Is there any way we can get a transport dropship that is the exact same as an ADS except without the ability to fit any turrets and have a max capacity of 4 passengers? The added agility and speed could actually make a pure transport pilot viable. Not having to fit 2 turrets to have 4 passengers would free up a lot of pg and cpu that pilots could use for extra tank.

I want their speed and agility to transport mercs without the need to fit side/front turrets. Both to increase potential tank (better modules can be fit because turrets would not be taking up cpu/pg) and to remove any offensive capabilities in order to balance it. However, right now you can only transport 2 people without side turrets and you are forced to fit a front turret.

No thanks We already have that. Just fit an ADS with a standard turret.

An AB'd DS is just about a agile as an un-AB'd ADS. Without turrets a DS can hold 4 passangers. Add preferred defenses. Shake well and bake on high for 45mins-1hr.
Poof, ideal transport ship.

Those red dropsuis would fit the bill I think. I think they are Scout dropships or something? Name starts with a "K". They fly like an Assault Dropship, but are paper thin.

Poof, ideal transport ship. Standard dropship with an afterburner is no where close to being as fast and agile as an ads.

Use an afterburner on a standard dropship. It improves agility more than anything. (Even though I personally feel it should reduce agility in favor of higher thrust, but, that's just me.) |

Coming from the pilot who doesn't use active modules because they are too much to mess with...

Perhaps so... though I don't see how it's relevant.
Seriously though, standard DSs are agile enough and tanky enough to survive reasonable AV if fitted correctly (if you ask nicely I may share a few with you). The only real problem is the hardener animation that blocks gunner's view (making it hard to fight back against AV).

I never do, so maybe that is why we have different opinions.

Currently the Myron (caldari) is indestructible. If you want to sacrifice some tank for agility, use an afterburner. It will have as much agility as a Python, or even more.
A Python is a flying coffin.
A Python with more seats is collective suicide. |

Moochie Cricket wrote:-Snip- Not a big fan of the Gallente DS model. I prefer Caldari, though I have a few Incubus fits for certain situations and Grimnses fits for fun.
The Myron flies a lot better than the Grimnses, and it can field a pretty nice take on top of it. Only real draw backs are the few utility high slots (one is always used for an AB, so if you want to use a mCRU/scanner/etc. you only get 2 slots for your primary tank), and the shield hardener animation (as above, obstructs gunners vision).
Here are some fits I've tried:
Dual Booster Myron: you can mess with the meta levels of all the mods and sacrifice only a bit on performance. This fit is a psudo-active tank that relies on the boosters ability to kick-start regen. By doing it at the right times (between reloads for example), you can boost the 900 hp plus natural regen for a few seconds. Not to mention the huge buffer and lack of hardeners to help the gunner. If you want two gunners, just lower the booster to advanced, same boost amount, but slightly longer down time. Personally, I think its the best fit for Myron gunships.
mCRU Python: this is if you want to use a Python as a transport ship (also a special gift to me from Rattati, check my signature). It's not too tanky, so you need to be conservative with the situations you put it into.
Active Grimsnes: Just a theory-craft fit I came up with. I haven't tried it out personally, but it seems decent. After initial hit, rep back shields and turn on hardener. Has about 4.6k armor ehp and reps at 250ehp/s, hardened with proto turret.
