Actually just had my team farmed in domination. They put uplinks just outside the letter and faked a push the whole time. What made this most obvious is the fact that they scanned our one tiny cluster of links repeatedly yet never put an OB on them.
Well thenGǪ. I've stayed with Dust since the 5-14 release, so I think I can give a span-of-time perspective. Dust 514 IS playable solo (meaning you are running around the map on your own, trying to win the match without joining /supporting any actions your teammates might be doing). Yes, I said solo IS possible.
But always remember, the devs never designed the game to be played as a flock of solo-ers trying to capture the same flag (like most multiplayer-fps games are). And (hopefully) the devs will never change their intent for Dust to be a true "work-together-to-win" fps. CCP's game DOES allow you to resist the design and "win-by-solo-means", but it's uphill all the way, and I personally believe you have to be an advanced-player to finally achieve the tools and the know-how to do it.
There ARE ways a solo-player can act like a "shepherd" or "door-opener" who paves the way for an aimless team to win a match and not ever realize one player's completely-solo ops made their win possible. But there's so much "re-thinking how you fight in an fps" that you have to orient yourself to when starting Dust, there's no way you'll be able to perfect confident "solo techniques" until you've become well-seasoned.
Often I've been able to shepherd random blues into attacking the right Null at the right time, or herd them into the right defensive/offensive places, that prevents the red team from winning the match. No squading, no joining the team required,GǪ certain tools and good-thinking are often all that's needed.
The Bandwidth change that heavily curbed equipment spamming, has made uplinks (one of the most potent tools for winning the match) far more powerful in combat, and effective almost solely with the players who developed the finer skills of using them.
Scanners HAVE caused confident players who relied on a standard method for beating their enemy, to be pushed back and have to rethink their routines.
Changes like these that stop us in our tracks and re-challenge us DO (believe me) make the game repeatedly better and better. Harder for un-practiced mercs to use, and more difficult to win using our old 10th-century fps methods,GǪ means "a Better game".
Universe of good wishes for the 49, especially CCP Eterne...
