When I say "they" I mean people who are so embittered that they can't seem to find any hope for the future of the game. I don't think that's everyone in the community. Hell I don't even think it's a majority.
I never generalized, assumed or even used the word bitter the facts you keep blindly missing are the actual numbers regardless of your optimistic patches and road map that you seem to put on a pedestal like it's the saving grace of Dust.. Numbers continue to decline they have since Fanfest where there has been no transparency for Legion or Dust and very little core issues resolved. If the "majority" felt as you do that yearly graph would be slowly climbing not slowly falling.. I wish you and your self claimed majority the best of luck with the continued months of hot fixes, strong boxes and rave like colored tracers, those will save the game for sure!!! If you want to help, elaborate on specific issues, instead of just saying "core".
The way you're characterizing this patch is dishonest, and ignores the good it does. Changes EWAR for the better, gives us the missing fitting screen stats people have asked for since beta, new strikes improve gameplay, and fixes equipment spam. all that did was add more bugs and glitchs that need to be fixed instead of just fixing the old ones Every patch has bugs and glitches, and they get quickly fixed in around a week or so. You should know this by now. and yet bugs from a year ago and broken mechanics still are a major downfall of dust. maybe its just me that cares more about how a game runs more then if my lazor fires blue or pink beams. You really like being vague. Unnamed core issues, unnamed bugs from a year ago. Be specific, or your whining will amount to nothing.
Rudimentary Net code. - It has been terrible since the start... And in the beginning it was talked about alot on how they where to redo the system. It has never been improved... You can tell by the context of so many lag threads.
Frame rate issues - After 2 years of you so called improvements... It seems frame rate is almost as inconsistent as ever... It was MORE consistent in Open beta then it is now.. You can see that by youtube videos.
Physics... = Do i really need to elaborate? From LAV's... To walking slowly ontop of buildings... To small bumps getting mercenaries stuck and flipping LAV's end for end...
Collision mechanics... - You cant walk next to a wall or an inclined hill without having a 50% chance you will get stuck or hung up... For over 2 years.
Hit detection mechanics. - they are terrible in design... It is done like they did GTA.... Where when your crosshair lights up The server and your playstation finally acknowledges it's a hit... Anywhere else it's just misss.. There is no dynamic hit detection what so ever in DUST... It's all an illusion.
Clunky Aiming mechanics - Said in EVERY professional and amateur review ever of DUST. They have never been throw out and redone since they launched Uprising and CCP Wolfman threw out Chromosome's aiming and hit detection system for the one they have worked on for a year and a half and is still terrible.
Aiming in general is very inconsistent in DUST.. And changes every patch.
We can even talk about CCP recently updating maps... And installing ladders to reach places and then STILL leaving big giant ass invisible walls everywhere...
What we have got in majority from these patches since CCP Rouge took over... Is fluff.. We fluffed up DUST a bit... and still have never fixed the core issues.
We can pick out little bugs here and there till we are blue in the face... That is part of an active development process in a game.. We are fine with little bugs even though some took a year to address... we will work around them or with them and then look back on them when gone with a somewhat fond memory.
But the game as a core? Is so frustrating it pisses nearly everyone you squad with that has played it for 3 months or more... The game its self sabotages you and kills you by very inconsistent and broken core game mechanics that have been left and or built upon..
This is what ultimately limit's a players average playtime per day on this game and what chases a consistent 60% of the population out of this game every month as we get a new cycle in to only learn the harsh truth of DUST.
DUST has AMAZING content... has graphics I am fond of.. Amazing concepts.. But a terrible foundation... That spoils everything.

Out of curiosity. Why are you still here if you have no hope for the game?

when I think of core issues I think of core programing issues not balancing or meta addition..
Controls being sloppy and unresponsive (worse controls of any console shooter)
Performance/frames dropping to completely **** in the middle of a complex
Hit detection/latency mainly speaking about unloading a clip in someone and shields not dropping or get them half way into armor and they stop taking damage
Getting stuck on terrain/invisible terrain (some of this has been fixed at the beginning of uprising but obvious areas are still there )
Those are the main ones I can think of while driving but are major ones, as I'm playing I'll add more for ya..
edit: The thing is these have been posted about for years some less then others and Devs seem to turn a blind eye to it.. basically the game continues to run like **** it's even more noticeable if you spend some time away from it and come back... |

Oh I still have hope..
I'm just not on that welfare hope, it's kind of like that saying "wish in one hand, **** in the other see which one fills up first" well it's especially true when you've invested a lot of time and money in something I'm not going to hold hope in one hand and continue to let CCP **** in my other. .

You're right, I need CCP to hotfix my thumbs so I can aim better with the controller...
