Actually OP I thought that DUST 514 was dead last fanfest and as such have been eagerly anticipating Legion.
I could be wrong but it looks as if Legion is either not a 'thing' any more or is still a very long way away if it ever does materialise. So personally I am petty happy with what CCP are doing.
Yes its only minor stuff but there are a few good fixes in there such as "not being put in battles about to end". As a Vet player, this is a huge thing it really is.
So overall I am actually looking forwards to trying out Warlords in Feb. I am still very very confused however with what is going on in CCP`s minds about DUST / Legion.
I am also surprised that they are not doing much of a presentation for either DUST or Legion at this years fanfest. (Considering the ongoing DUST development)

CCP, GET IT THROUGH YOUR HEAD. YOU HAVE AMAZING CONTENT, AWESOME CONCEPTS. BUT YOUR GAME RUNS LIKE SH!T.
FIX THE GAME.
The content additions and quality of life improvements are awesome... But it will all be wasted by the pure utter player rage that happens on a minute basis when a player actually tries to play your game with any consistency...
The game can't keep upto the average player.
This 1000 times. Framerate, lag, "feeling"... just bring that framerate from 2-17 to a stable 30 and I'd be freaking happy. I swear, I'd call back anyone just to play it.

I was thinking the same thing after my hype calmed down after not seeing an update after so long. We're get stuff that gives us stuff we already have(ISK,SP ect) and gear that's under a different color/name which is nice if your a collector but where's the beef?
Unless we can invade someone's warbarge in first-person and fight it out in there or get a new mode that works, I cant see any new players coming to stay and play for long before going off to do other games when they are already invested in those, it just isn't likely. The fact that CCP is giving all this SP bonus stuff for new players just screams how how flawed the game actually is for new players to get into because of the SP slope they need to climb.
Bottom line: CCP you cant fix somethings by just throwing ISK and SP at it. |

Well, considering you can't invade a warbarge that isn't there, this is a step in the right direction.
Dust can have a lot going for it once it gives vets a place to play other than proto stomping in pubs, and improving upon the NPE.
That doesn't mean its a certainty or even a probability it will be around for some time to come, as long as they make improvements they give themselves room to do something more in the future.

CCP Rattati is all but one man. What I wouldn't give for a clone of him. Of course Warlords is not going to stack against Chromosome/Uprising 1.0; thats like asking for 3 Rattati (Rattatium? Rattaties?) at least. The plural is Rattati
Proof that Ratatti is a moiety of multiple entities who traveled back in time prior to the closing of the gate to train earthen people to become immortals soldiers, as the genetic code of the population of eve is to warped to withstand the ancient immortal soldier technology.

Underwhelmed by the fact that there's not a single fix mentioning game performance or hit detection. These issues are still core issues to the game and the main reason I don't play.
I'll drop in to see if the game feels any different, but I doubt it will. Just seems like they're adding more spreadsheets whilst going "Look at all the new content!"
Hardly. The warbarge thing is going to (barely) help new players and just another spreadsheet to the rest of us, the BPO and Aurum dropsuit stuff is more fluff for people to buy. The core of the game is still the same laggy mess. No new game modes, no new gameplay, no new maps or even fixes to awful lag in existing maps, nothing about the core game is changing. We get a new screen that says "Here's some free ISK, SP, and some other marginally useful crap, now go buy more Aurum!".
CCP, plee. If framerates were consistently 30+ this game would be amazing. Sadly, it's not. Until then, the same issues will plague the game. You'll never succeed to a broader market if the core of the game still feels like crap. I'm sure you have your whales (note: financial whales) sustaining you with Aurum purchases, but the vast majority of players still complain about lag, performance, hit detection, shoddy movement, and the like.

Vell0cet wrote:It's impressive how much they've been able to accomplish with such limited resources.
Having said that, it does feel like the game is moving tangental to where it should be instead of progressing forward. I personally feel all of the effort that went into designing a crafting system for DUST was wasted. EVE has the richest virtual economy of any game ever made. Instead of working towards integrating into that, we now have hundreds? of developer hours squandered building a very shallow and uninteresting crafting system. I personally don't think crafting fits well in an FPS--especially with so many important pieces missing from gameplay: 1. Full racial parity in vehicles, turrets, and heavy weapons 2. pilot suits 3. vehicle capacitors and a rich ewar system like EVE (e.g. webs, neuts, target painters, tracking disruptors, etc.) 4. equipment like shield reppers, and modules like resistance plating. 5. an awesome NPE
It would have made more sense to work on these than building a crafting system. We've been told that CCP doesn't have the resources to do any of this, but then apparently they do have the resources to build an entire crafting/warbarge mechanic. I get that they need to monetize DUST or the servers get switched off, but I honestly think they'll get more money if they radically improve the NPE, focus on making battles rich and engaging, and then possibly do some small-scale marketing (via blogs and review sites/youtubers).
I"m not opposed to the content itself, but the prioritization is really ridiculous. I'm confident that I could easily list 100 things that would be much more important to the game than adding this stuff.
+1 Ccp should trust that players would be interested in investing time/money into the game if they flushed out some old, but good ideas. As for advertising their game, dust only has 1 youtube video on ccp's channel from 2013 and they got rid of saberwing who was going to make video content from the shanghai studio. Fanfest is only going to have a round table for dust/legion so I just feel like ccp is simply too ashamed to even get people excited about what's to come.

Rattati and his team are putting a lot of hard work into the updates and it is appreciated I'm sure...
But, warlords does not seem like the next major build of Dust 514. It is the same thing as Uprising. It looks just like a regular update patch/hotfix for Uprising (1.11 if you will?).
Adding more content and re-working existing aspects of the game is all well and good. But what this game needs is some serious work on its basic nuts-and-bolts mechanics.
Fix stuff! Make it perform better, clean up the buggy code, work on the gameplay mechanics. That kind of stuff won't add any shiny new bells and whistles like the recent updates, but the game will be immeasurably and objectively better for it.
Having said that, I haven't played in 4-5 months (PS3 broke). But I want to!

Not all underwhelmed. Perhaps not as huge an overhaul as Chromosome --> Uprising 1.0, but it is as big and sexy as any update we've seen since. Considering the fact that we were life support not that long ago, I'm nothing short of excited. And we've only seen the very start of it. Further, Warlords will have Uprising beat in that it'll lack that certain "one suit, one gun" feel Uprising left us with clear through it's sixth update, when we got pick from four Fine Rifles rather than one. Warlords is entirely eye-candy and more paid content with no improvement to any of the gameplay mechanics that actually matter. Uprising is entirely eye-candy and more paid content with no improvement to any of the gameplay mechanics that actually matter. E3 is entirely eye-candy and more paid content with no improvement to any of the gameplay mechanics that actually matter. Codex is entirely eye-candy and more paid content with no improvement to any of the gameplay mechanics that actually matter. Chromosome is entirely eye-candy and more paid content with no improvement to any of the gameplay mechanics that actually matter. Uprising is entirely eye-candy and more paid content with no improvement to any of the gameplay mechanics that actually matter. Edit Replication is entirely eye-candy and more paid content with no improvement to any of the gameplay mechanics that actually matter. Dark Below is entirely eye-candy and more paid content with no improvement to any of the gameplay mechanics that actually matter. :P
You know, you're actually right. I wonder if you were going for irony.
KDR matchmaking would patch all the patches into pure patchitudity.
