It's not that we want to buy it directly on the market, it's just we want some guarantee that we're not going to get caught in a long run of bad-luck that requires EXTRAORDINARY amounts of money to find even a single BPO/BPC, let alone the one we're shooting for. Another factor is that BPO's being in strongboxes insinuate that there's a chance we'll get more than one, which is unnecessary. There's also the factor of the strongbox/key ratio just from playing the game - it's incredibly one sided. I've got 75+ just chilling in storage and I haven't really played the game in two weeks. The game hands these things out like candy but we're expected to get keys through daily missions (which is skewed as well because they sometimes are only reward for the Savant daily mission, which requires you to spend aurum for the instant boost...) Everyone hates strongboxes in their current form. They're given out far too freely and -EXPENSIVE- as hell to open at the rate they're given out. It's the fact that we have to not only play the game, but are basically forced to spend exorbitant amounts of money for a -chance- to get the thing we want. Make sense? Why do you want guaranteed, better looking, not even more powerful gear? I know a few WoW raiders that have the same issue except that their gear is actually better, and they have no guarantees. "Forced" is a very weird word in this circumstance.
I think what Aeon is saying is to significantly reduce the drop rate of strongboxes and improve the likelyhood of getting really good stuff in them.

If you want 'custom' paint... make it only for ISK version of items (not BPO) 
... maybe only for proto.
This give you nice income when you kill all 'flashy' dropsuit.

Yeah, I'd be cool with that.
Or a trading system that I can offload the stuff I don't care for in exchange for the stuff I do care for.
Or just being able to buy it outright.
I mean, this just feels like I have to play black jack for a blazer. If I lose, I have to wait until next payday. If I win, I might get a vest... or I could get a hoody... or a trench coat... Or maybe, just maybe, I could get my blazer.
Sniper range nerf did nothing but make it harder to counter-snipe redliners. That and open up for really stupid feedback

Umm, more realistically:
1) I hate strongboxes because it is like gambling. Strongboxes are too common, keys too rare: annoying.
2) Adds amazing stuff to strongboxes
3) Why do I have to deal with annoying strongboxes to basically gamble in order to maybe get "amazing stuff?" Why can't I just pay you directly for a specific item (BPO or whatever)?
Yeah. The people saying your 1&3 are two separate people. In the case that there is an individual simultaneously saying your 1&3, they are... dumb. Don't pay them any heed.
Anyway, I'd actually pay you money for some of that "amazing stuff" if strongboxes were not involved. I am not alone in that.

its nice to be able to get the chance to 'win' one of the BPOs out of strongboxes but other methods are also appreciated for those that may not like to gamble, especially on methods liek the strongbox where many people have had severely negative experiences with them. as i said in my previous post if the items were limited to special items instead of havign regular AUR items then players would feel less ripped off.
as for alternate means then again why not have the faction BPOs included with LP store, perhaps 50,000LPs and 50m ISK, the 'Quafe' items just have them in the visual customization area for regular AUR prices for people who may not like gambling and just simply rather spend more money on the quick way than risk havign to spend less, equal or evenm more on keys and not even get the BPO they desire. especially since trading has been pushed back, a pretty odd idea seeing as everythign in this patch is geared towards exchanges between the players

I think you entirely missed the point of this thread.
Lion was worrying that there would be HAV and DS BPOs, leading to free HAV spam/suicide DSs/other issues. Of course you're only releasing BPCs for these vehicles, so this thread is kind of pointless.
We're not complaining about getting free AUR gear, he was just worried about the consequences of free HAVs/DSs.
On a related note, can you please buff the HAVs to proto level (and the dropship, should that happen)? Unless were getting like 50 per box, I don't see anyone using them due to rarity, so making them higher tiered will give more incentive to use them while also giving more satisfaction in killing them.
