same problem with Amarr scout, (30mts max range) only works as a Flanker cuz decently low Scan profile (compared to assaults), low slots and massive stamina.
Minnie is still the best hacker and NKfer, but its really specialized.

CAl has DAmpening, Regen (With 50 shield regen per sec) and the best RANGE.

Have you checked Range amplifiers lately? 15% range increase at PROTO level.

You would need 3 PROTO range amplifiers to get the same scan range the cal scout has.

Sure, the passive scanning did take a huge hit, but cal scout is still 100% solid.

It's tough to stay ahead the nerf/buff cycle and the resulting FoTMs. The only way I could do so was to keep a reserve of 5m SP ahead of major drops/updates. That way, when a playstyle emerges as dominant, you have the SP to skill into it instantly. You might consider this as one strategy to help bridge the gap. Or you might just simply stick to one or two roles and enjoy them -- because the gap between the strongest and weakest suits in this game isn't nearly as large as some would have us believe. Certainly not large enough that skill cannot overcome it in the vast majority of public contract battles.

It's easier to speed tank or dampen, which will get you past 2/3rd of the scan rings virtually unnoticed & those mods are more effective on the battlefield than the derped passives we have now. With only 2 lows & very limited ewar options for high slots, gal scouts offer a fuller range of options. Especially so since armor > shields & the bonus to dampening. I used to radar scout (2 comp range amps, 3 precision mods, cloak & active scanner), but can't see the point now in having to stand alone, uncloaked & undampened with no tank, within 20m of a squad of reds just so my passives help my squad. Everything that fit can i can do with my eyes & a mic-leaving me 5 slots to work with. While cal scouts are still ******* awesome (& still my first true love), i can't say they are the best. Have you considered a career in costumed aggression?

It's just hard to run after someone to knife them and not know if you'll be shot in the back

Most maps dont have good snipe spots so move constantly. Starter Fit Suits are OP :-)
