Hello dust, Well my biggest issue is im haveing problems keeping a bead on moving tagets. Now on most other shooters my aim is pretty great ads and hip fire, but on here my aim is a bit jumpy and un smooth. My hip fire speed is max and my ads is around 85. I play other shooters like cod and battlefield with my turn speed on max |

It's not you. Hit detection in this game is broken, and no matter how much we ask, CCP ignores our pleas for better hit detection. You're hitting them trust me.

Turn the ADS and hipfire down about 10 clicks at a time and try it out on your fav gun.
There is a sweet spot for you an it ain't 100.

Turn the sensitivity all the way down. Dust isn't a twitch shooter like BF.

It's going to take time coming over from games like BF to get accustomed to Dust. I'd recommend just starting out with things like an HMG or a tank, get accustomed to the sensitivity, max that out by the way, and slowly work from there. Swap out weapons every now and then, things that are harder to aim with, eventually moving up to pistols until you're comfortable with all the weapons. It's really just about letting your muscle memory adjust from BF to Dust controls and such more than anything.

Here are some basic tips.
1. For hipfiring Use mostly the left analog stick.
2. When making fine tune adjustments while aiming down sights, use mostly the left analog stick.
Time to kill is high in dust. You use usually have to hit an opponent multiple times to get the kill. Turn speed is not as important as fine control of your aiming.
For what it's worth, I have my sensitivity set to 50 and 25. |

There's a big difference in the aiming feel between CoD and DUST.
First off, in CoD you can push the stick left and you'll accelerate as you turn(meaning, you start out at one turn speed, but end up at a much higher turn speed) DUST has no stick acceleration.
Also, AA is much milder/different.
In CoD you can use only the left stick to walk around a guy at about 20 feet and AA will keep it on target for you. While some people woudl like to complain about how absurd AA is on here, you can't do the same. It's much weaker.
In CoD you also have EXTREME sticky reticule. Your maxed turn speed? If you ever turned right nonstop and had a guy go onscreen, your turn will literally slow to a crawl while your reticule passes over, thus making it even harder for you to miss the enemy.
All in all, turn your sensitivity down. A lot. While you won't be able to pull those 180 instaspins quite as well, you'll be hitting what's in front of you more accurately. I'd recommend starting out at 50/50 hipfire and 40/40 ADS, then adjusting from there.
FYI: My current sensitivities are 80/80 with 70/70 ADS.

You just have to be gentle. I have it on 100/100, and I find it's still very slow in comparison to most games I've been used to. |

it all depends on what weapon your running truly, i keep my hip-fire at 100 and my ads at 45 cause i run the combat rifle most of the time and its a hip-fire weapon but that's how i play everyone has a different play style, just go out an run miltia with different sensitivities until you find a setting you are comfortable with

The whole shooting mechanic in this game is broken, and just 'off'. It has been a common complaint since the first day I visited the forums back in beta and it still is a problem.
Oh yea like others have said if you are like me and are used to playing with incredibly high sensitivity you have two options.
1. Turn down the sensitivity and try and get used to a whole new style of playing (at least that is how it felt to me) you will however find that your aim will be more 'true'.
I didn't like this myself as it felt so so wrong. So I would suggest option 2.
2. Accept that your aim is going to be crappy in this game and roll with it - use your strafing to control your aim more than your actual aim stick. It sounds absurd but using KB/M I find I am having more luck doing this than trying to actually track with my mouse / right analogue stick.

dust aiming is the worst out there.. kinda pathetic they actually balanced the game around poor aiming mechanics.. if dust aiming was like say battlefields it would be completely different nerfs. the only advice i could give would be to go unemployed and smoke a lot of weed. that helped my dust aiming at one time when AR was the only rifle. i was just thinking about this the other night- i realized i was really good at some games out there mainly bad company 2 and GTAO but over playing dust has made me suck at them all. can you imagine if they fixed the aiming to feel like modern? they would have to totally rework all weapons so fixing the aiming would actually cause them a huge balancing issue.

you have to remember that this game has lag and unless your target is standing still their hitbox is a few milliseconds behind the actual character.

What I've learned
- Sensitivity settings affect RIGHT stick adjustments.
- RANGE has a great affect on aiming and sensitivity.
- Low sensitivity is better for long range engagements where tiny adjustments track distant targets
- High sensitivity is better for CQC where you need to turn quickly to track fast moving up close targets
- Learn your weapons and how this affects them. You will probably find one setting that works well for you with all weapons.
- For whatever your settings are at, there is a sweet spot, a perfect range to keep your target at where you can track that target with near perfect ease. Find it.
- Your own physical dexterity, how quick your thumbs move has the greatest effect of all. Slow reaction speed calls for higher sensitivity while quick speed can function with lower.
- Use the tip of your right thumb on the stick for better articulation
- Keep the up/down axis a bit lower than left/right so as to not accidentally aim too high or low when in a shoot out. Most often your opponent is on the same level as you.
- Some days your aim will suck no matter what you do
My settings fluctuate between 65/65 to 75/55

I might have to adjust mine then.
I've been running 100/100 since day one. I still don't feel like I have trouble aiming though. Got quick fingers from learning to snipe in BF3 with no aim assit and maxed sensitivity.

Step 1- buy assault mass driver Step 2- make sure your target is on the screen Step 3- Fire untill target dies.
In all seriousness, i normally play around with sensitivity. i have my ADS Sensitivity really low, so that if the target is at 80 meters i can easily aim and follow them. i have my Standard sensitivity up a bit higher so that in CQC i can turn and engage those pesky scouts quickly.

Kincats dont affect strafe speed. Thats just a popular misconception.

A heavy with kincats can still strafe and outsprint snipers pretty easily once they realize they are being targeted and the sniper did not land a headshot.
