I have lost 12 dropships to explosions from brushing against the ground.
Usually you can slam pretty hard and survive a hit or 2.
Recently, it seems if you brush against the ground like a feather, instant explode.
I like to fall on top of people and kill them on dropship.
Done this for the past year.
But something is up, barely grazing the ground now and boom.
The straw that broke the camels back was this one.
Called in dropship. Dropship landed slanted because of terrain.
I takeoff and the ship brushes against a tiny little hill, boom.
Not even off the ground. Barely starting to take off, brush the surface, and explode. |

For DS roadkills I ended up using a viper with 2 armor reps. It seems to hold up fairly well.

Something has always been up with Dropships. I haven't flown my ADS for a while til the devs finally figure out how to balance the poop

Mostly due to latency with the server.
If you have a passenger in the dropship when it happens, they would describe the crash differently than you see it.
I played a match where I was in a dogfight and passed over my target while shooting at him, underneath me. My passenger claimed I crashed into them, though we never touched on my client. Both ships went down in flames, though. |
