Until the aur price of keys drops sharply and the key drops go up to a reasonable level yeah.
I'm in agreement they're worth little to nothing unless we can sell them for 10k-30k a pop.
EVE Online is what you get when engineers attempt to create "fun" without consulting someone who comprehends the word.

I agree, either remove or give us a way to open them that does not require mindless match salvage or real money. Sorry I am not paying for S***. Port the game over to PS4 and I might spend again. I am losing interest in my PS3 since I got my 4, so I might leave for good if there is no confirm on the port.

Add your name below with a '/signed' and I'll add it to the spreadsheet. CCP: We want our salvage back!
I got 3 thales as regular salvage yesterday, along with a 9k forge gun, and some grenades.
My missions yesterday gave me 500k isk and 34k SP.
My missions today will net me 2 keys, 520k isk and 42k SP.
Not to mention dozens of adv/pro suits, mods and weapons.
The drop rate on the crates are annoying... but I do have a chance at keys thru missions.
Those with bad luck may go days or even weeks with out missions for keys.
I went weeks on end with out officer salvage in pubs in the past... same difference.
Free to play, you don't have to buy anything to play this.
You can now even grind for a BPO suit.

Now I have two markers I can't turn off, my Strongboxes and my Boosters, if I get another I'm going to burn something down...
I despise clutter... They clearly felt like they weren't doing a good enough of a job reminding us we owe them money with just one of those...
And to all the "reasonable" people replying to this thread. Strongboxes are not a bad idea inherently, I believe most people here object to the way CCP implemented them, on top of them really just adding an unnecessary layer of randomness. There is nothing about the way they work as they are that suggests anything but a huge desperate money grap, and even that was done badly.

/signed but with a caveat
1) Stongboxes should become rare.
2) Keys should give equal Aurum return, and becomed staggered as well
e.g, A 50 aur key give 50 aur worth of items , 100 aur key 100 aur value, 1000 aur key 1000 aur value etc
3) Option to sell strongboxes for ISK. Gamble if you want, and sell the boxes if you don't. 10K per box would give the boxes some value in either selling or achieving in mission rewards.
4) Remove all starter fits, frontline and defender, as well as basic items immediately
I don't care about CCP trying to make money, but there is a much better way to go about it than ripping off your player base. War Thunder is also a free to play game that heavily rewards players who invest real money. They manage to be successful without diluting the value of items purchased.
CCP needs to convince us that spending cash on the boxes is worth it.
There is no way the + $100 of aurum i need to unlock my 300+ boxes will be the equivalent of either the elite pack, or the 10 year Templar anniversary edition of EVE onlline, or almost a year's subscription to EVE online.

I still get salvage for battles, and now I get strongboxes too. I don't see a problem with CCP adding features. The amount of strongboxes you get compared to the amount of keys is insane though. They need to rethink the chances of finding boxes and keys and give everyone like 200 keys for Christmas to make up for the extreme amount of boxes we have already. |

Not Signing... Simply because your petition asks for the total removal of the system, rather than working with what we got.
Do I think it's perfect? Absolutely NOT. Do I like the concept? Absolutely.
In the few matches I have played I have not noticed a decrease in normal salvage...(but hey, I could be wrong?) The mechanics and logic is good, but the box drop rate needs to be cut drastically. --> 1 key per 10 boxes.
It should not cost you a fortune to open every box you get, and right now the drop rate is silly. That is my only grievance with the system.

/Signed. Didn't think about it like that until you mentioned it. Which makes it even more hilarious, when you think about it like this: - They make you buy an Agent to get the maximum returns... - They take away salvage and replace it with these salvage boxes... - You can open the salvage boxes, but only if you spend -MORE- money.... - And what you get out of the salvage boxes is AURUM GEAR which is essentially worthless because it costs MORE MONEY to restock. So, basically, the scheme here is that: We pay for these keys to open these mystery boxes, get a random assortment of things that we can sell BUT AT A REDUCED RATE
Yes, and it still promotes protostomping via those who play PC for isk then come down and farm pubs like scrubs. We casuals still can't make the money enough to stay in proto everything.

boxes must be four types -Amarr -Caldari -Gallente -Minmatar
you should be able to buy their keys in the LP market the hacked keys purchased for AUR should open all types
you can farm a key type and open 1/4 boxes or two types of keys and open half of boxes and farm twice if you want to get the remaining key types you will need to buy a booster or lose faction standing
farm or pay I think this is better than the current model of the mystery box for money

Agreed.
We don't yank weapons when they're out-of-balance; we balance them. Why yank this new content if we can finetune it to make for a more rewarding experience?
* Adjust strongbox:key pickup ratio from 50:1 to 20:1 (or better) * Add Key Cache to strongbox loot (Fox Gaden) * Add Passive/Active Boosters to strongbox loot (Delt) * Add ultra-rare strongbox exclusives (i.e. BPO Light Wpns tagged as Sidearms, BPO vehicles, etc) * Add rarity ratings and tweak strongbox aura (blue, purple, gold) * Add an Isk value to strongboxes and permit their sale via market |

Why is the only time I see a good CPM idea, the same time they are trolling .... Then tomorrow I'll read an actual proposal and think... this guy must be trolling
As for removal of boxes or fixes to droprates.... You guys Suck. CCP bother to add something, you flood the forums with complaints... CCP give away a stupid amount of boxes, you complain some more... CCP want your money to build their game... more complaints
I understand why people are bugged, but really?? get some restraint and ignore the boxes... These over-flowing tear buckets could be filled with much more productive QQ. |
