What would the cut off be to be an "Old" Player?
Mhmmhhhh newer KEQ guys id put against the vets.
Timbo101 as an Assault, hes been around as long as I have but didn't get the PC time till later on.
LionsFan as ADS.
DEATH SURRONDS as a Tanker, well he was VC first.
Have to throw Dust User in there too since he's the best GC I've seen.
That's all I can think of, this is considering skill, communication and ability to handle adversity which a lot of Old Players couldn't.

Ydubbs81 RND wrote:But let's do this.....if you had to create a 16 of the best talent today that caught up in sp..who would they be? And put vthem vs a list of guys from old.
My list would be something like this (I won't put any Ahrendee guys like demz, Kono, etc cause it'll look biased)
1. Regnyum 2. Protoman 3. Reflex 4. Kalante 5. Calamity Jane 6. Annie Oakley
1. Exmaple (as a heavy) 2. Alldin Kan (as a heavy) 3. Osgr Valdez 4. Kreyshawn Corusanti 5. James5995 6. Tryhard 514
1. TheLegend 2. Kcon 3. Snugglez (I think he was around in closed beta) 4. Deranged Disaster.
That's a scary roster...and there are so many more. Is there 16 players that caught up in sp that could match this roster? Is there? Could someone make a list of them? This would be fun to see.

They were good in their respective times. Simply a judgement call based on what I've seen for 18 months. Kalante, Arirana, Espeon, etc. still running around pulling 5.0's daily - no one can argue those guys don't have talent, STILL. TO. THIS. DAY. Go into a pub blunt, many that you thought were scrubs long ago have caught up to you. You have no idea how bad the mass driver was at that point in the game's lifespan :/. I did get rocked K/D wise, but considering that's what I needed to do to try to help win the game, I don't think you really know what you are talking about. If I had to die 15 times to finally get a good spawn point in the city, I would do that every time. You weren't there. They were great shooters. Markof was probably their least talented guy there, and he was decent at worst.
OP fits? Has anything changed even slightly in that regard? FOTM 514. No strategy? IMPs were notorious for having no strategy. My team was cobbled together by Quickgloves... No Logistics? I may have been a terrible shot, but I was a fantastic logi at that point. I didn't belong in that match, but there was a reason why I was there. No teamwork? You should have seen Cubs AO/CJ doing work on the outside points in those games. Admittedly, IMPs kinda sucked at large team battles, but if they could ever make it into a series of 3v3s or 2v2s, they would usually kick ass.
Ill agree that Kalante and Espeon are both quite talented. You at least know something. |

Incorrect. They nerfed the splash radius and damage of the mass driver significantly with Uprising 1.0. There were maybe 5 guys in all of PC that used it. Only thing less used was the laser rifle. And maybe the scrambler rifle, because it didn't exist yet.
It was bad. Bad enough that I didn't bother with skilling into it after the post uprising respec. I took kin cats to 5 over rank 4 mass driver and it was the right call. |

Ah you mean because one guy with an md couldn't clear out 8 people in 3 shots so everyone ran to the next best thing?.
So you couldn't just yolo Rambo anymore with it, it was significantly nerfed?.

Some of those players don't count....some of them were the ones that had the so-called sp advantage that guys were talking about. It's not a list of active vs inactive. But those who been around for this alleged sp advantage vs those who came late and caught in sp. Someone referred to them as "nonames."
But just for the record, I still believe my list would best this 16 ;)

everyone that pc'ed had around the same amount of sp. There was no real advantage. Most of the players, if not all had proto weapons and gear. There were only a few standouts that may have mad much more than everyone else but everyone was on the same level, generally speaking.
Having a proto suit isn't the equalizer in DUST. One person can have a protosuit that has 350 base eHP versus another that has 450+ base ehp due to dropsuit upgrades. That's always been DUSTs niche, is passive skills that better the vet versus the rookie. I remember those days. Getting stomped by ERA because I just didn't have enough HP, or I would get blasted by a rail on the catwalks or bombarded by a python (Sir Snugglz is talented tho) or completely wrecked by a gal logi, stacking reps with triage hives and strafing around with a double-damage modded rail rifle or BCR. I caught up to those guys and now post better or similar numbers. It's because the SP gap closed, the game got balanced and I got more experienced. You believe there wasn't a huge skill gap and all the talented players just left, I believe there was one and more talented players have showed up but have yet to be recognized. But bahh, who am I kidding, half of you will be on PS4 with me in a year or two anyways <3 ERA? The video that I linked was way before ERA existed. That was the beginning of pc.....there was no real sp gap between players then. Most of the players that "pc'ed" at the time were around since the last wipe and before.
I was gonna mention getting killed by the Imperfects and others too, but I felt ERA was more relevant due to how recent it was.
