Just a routine matchmaking whine thread.
Actually just had my team farmed in domination. They put uplinks just outside the letter and faked a push the whole time. What made this most obvious is the fact that they scanned our one tiny cluster of links repeatedly yet never put an OB on them.

I've had a few good solo games recently (probably tuesday) but yeah you are right haha
Can't see how this game can ever appeal to solo players like myself.

Amen to that. Luckily I have all 5 Imperial BPOs with all of them maxed out so I can just go troll face in those.Nothing helps when its you against a 12 man wolf pack, better to just drop some uplinks and spam deaths to try to screw up your MU and get on the winning side next time.
Its really kind of funny how well this demonstrates CCPs backwards thinking. All this time balancing weapons and adding all militia variants only to make matchmaking ensure that 9 out of 10 matches are predecided and newbies will never be around long enough to try out the militia stuff.

I'm a solo player and I have to say that going in alone isn't as bad as what many make it out to be. Sure, I have roughly 30k+ deaths and yes, there will always be bad match ups, but I'm not one who is looking for an easy time when playing. I enjoy the challenge and appreciate all the BS tactics thrown out by protostomping corps. It keeps me on my toes and allows me to devise ways to put up a fight, even whilst redlined and when it seems like no one else is trying. |

From my point - when you are high on ranking ... you don't have much choice. You fight with the best always... and this is 'normal' mode. Why you bother when you must from time to time fight with best? At last you can see how much you must to improve.
Happy hunting.

Oh, yours are only drinking paint thinner? I swear the one's I get teamed up with are on bath salts.
When I play solo, which is actually more often than I squad, I'm not worried about winning or losing. I'm worried about inflicting as much monetary damage I can to the other team using my 1K isk blueprint logi suit.
Nothing screams HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA like head-shotting a proto suit with a militia ACR.

The issue is being high ranking should not mean that it is you against 12 - 16 other high ranking people with little to no assistance from your team.

Going solo is always - what I can do against full enemy team with not much help from blue side.
This is hard road ... but when you see your rank after battle at top you know you do well... solo. For me it is most fun that I can get from this game.
This road is not for all, but there are people as me that enjoy it. They don't tell that this game is not playable solo.

This is pretty much the same view I take, you just got to rely on yourself the majority of the time. Ill try and drop links behind the lines and fast hack stuff and generally be a nuisance where possible. Doesnt help when i run solo that i always end up in already started matches or ones that are half way done and im taking over a spot from someone who bailed because not many people like to get there face caved in every match.

Dust is the only game that I can think off that punishes you for trying to have a couple of fun and quick matches before running offto do something else in real life. Why the hell should someone be forced to join or make a sqaud just to play 2 or 3 games? This game and the community is flawed.

More often than not, I run solo (which is reflected in my KDR and W/L). I'd rather have a game where I'm up against tough odds than one where we redline the other team a couple minutes into the match. Your best off running something that is fast, has a bit of range and decent alpha so that you are able to dictate most engagements and finish quickly.

I understand you complaints. There certainly has been a big shift. I enjoy playing solo about 50% of the time but times have changed and so has "matchmaking".
I enjoy the challenge of playing solo (my corpmates are too good) but the biggest change and cause of frustration to me is the pace of matches. Uplnks are rare now making a losing team lose even harder. Most poeple give up after the first redline (often within the first few minutes) leaving the couple fools like me trying to turn things around by ourselves.
The real sad part is that even when my team is all randoms against a qsync i still hold on to hope and try until my mangled clone is getting clam slammed repeatedly...then reality sets in.

It is hard, in the past several days of trying I found one squad last night that I could join. Everyone in it was speaking Spanish, which I do not understand, but hey, they were nice not to kick me and to let me participate.
EDIT: I should add that I only really play Domination and as such those are the squads I look for.
P.S. I have taken to starting my own squad and listing it. I then wait for people to join, something that doesn't seem to happen. I got one guy who randomly joined my squad while I was in a battle, which was nice. Only took about an hour and a half to get that guy into squad. He stayed for three matches. |

Um, scouts tend to do well solo, too. At this point in time, I thought everyone in the Dust Community had at least 1 ADV Scout at this point. 2 ADV Dampeners should be enough for pubs, I think.
Even Assaults have a decent Profile now (they dodge STD Scanners without skills or mods).
Just flank with enough dampeners, and place an uplink or two. That should be good. |

So much this Scanners have done nothing to make the game better. They do when one is NOT using a scout suit and that one would like to see like that same scout but scanners still cant match a fully specked scout so I really don't know what's the problem with you scanner haters .
I went back to playing logistic because it's what I like to do and I try to light up blips for those on my team who can't see , so they don't get blindsided , I get no reward for it because I play Min logi ( all scanners should give intel WP's while Gal obtains more threw their bonus ) but I get to help out those on my team to survive ( hopefully ) so in-turn they can do the same for myself .
The only reason I can think of for the scanner hatred is because that makes it harder for you to blindside others which in-turn should lead one to invest more in that role to be sufficient .
I still can't see everything and what is visible is only for seconds , if you can't tell that your being scanned and in-turn adjust your tactics then it's not the scanner that's the problem .
Edit : I'm always solo scanners are a must .
Doubts are like flies and should be treated as such and crushed .

I could do my thing and still be a benefit to my team because the games were more or less evenly matched. Not that there weren't stomps, but that they were much fewer and further between than now.
Now the games are so miss matched that its pointless to even try. I don't even hold it against redline snipers anymore. I tried still doing something, and I lost over 300k in one match running just a 48K Quaffe outfit.

It's not what many people want to hear, but Dust 514 is very squad-centric. I don't know if Rattati altered team building this way on purpose or not, but it pays it be in a squad now. And I mean, in a big way. I am not sure that Dust 514 is a solo player's game anymore.
It reminds me of Eve Online, in a way. You can solo in Eve, but it is more dangerous, less rewarding, and generally boring. Of course, CCP allows players do it because it is a sandbox game. They don't encourage that type of play though. They want you in fleets together; bullshitting on comms, making friendships, betraying each other, etc. As opposed to mindlessly running missions 24/7 by yourself.

If there wasn't there was still a chance that your randoms were good enough to at least make the game competitive.
Now it seems like squading significantly increases your chance of winning, while running solo dramatically increases your chance of losing which shouldn't be the case as teams should consist of both squaded and unsquaded mercs.

If Dust didn't have such a small player population I would say that we need a deathmatch arena-style gamemode where it's everyone against everyone. Maybe reduce the match size to 16 players total in this game mode. This would encourage solo mercenaries.
And I'm going to bring it up again: we need some form of PvE that can be done in groups or solo. PvE would allow a solo player who just wants a 20 minute reprieve from getting his teeth stomped in to kill some Sansha pirates zombies or something. Then he can jump back into the meat grinder.
Make PvP and PvE connected to one another. Make PvE "contracts" drop from PvP matches at a certain interval. You can't do a PvE mission without one of these contracts. This would keep people from just carebearing in PvE every single day.

Well thenGǪ. I've stayed with Dust since the 5-14 release, so I think I can give a span-of-time perspective. Dust 514 IS playable solo (meaning you are running around the map on your own, trying to win the match without joining /supporting any actions your teammates might be doing). Yes, I said solo IS possible.
But always remember, the devs never designed the game to be played as a flock of solo-ers trying to capture the same flag (like most multiplayer-fps games are). And (hopefully) the devs will never change their intent for Dust to be a true "work-together-to-win" fps. CCP's game DOES allow you to resist the design and "win-by-solo-means", but it's uphill all the way, and I personally believe you have to be an advanced-player to finally achieve the tools and the know-how to do it.
There ARE ways a solo-player can act like a "shepherd" or "door-opener" who paves the way for an aimless team to win a match and not ever realize one player's completely-solo ops made their win possible. But there's so much "re-thinking how you fight in an fps" that you have to orient yourself to when starting Dust, there's no way you'll be able to perfect confident "solo techniques" until you've become well-seasoned.
Often I've been able to shepherd random blues into attacking the right Null at the right time, or herd them into the right defensive/offensive places, that prevents the red team from winning the match. No squading, no joining the team required,GǪ certain tools and good-thinking are often all that's needed.
The Bandwidth change that heavily curbed equipment spamming, has made uplinks (one of the most potent tools for winning the match) far more powerful in combat, and effective almost solely with the players who developed the finer skills of using them.
Scanners HAVE caused confident players who relied on a standard method for beating their enemy, to be pushed back and have to rethink their routines.
Changes like these that stop us in our tracks and re-challenge us DO (believe me) make the game repeatedly better and better. Harder for un-practiced mercs to use, and more difficult to win using our old 10th-century fps methods,GǪ means "a Better game".
Universe of good wishes for the 49, especially CCP Eterne...

This is a prototype-level sig. I worked hard for it, and I'm going to use it every time. So, just get used to it.

I enjoy the challenge and appreciate all the BS tactics thrown out by protostomping corps. It keeps me on my toes and allows me to devise ways to put up a fight, even whilst redlined and when it seems like no one else is trying. Me, I just die a lot.

Shhhh, a lot of these players don't know there's anything else to go do. You'll scar them.

i pretty much solo all the time. on the few occasions i do squad up its more just to talk to friends rather than work as a squad.
it can be horrible and you should be prepared for hate mail from certain squads because you wont just line up to die like the **** heads on your team.

I love running a fast dampened solo slayer fit but recently mercs have been running together more and that makes it tough even for the veteran solo players. I for one just tactically avoid the "hit squad" and kill off the nubs being stupid redberries. Otherwise I highly advise running with a squad. Maybe a smaller squad of 2-3 people. |

That's what I did forever, until recently. You could be gaming with sound for under $15.

Being alone is a lot better than being in a crumby squad. I solo often as logistics. I use a profile dampener. I can get kills and support people who aren't in the middle of an enemy swarm.
Too many squad members ask for support in a stupid place that'll just get all of us killed
Heavies run out into the middle of nowhere. Squads will try to take a point in a skirmish match where the entire enemy team lies.
There are some players with whom I will do better, but usually I'm better off alone.
If this game was fun, I wouldn't be playing it.

I solo all the time, just decide what you want to do and do it. Run links, rep, revive, scout objectives, there's plen5y of ways to solo effectively. Don't expect to win tho.
