Its happened often enough that the assailant dies but the uplink remains intact. Sometimes if its on the roof, especially in Line Harvest, it will also damage/destroy the landed dropship of the dead link hunter if he parked too close. Nothing is a bigger deterrent to hunting down the other links like losing good equipment taking out the first.
It also becomes influential. After the first few enemies have lost expensive fits breaking trapped equipment with melee hits, people get alot more cautions around equipment, backing up from it and fluxing it instead of rushing in. These small hesitations can make enough of a difference in CQB to shift the fight. A deterrent can be a defense if it discourages people from going after it. |

I love it. I logi on the front lines. I drop my equipment where it's needed at the point of conflict. This will not effect me at all, whatsoever.

It seems kind of ridiculous that have tons of SP invested just to have a role you can only play for 5 minutes and then you either have to switch to repairs or stand around and do nothing. If its going to be this way mise as well just reinvest all my role dedicated SP and then get a few Faction Apex logis that take no skill and ill have them if I need them.
They won't give free respecs now that you can buy them. If you hate the change so much, buy a respec and support the free game you are playing. It's not even that expensive. It should be way more expensive in my personal opinion. |

You play exclusively in squads and I play exclusively solo. There is a big difference there. You are close supporting 5 people you hang out with all day, im protecting the flanks of a largely uncoordinated team. There is no comparison. im setting up supply lines so that once all the uplinks within 50m of an objective are gone, my team can regroup. What you do is just play follow the leader and walk around with a squad. |

I hate to break it to you but the free respec wasn't given out due to changes to the Logistics Class or Equipment, but to allow players to invest in their preferred race now that the missing Dropsuits were released.

You both play the same game, but perhaps you should simply ignore his 2nd sentence and focus on the first.
Equipment spamming was a problem. Logis farming WP by laying out a dozen or more uplinks, often in high places effectively assuring snipers have good and useless positions to snipe from, while killing FPS, and submarining your chance for the win is what Thor was complaining about -- and rightfully so.
You will simply have to be more thoughtful in where you place your uplink/equipment.
Don't like it? QQ, adapt, or respec -- the choice is yours. |

Listen to what he is saying and all you dedicated slayers stop crying that someone elses play is different. This was a big change for logis and when a little change of gun damage is done WHOA cry me a river. He has legitimate claims. |

Solo is going to be a huge pain, but thats what LAVs are for. In a squad, not so much.

Really? How is it possible for the uplink to survive? Interesting....
Anyway, if the RE thing is your major issue, instead of just going on and on with QQ about the entire concept with the usual "Oh noes my favorite toy got nerfed give me a respect" why not do something more constructive like lobby for further reductions to RE costs (already dropped from 4 to 3 based on feedback myself and others gave in the original thread) or bonuses to BW costs as part of the skills?
Look, I liked being an old-school support omnisoldier as much as anyone; I have every single light weapon to proto except the shotgun and PLC, and a suit from every class across 3 races to at least 4 as well. BUT... The status quo was terrible.
I long for the days when actual logi's were the only ones providing equipment and reaping the justly earned rewards for doing so. When I could look at the map and actually be able to tell which uplink was mine.
If you have a better way to keep everyone else from spamming useless EQ everywhere (not just around depots) that has less negative impact on logis, please share it.

OP,you,as a logistics are a force multiplier. Do you know what that means? It means you do not add your own force,you enhance the force already present.
You're job isn't to set up 32 lines of defense. Or even 1. Your job is to ensure that your allies can do so easier.(keeping assaults attacking with refills)
You,as a logistics,are supposed to make other roles jobs easier.(Helping heavies survive to keep defending aka repping a heavy.) Not take them on yourself.
Dealing with vehicles is assault,heavy and commandos role. You're role is to help them in theirs.
Logistics is the Alfred (butler) to Bruce Wayne (batman),while not directly fighting crime,Alfred unburdens batman so that he can focus on stopping criminals.
Also,in the BW thread Amarr and Cal logistics have higher BW and get a %(undecided as of yet) bonus to BW because they are the deployables specialists.

Actually it's not a Minmatar role. All Logi suits should have the Minmatar bonus as their standard role bonus, excepting of course shield doctrine suits such as the Minmatar and Caldari which should have a similar benefit to Shield Transportation.

We used to run two squads,.with 2 pilots Logi DS.
2 x Eyrix Logi Dropships - 2 pilots
2 x Tankers (usually armour) - 2 pilots 1 x Carrbydis (#spelling, logi lav supporting tankers with 1 x HMG Sent & 1 rep / hacking logi bro
That comes to 5 out of 12 players.
The dropships then had a contingent of 3-5 ground and pound mercs, usually with a dedicated logi to each dropship, lsupporting the 2-3 assault/ scout/heavy combo that took, secured and held objectives until they needed to relocate.
10 seconds if not less after the call was mad, you would have the pilot assigned to that squad do a hot pickup and reallocate that 5-6 man resource into another area that was needed.
THIS WAS TEAMWORK. Not the pseudo BS they call 4 scouts with high straife speed slaying everything on the map because no one can get a hit marker.. and definatly not 2 heavys with 6 logis attached to them...

CCP is doing the right thing nerfing the solo play style. People are much more likely to stick around and spend money if they are involved socially.
Solo will still be viable, it just won't be as prevalent (hopefully).

That part about CalLogis and AmLogis having the lowest BW is a typo in the patch notes as noted by the devs. In reality, the Cal and AmLogis have the most BW once the patch goes live.

I dont always have a choice. Sometimes im the only logi on my team, and spend the entire match in a mad scramble to keep atleast 1 uplink active. Just so we dont have to spend the rest of the game in the red line. With the old system, i can take on the burden of the 2nd logi. With the new system, I have to leave holes in the coverage.
If you like unbalanced matches where 1 team spends the entire game in the red line, this is great news. If you like to actually play the game, not so much.

Rightfully so? What is with the massive attitude of entitlement ? Yes, uplinks placed high are such a big problem, yet you never asked why I started doing it. Sniping/foregunning is not effective when you are locked to a static place.
I started doing it because entitled people feel that they have the right to stomp new players into oblivion. Part of helping someone overcome such a situation is giving them as much of a chance as i can. If everything was done your way, uplinks would only be allowed at ground level so that you and your squads could destroy them faster to redline people faster.
I give people a chance to keep pushing an objective. The ironic part is that if it was done your way, people would be redlined all the time, and then you would complain about "red line sniping, red line camping", ect.

Well I charged like 45k AUR just a few weeks ago, why would I charge another? I put money in to make to support the game a little (i dont even do assault much but i bought a Quafe). If i put more money in now, its like I support the changes with my wallet. Thats a message that im not willing to send.

Well I have an idea as Ive played in a squad with people from your corp in a few q sync FW with other squads from your corp. It was ironically after a previous, heated, forums discussion with Thor. I seen how you guys play, I have the general idea. Im not saying its a bad thing.
The one who might not have a clue here, no offense, is you guys, because you embraced the squad system because solo play was too difficult. Im embraced the solo play and climbed the steeper hill. It upsets you what I do because you scoff at the idea that I can be successful without 6 people helping me.
i know what its like to play in a squad (Sometimes my corp coerces me into one), but i doubt you know what it is to play solo.

What do you have against people with lives?! I dont have time to build up a social life on a videogame. Work takes up most of my time and then on weekends/days i have off theres tons of people who always want to do something....the odd weekend/day off that i get to sit at home and play Dust quietly...I dont want to be bothered. Especially some of the times i play at. If I had tomorrow off i might have played from 12-3am tonight. Theres people asleep in my house. Should i wake them with my talking to a TV at 3 am? I just spent all day at work talking to people, now im going to come home and talk to my TV? Is that rational?
If im playing Factional, I might squad up time to time with people from Lucent echelon. But thats only to get placed in a game faster as i dont talk to them and i dont listen to/follow any commands/suggestions they might have. Most of the time though they just do what im doing and play solo within a squad and dont talk much. its nice though, as I dont do it to make friends, i do it to make LP.
Oh, and incase you were wondering "Then why do you play this game?" Keyboard and mouse support. |

Forgers will be hurting as you can no longer drop a hive in one suit and then come back as a forger. Heavy/logi duos will be everywhere making the heavy HMH situation worse.
I think the better way to fix equipment spam is just remove the ability to switch suits. The only real spam problem is when guys throw out every version if links and hives because they can switch suits to do it. Just remove it, it would also stop the invincible changing suit exploit and it would help balance swarm/vehicle balance because AV would have to be dedicated AV, not switch hitters.So much good for so little a change instead of so much change to keep a little good.

You will be happy to know that they are fixing the supply depot exploit because when u change suits now... U come in with the same percentage of hp as the suit u changed out of :D |
