The problem with swarms are the no render ones.
That plus a min commando w/ a swarm launcher means death if you been hit twice. The third ghost is coming to finish the job.
Therefore, no render + damage boost = op for 1000+ invisible damage is completely unacceptable.
Nothing against the swarmers... It's the swarm itself. ^ i believe this is one of the main reasons why we dropships do this "lolAB" thing people claim we do. it's because of the impending death that comes along with ghost swarms. Co-evolution in its finest per se. |

If i ever get caught in a swarm situation while in a python (very rare case for me... I prefer AV with a rail'bus) i fire into the swarms if it renders.
^ which is kinda... Unfair if you think about it.
But we adapt, that's what the ADS pilots gotta keep doing sadly. |

4 shots= 7812 damage total
3 shot=5859 damage 3 shots w/ reload time =8 seconds=2496 repped at 1261 armor 4th shot hits, does 1953 damage, repped 624 armor back which leaves me at 1885 then BAM destroyed

Swarms will always be the preferred weapon of noobs, and will be viciously defended by said players to the bitter end. And, since CCP has pretty much ALWAYS catered to infantry hand and foot, expect nothing but buffs for them.
You cant run armor in this game anymore as a pilot in most cases, the math is just always against you since CCP decided balance = most AV doing massive damage to you. Can you put in work with armor? Of course. But, the second the enemy decides to actually focus on you, your only option is to run, and run, and run some more.

If the problem is the number of people able to run to a supply depot and bring out swarms at the first sign of a HAV could the answer be to limit the number of people that can do that by limiting the number of fits someone can bring to a battle?
You'd still be able to create as many different fits as currently but you'd only be able to select x amount of them before the battle starts. E.g you'd get all the starter fits, any BPO's you'd bought and then, say, 4 other fittings?
Skills or Warbarge upgrades etc would be able to increase the number you could bring. This way not everyone one the battlefield would necessarily have a fit for all seasons and most vehicles, in my experience, can swat off militia swarms as an annoyance rather than a threat. |
