immortal.

Just the concept of everyone owning a barge is an odd game mechanic. I thought is was going to be corp wide. The effect is that the warbarge screen represents the players connection to a barge but, it is presented instead as the player literally owning a barge.
While we're at it, can I own a titan in EVE? I don't mean the actual ship but, a virtual, 2D version that I can upgrade for points and rewards?

While we're at it, can I own a titan in EVE? I don't mean the actual ship but, a virtual, 2D version that I can upgrade for points and rewards? I found a document from 2012 on reddit that listed all supercap (Titan & Mothership) pilots who had ever been on a kill mail as far back as they could find, all API verified. There were over 3500 unique supercarrier pilots and over 1100 unique Titan pilots. This was 3 years ago. Dreads, carriers, freighters, jump freighters and capital industrial ships are much more common. based on further maths done I estimated that our warbarges would only need to be 3-5million m3 for all of the crazy things we use them for, this is 1/3rd to 1/2 the size of the smallest and most common of those and still only 1/5th to 1/3rd the size of the smallest freighters and carriers.
I'm not entirely certain of the scale of the warbarges depicted, but they certainly aren't super capital territory.

Maybe is just the word itself, but this whole new concept, both role wise and lore wise it's weird for me. It's pointless because when everyone is a warlord no one is. The best thing about the old concept of Dust was that you used to be "just another grubby soldier" fighting in wars bigger than you.
Lore-wise, considering that there are in excess of 6,500 solar systems, 60,000+ planets... God knows how many POSes, Deadspace Complexes, Warpgates, Stations and any little perceivable thing that a human being could potential exist on at any given time in the massive scale of an ENTIRE GALAXY...
I really don't think it's much to insinuate that 250,000 (at most) immortal mercenaries up and declared themselves warlords when they each have single-handedly both killed and died the equivalent of some countrys' entire armies.
Warlords in the traditional sense? Probably not. But warlords none the less.
There is a part of me that genuinely hopes Dust 514 fails at times.

Aeon gets it too. From Wikipedia:
"Warlordism is usually connected to various mercenary companies and their chieftains, which often were de facto power-holders in the areas where they resided. Such free companies would arise in a situation when the recognized central power had collapsed"
A player owning districts, planets and systems, is the definition of a Warlord.

... hmm, GURPS or FATE? Or Coda maybe??? ... hmmm
I love the concept.
1st) The warbarge doesnt seem to be the ultimate power tool, its just a spaceship getting us from A to B. The Dust is where we shine.
2nd) Why wouldnt a practically immortal and since some years independent agent be able to get a decent spaceship? I agree that some ISK-vestment should be required ... about 2-5 mio max, maybe ... but how much is a basic frigate in EVE? some 100k? The scale of the warbarge seems to be a bit beyond destroyer size, judging from the "window" and "docking bay" looking greebles. I imagine its purpose is like the viking dragon boats. You can move armies with these, you just need many of them, but it is in no way a space superiority vessel. The aquisition of a small individual transport ship seems to be well within the mindset of a freedom seeking freelancer mercenary too.
Definition of Barge
3rd) Its awesome and awesome is always right.
I will call mine "the raven that refused to sing" (because I love my Raven in EVE, most beautiful ship ever. And I am listening to Steve Wilson right now...)

All it takes to be a warlord is a gun, the knowledge of how to use it, a few buddies, and a patch of space where no one local can stop you.
A rank newbie in DUST aspires to become one of the faceless nightmares locked into power armor and wielding weapons that cannot be employed in population centers because the mere act of pulling the trigger can result in a heat bloom that would incinerate any bystanders in a 20m radius.
Even a raw cloned soldier with a makeshift warship is a threat to a valklear, templar or even kameiras regiment.
He is well armed, well armored, has no fear of death and commands the ability to deploy some of the most lethal technology known to New Eden.
He commands a support crew whose sole purpose is to deliver him to the place where people will die.
Capsuleers are often referred to as immortal demigods in new eden. The new demigods are seemingly children of the very gods of war once worshipped in forgotten times.
Regardless if he commands no other infantry a single cloned mercenary can rule a batylefield. The only place he can be put in check is by his peers.
This makes him a warlord.
And there's nothing most regular civilians or even soldiers in New Eden can do to halt him for long.
And in molden heath, the demigods rule in the stead of traditional district governments, carving kingdoms out of the ashes.
And New Eden watches, wringing their hands waiting for the mercs to realize there's more than just Molden Heath. There's all of lowsec contested zones. There's the untapped worlds in nullsec.
And most terrifyingly, the worlds of high security empire space are ripe for bleeding. CONCORD is set up to deal with capsuleers in space, guarding hisec.
They really never saw a need to build a force to protect the ground side.

As a sidenote, we still die from the uplink thing. Just that we expire in combat faster than the super cancer can get us, so whatever lol
