Currently, the #1 reason stomping happens is due to the fact that unorganized players on one side fight a full squad of 6 on comms working together. Proto might be the second reason but lets try to fix the first one.
Back in Chromosome, stomps were never as hard as we have them now partially because the max squad size was 4.
Proposal: Ambush: Squad size max: 2 Domination: Squad size max: 4 Skirmish: Squad size max: 6
PC/FW also has squad size of 6.
I decided to give skirmish a Squad size of 6 solely due to the fact there are a lot of objectives instead of one like in Dom and none in Ambush.
As we all know Nyian Chan or San, what ever they are and other big corps abuse the crap out of Ambush. They come in packs of 6 all wearing proto pretending like it's a PC and completely stomp the crap out of Ambush. Since there is really no objective other than killing in Ambush, I decided to cut the squad size to two.
Domination: I decided to keep this at 4. 4 allows for teamwork and group efforts while still reducing the chance of a proto stomp. It is better to have 4 stompers than 6.

Shhhh Before the stompers that can't play without their squad come here and cry that this is a team based even when in the description of pubs it is said that Pubs are for LONE mercenaries and SMALL squads.
The size limit being 6 really does not make 6 man squads a small squad. On top of that 6 does not divide by 16. Which is the number of players per team.

I'd rather increase the team size to 18, then make seperate ques for people who are solo or have 2 squad members. Then you could use the 18 player cap to fill the other battles with full squads.
That way, people who want to converse and enjoy each-others company are still able to do so, while matches are much more balanced b/c there's nothing but full squads vs. full squads (or solo players vs solo players).
Your solution doesn't solve anything, as those 4 players will still be stomping through PUBs with ease.

Then the proto stomped will q sync. So no point in wasting time on this. CCP just tell every one standard tier gear is meant for pubs, Adv. For factional and proto for PC. The game is like that figure out a way to counter proto. Hmm maybe try peanut butter.

I don't mind the idea... I'd say atleast 4 player squads in ambush would be enough though.

So 8 proto stomping players can go up against 16 unsqauded starter fit players and dominate and feel better about themselves?

I support this idea! It has merit because it would also allow for easier matchmaking. By having smaller squads in the modes where the fighting is very concentrated, big squads broken up into smaller ones would have a better chance of facing eachother. This might not sound ideal, but dont forget that he proposed the changes only to Ambush/Domination, 2 Public contract modes that are supposed to be for casual lone players or small squads. (per the description)

That would just make thing much worse. Besides, its only 2 modes hes proposing. Do you really need 7 people helping you in absolutely every game you play? |

I vote for reduction to team sizes to four. I remember hearing that if they did reduce it to four, they could probably do team syncing for FW as an actual option. Plus that reduces the chances of team stacking. |

4 is perfect for dividing a team into 4 coordinated squads who can work together and accomplish objectives. This also helps newer players too who aren't used to this kind of gameplay. With a squad size of 6 new players tend to split up into 3&3 or they blob up and get in each other's way. And experienced players just run all over them.
2 in ambush is a good idea but splitting squad sizes for different game modes is prolly asking a lot. Stick to 4. It divides the teams up nicely and goes in the direction you are aiming for.
Been thinking about this since Uprising began, unfortunately whenever I brought it up all I got was a clusterfuck of whining and not much else.

Very interesting point. Also I wonder why is it always that you want to limit the more experienced players instead of helping the newer ones? |

Meh I don't like the idea of having different numbers for different games. It would be confusing and annoying for squads that like to switch up game modes. I like the 6 man squads on top, but I wouldn't be devastated by it reverting to 4 man squads again.
I think a much better idea would be to create a separate pub zone for solo mercs, much like cod had. I actually think it would be enormously popular for newbs and veterans alike. Plus then we could see if this Mu thing actually works. |

YES!
I could not agree more with this.
I have suggested something that might be more difficult to code than what you describe, but is meant to solve the same problem. Please have a look here: https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=2523566#post2523566
FPS = First Person Support. Kills win battles but it's kinda hard to kill if you're dead and out of ammo.

Theory crafting OP.
Squad size used to be 4. Everyone hated it. The single most universally asked for and agreed upon change in Dust history (check the old threads for evidence) was the increase to 6. We've tried 4 person and it failed.
One could make an argument for smaller squads in Ambush, but the other game modes being squad nerfed is completely ridiculous.
Moral of the story: Most people like to play with people. |

I approach the problem on the other side and i say squad of 8 can be the best solution.
Pros: More easily squadded against other full squad, bloody battles, play with more friends.
Cons: Possible superstomp, but isn't it already like that?

I have to agree.
I tend to play solo as a general rule, and I dont really see any benefits from going back to 4 man squads.

Sounds good as long as the matchmaker matches those 8 man squads together.
